This video sold me on the Gannet Sport. Stupid virus lockdown being ignored, i am now the owner of a Gannet Sport for my Mavic Pro. Now i have a holiday planned in a couple weeks with drone fishing being the main attraction for me! Cannot wait to get this thing going!
Hey there: where did you end up going for your fishing holiday? I used to fish for sharks as a teenager and with the COVID situation I woke up one day in Sept and suddenly decided I wanted to go shark fishing from the surf here in NYC. LOL bad timing as it took me until now to get a drone, learn to fly it and test bait drops. I'm now ready to go but it's almost November! Water temps are still around 60F so I guess it's possible that there are still some around inshore. Hope you had a successful first drone-fishing holiday! I'm thinking I should head for Florida or the Gulf for a week!
Awesome and informative tutorial Jacques. Ticks all the question boxes, and im sure will provide all the users a safe and effective drone fishing experience with the Gannet products. Well done. Can't wait to receive my Gannet X :)
In the below linked video they are being tested side by side for reliability/safety. Add to that massive difference the following; - the Gannet loads the drone dead center and can thus pick up much more not overloading the back motors. - the Gannet is 4 time lighter, so even less stress on the drone - the Gannet do not interfere with the drone’s VPS sensors, the other DOES despite the claims, and VPS MUST be disabled. - the Gannet is less than half the price From the above the choice is logical, as there is not a single advantage to the Sky Rigger where it could even be argued that it may be better than the Gannet ruclips.net/video/YnVRLjpNdrQ/видео.html
That is the video that made me get the gannet. Only issue I had is I find if the drone is not flying perfectly straight it gets stuck? After watching this video I think it could also be too much tension I had. I am going To try it at the park tomorrow and see. I think a what I might do moving forward is connect it all up with bait and all and Before casting attach a 7 ounce (200gram) sinker and loosen the tension till it falls out. Then as soon as it falls stop and use that as your tension similar to what you had there. As sometimes there are different leaders didfeeent weights with bait etc. it is too hard to remember it all. What do you think? Maybe that way even if the line is not in line with drone it should still come out. I will see how it goes tomorrow. Do you think 200g is a good weight to account for the movement of the drone, wind waves etc?
The rotation of the drone makes no difference at all. Try always use the same droploop, if you have different ones it will become very hard to keep track. Also 200-400g more than your bait load works very well on the phantom. Dont stop the drone, stop the line mid flight, you can even speed up at the same time as stopping the line. If your bait is much lighter than a previous one where the setting was good you may struggle to release as the bait weight helps achieve the release pressure.
Ok that’s good to know. I just assumed it was the angle. But I was using a different rod. I didn’t stop the drone it just didn’t release and the drone managed to correct itself and not fall in the water. I really don’t know why if happened. I would of thought even with high tension it should still come out with the speed and closing the line. Do you think the line could get stuck sometime or just having it over tensioned can do that? Like say it is tension 600gram above could that cause it?
How do you use the same drop loop. What if someone is using a different line. Is there a way to connect the drop loop on there line or should I just use it for my set up. I go fishing with friends and they want me to cast there line oh too. Also if the bait is light does that affect it? EDIT: what I mean is if the bait is light but tension is reduced based on putting the 200g sinker test wouldn’t that still be ok. Moving forward I am going to do the 200g tension test on all casts.
Very informative video. Thanks for that. I just purchased a phantom 2 vision and was curious what the recommended weight limit is. Would I be OK dropping baits 400-800 grams? Thanks in advance.
Tim Glanzer i just bought my first DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone really like the machine and i want to use it for fishing. So i bought a Gannet X drone bait release. i got it mounted but it does not function properly it does not close all the way and most of the time it does not open and when it does it takes quite a while. i would like to know if this is the correct Gannet for this Phantom 3 Professional. can any body tell me.
The Gannet X is almost always used in the load position ( not fully closed) this is so that it can unhook itself incase of a reel jam. If you really want it fully closed you need to double click the lights on off within the first 30sec of switching it on. This will close it all the way but then it can not unhook itself in case of emergency like reel jam or bird strike. When releasing, just click the button on the remote once, it will instantly release.
I just received mine yesterday and i have a question. What is the little red plastic piece that came in the packaging? Also does it matter which side the different Mavic Air 2 adapter pieces go? Thank you
I Just recently bye the gannet sport for mavic air i m fishing from the beach in greece with rods 4.20mt, casting weight max 250gr i isually use 120gr lead plus my bait, what would you suggest???
@@markscheepers6561 you need to look in the classifieds or ask on drone groups on Facebook. Can be as low as R2k for a P3 with a broken camera but realistically between R6-10K. P4 between R8-15K
MikeM NO NEVER - VPS is there to protect the drone and camera and people. If it is disabled the drone cant precision land and you can fly it into the ground damaging it and especially the gimbal. See it this way the new Mavic mini was just launched, DJI ditched all sensors except the VPS, they deemed it important to keep despite the added mass.
SOUTH AFRICAN ANGLING WITH SUVERN AND CHIVAAN depend what you want and if it is in stock, normally you will get it the next business day. We are also in Ballito and have limited stock there.
Just a question, if for any reason you can't get the bait to release or you lose range from the controller and the drone returns to home, will the drone safely be able to do so with the line still attached?
Josh N yes it will especially with the Gannet Sport as you can release the line by either just reeling in the line and giving it a slight tug or if the line was to get stuck in the water it will automatically release as the drone pulls itself free.
Densley Mills anything but, we have near 90k followers on Facebook and been at drone fishing since 2016, making release systems for just about all the DJI drones and many others. We also build our own fully waterproof drones the Gannet Pro. Best have a look and learn something new before you call hoax.
If you use monofilament main line would it make the release more difficult? Mono has more weight and stretch than braid. All my reel are set up with mono lol
The Gannet Sport can be set to release within 5g of the setting for any given mono diameter from 0,2mm to 1mm line. Braid is not ideal as it is compressible making the release force vary greatly. You will have to over tighten the release allot just to hold say a 700g load, where on mono it will be much easier to set.

The BEST video on this device, anywhere!!! I cant decide between this one and the sky rigger. The price on this one is very attractive.

Thank you…the passion with your product shows! You just got a new buyer and a new person to drone fishing👍👏🤓
Thank you
I would like to see it in action filming from another drone from behind when you stop the line and rhe front drone dropping the bait , all in action
Very informative here from Australia thanks

This helped me so much when I started! Thanks again
I use a stainless steel drop loop that i made 50cm away from my mai line and just clip it on easily
cant this be done with a magnet? you would just need to get one that is not too powerful or too weak. or will magnet affect the drone electronics?

Where can i purchase one of these fishing units for a 2kg weight
Are you looking for a full drone or just the release?
now its nearly 2 years on and i was wondering if you would have a set up for the Parrot Beebop 2 drone by now?
No sorry it is simply not popular enough to make a dedicated release for.
The Gannet Sport Mavic should fit it and will work
Can it fit on a Yuneec breeze 4K???
Hi
Would the gannet sport also fit on a MJX bugs 4 W ?

How much wind will you drop baits with the phantom 3 in?

Giannis Sideris sorry I’m not sure what the question is.
The Air can lift only 300g max. So you should be flying 150-200g max load on light tackle.
@@gannet-dronefishing2295 thank you.
Please can you do a tutorial on the GannetX.
