He's making the point that certain aspects of 'fame' and 'success' (as seen on the gas masked men in the video) make you lose touch with the real world- they can make you forget the importance of love, friendship and family. The 'list' refers to a list of people he loves and would metaphorically take a bullet for.

Yep, plus Ride talks about it being harder to live for someone than to die for them, and then in this song he's referencing back to those lists and saying that if you come for someone he loves he'll throw away his sanity, his salary, his vanity, and even his morality to fight for them

The “list” he is talking about here is from a verse on the song “Ride”. This is track 4. Ride is track 3 so It comes before this one. Hope that helps.

you literally have seen nothing, there are entire eras and backstories in there albums, especially in Trench

Hey Thirdearnest I LOVE your channel. I’m a really big fan of 21 pilots and I think you should turn this into a series. There’s actually a storyline to all the TØP songs. They created a whole fictional world through their lyrics and music videos. If you do want to make this a series you should definitely watch ride, stressed out, heavydirtysoul, fairly local, lane boy, jumpsuit, bandito, levitate, Nico And The Niners, and leave the city are just a few. I hope you continue reacting to TØP they’re a great band!

I still remember when I recently went to their concert we did the wave thing and it was so fun😭I recommend going to their concerts .
Saw them in Atlanta in 2021 during The Takeover Tour, I'm 49 and it was hands down the best concert I had ever been to. Already scored tix for the Orlando show in September, I'm already stoked. If you ever get the chance to see them live do whatever you have to to make it happen.

My daughter introduced my wife and I to 21 pilots and we LOVE them. There music is good but their MESSAGE is IT!
Their music is a story line and flows from one album to the next...their fans are FAMILY a TRIBE if you will. You notice this when you go to their concerts...everyone is suited up and ready to DO THIS THING! You really need to see them live to get it. The drummer Josh Dunn is a beast on the skins and these two guys leave it all on the stage and even throw some into the crowd ( during the concerts they have two platform that the CROWD holds them UP while they perform).
There is a VERY deep message to their music...from religion to Anti-Suicide.
I appreciate you giving these guys the props they very much deserve.
When you realize how popular they are and how many hits they've had with very little radio play it's AMAZING!

My Man! When you said I feel like there's something that I'm missing from another song, YOU SAID IT. You're too good.
Twenty One Pilots are insanely good. Josh tears up the drums and Tyler is a lyrical genius with a voice like butter. I understand what you mean about when music gets played non stop on the radio. But these dudes work their butts off for their fans and especially during a concert. They’ve got a few songs that really gained them some fame and attention but they’re so much more than that. I’m headed to my second show in two weeks because one just wasn’t enough.

I'm 32 years old and I went to their concert this year, it was a blast! I'm so glad i went to TØP concert for my very first ever concert!
First up: As always a great Reaction putting your thoughts to what you saw and listened out for us.
Tøp is really not a Band you can cathegorize to fit any genre. As you said, they don‘t stay on one lane. Furthermore their lyrics are flooded with metaphors you sometimes can explain through other songs of them, others you just need to put your mind to work an think what he could mean by that.
But enough of that. As i stated before, your reactions are really good, even breaking parts of the song down jusst from hearing it once. You really should have more subs by now.

I saw them in concert for their newest album back in February. I wasn't in the pits but that didn't take any of the energy away. The people were wonderful. We all waited hours outside of the concert hall jamming to a bunch of music. We all shared stuff with each other like yellow tape (it's a thing). The concert itself was wonderful and the energy indescribable. Even my father who doesn't really like TØP, enjoyed it a lot and said if anyone knows how to put on a show, it's them. The band have said that since there is only two of them, they have to put so much energy on stage to make it not feel empty.

I saw their concert last year at the summer festival in Quebec and I fell in love with the group. Their concerts are LIT. They put like a flaming car on stage and Tyler was so into it it was awesome. (I also almost had a heart attack when I saw Tyler on top of a 15 foot tall beam screaming "AND NOW I JUST SIT IN SILENCE" from car radio)

Tyler (the singer) has basically the same conception as the NF about Fame and Success. They believe it's toxic and bad for them, but they need it to keep getting the message from their songs. But TØP keeps it "out of the lane" by creating their lyrics and styles in the most original way they can. Also, the band doesn't have a definite style. Is it rap? Hip hop? Electro? Pop? Ukelele? We'll never know xD
