My daughter really disliked writing, too. I suspected dysgraphia my be the culprit and started letting her type. That helped a ton. I still had her working on cursive and she started drawing a lot on an ipad with an apple pencil - that helped with her ability to handwrite better and longer, but now as a 9th grader she still prefers to type anything longer than a few sentences.
We were suspecting dysgraphia too. I've been trying to get her to do a typing course, but she didn't like it. If I just let her type freely, she likes to type.
She only used the manipulatives a couple of times throughout Pre-Algebra & Algebra 1. It was a total of maybe 5 times between the two courses that she actually used them. She did find them helpful and only used them when she needed a visual example, but they were pretty expensive for how little we used them.
My son is a very reluctant writer. I was looking into BJU English online but I can see him shutting down and it’s such an expensive curriculum. I looked at TGAB level 4, the grammar and writing look similar to BJU but not as much work.

Have you used the manipulatives at all for MUS? I want to do pre algebra next year, but I don't want to buy the manipulatives.

I looked into BJU as well, and it was the price tag that has kept me away because I feel she would eventually want to go back to TG&TB.
