@@guilty_mulburry5903 Well... SoDak was a sitting duck, so there was no "evasive manauvers" going on. Still, 39km is too much for battleship guns to be really accurate.

One of 100 things that should be in this game. Has potential but let's be honest it's an open beta still. Check back in a year. Just seems like a bit of a dated game missing too much with too many issues and no real challenge right now for me sadly.
Their past games, including mobile games Pacific Fleet and Atlantic Fleet, show little damage or no destruction physics (not kinda sure about Cold Waters) . Only module damages like turret incapacitation are modeled in iirc.
@@Wolfpack345 Do you plan to restart the campaign on the hardest difficulty? Or at least it would be interesting to see the current updates working from the start of the game. Seems like there was a point from which you have been just snowballing to infinity.
Great work with this series Wolf, I've been a fan for a while and your videos have kept me going, you inspire so many people with everything you do. You do amazing things and we need more people like you. Have a great day
One thing I have noticed you dont do is get a scout plane up before an engagement. Even when an encounter is forced you can still launch a scout plane from the ships and then hit "begin" and they will be there in the battle with you as long as it isnt a night encounter. I figured that out when one of my carriers got forced into an encounter with a 4 Avengers that magically appeared on the map right near my carrier not far from the Shortland Islands (no idea where they came from as I had destroyed both allied carriers a week earlier). Just before I hit the begin button I was able to launch a flight of Zeros from it and they were there right over the carrier when the battle started.
Excellent battle once again! I have noticed at times some weird bugs pop up that make me have to restart the game to make them go away. One bug was the enemy ships taking very little damage, I hit a light cruiser (Cleveland) with about 15 bombs from multiple flights of Vals and it was only registering light damage. This happened with multiple ships on the map, restarted and they were taking damage normally. Another time one of my hunter killer groups engaged a sub, I saw the torps in the water... turned and avoided them by a long way and suddenly my 2 destroyers registered as sunk and on the screen they were barrel rolling over and over and over. I had saved right before that engagement and every time I reloaded it repeated, restarted the game, reloaded save and it didnt do that. One other time my float planes were tracking 2 different convoys at the same time and they just disappeared, I ran through about 12 hrs of time compression flooding the area with float planes and they never showed up, restarted the game and right away they were showing on the map and had slipped by 2 hvy cruiser battle groups where they should have been engaged by distance alone. It was like they were running cloaking devices. Might be how that original convoy was able to land on Guadalcanal on you.
Dynamite fishing, japanese style. Or: Minced Suhi, Yamato Maki :) RIP S.Dakota. We need such a game in the Warhammer 40k universe, imagine sending a few thousand Space Marines and a detachment of 800.000 from Krieg against some chaos forces - YEAH!
And also would love to see the creators research the ship building schedules would give realism to how many ships the Americans had in reserve or were building to replace losses
That poor South Dakota has met an end quite similar to the Bismarck : crippled by air strikes, gang-banged by enemy big guns, and seasoned with a few unnecessary torpedoes as a finishing touch. Brutal AF.
love these vids. IJN campain is so amazing. really hoping you stick with it till the actual victory and not quit early like all the usa side players. Keep up the great work Sir
Every time I see Yamato and Musashi steaming together all I can think of is the INSANE amount of fuel that is being expended just to keep these two behemoths operating in a combat zone. That was the main reason they were never committed in the Solomons campaign; their fuel consumption was outrageous. Sure, there was also fear they'd be sunk, but the main reason was simply down to what massive gas hogs these two were.
Great vid, wolf. It seems we have reached the end game. The next big thing would be the US navy flooding the seas with subs, like the Kriegsmarine. So yes, ASW groups are important. Perhaps you could counter this submarine purge by sending your own wolfpacks right at the mouth of their port. We also need the Invasion of New Guinea. Exciting times ahead.
Damn, missed opportunity to call the now merge convoy the Tokyo Express. Just to rub that extra sea salt into the US massive wound that the IJN convoy is always in one piece.
I asked the same thing in another video. Wolfpack said that he intended to do another SH series but he was taking a break for now, as he played SH3 for many years.
They cannot hit a large stationary target?! AI still needs a lot of work! That said, War on the Sea is still my favorite series on your channel, Wolfpack!
it has been a fascinating campaign you have played the IJN superbly many submarine actions early in the campaign but there has not been any sub action for a long time now. I would like to know what is the objective for gaining victory in this campaign? you may have mentioned it in the first campaign but I'm unsure what your end game is. You play many games how do you rate "War On The Sea"? from a viewers point of view the game looks stunning you are given all the forms of combat and camera angles that keeps the viewer entertained I have really enjoyed all 28 episodes. Once final victory is achieved will you play another campaign using the American fleet? I have tried to watch other youtubers but they just don't have the same feeling that you bring to these or this strategy game.
Lovely episode Wolfpack, it was very much worth the wait. I am glad you have not lost your passion for the game, as sadly a lot of content creators have, and im also happy that you send out another supply force to guadocanal in order to focus on objectives. Very Nice 😉 Personally, i wish the game were available on console to play and also that there would be different versions of the game. I believe the latter would be more complicated but hey, a man can dream 😅 I just wish there would be a War on the Sea Atlantic theatre or Meditteraniean theatre or Just the whole War of the Sea for thr european nations as i believe it would be preety awesome to have a Bismarck or Littorio-class taskforce operating against British, French or other Allied navy's. But thats just a wishlist of mine 😁 Keep it up Wolfpack and see you in your next War on the Sea video 😊
I recommend you start taking more islands, because then you will have more possible airports for your planes with that you will be able to spam ton of planes on e.g. destroyer/merchant groups and also taking port moresby isnt actually needed as you can just downgrade the port level each time with random task force
Even if he committed the troops and ships to take the neutral islands, he would not have the engineering supplies to do anything with them. It takes several hundred Engineering to upgrade an airfield, and while he just loaded up the 100 Engineering he has at his disposal, he won't get any more for a week. This game is very stingy on resources, and committing time and effort to capture neutral islands won't matter much if you don't have the Fuel or Engineering to do anything with them.
I'm a little surprised at the extreme ranges you open fire at, since it's such a long trip to re-arm. Circumstances differ, but generally I would hold fire until within 24km for main guns and 12km for secondary and destroyer guns. It depends on how realistic the ballistics are. Hit percentages were extremely low in long range naval battles, on the order of 3 to 5 percent, I think. At this point in your incredibly successful campaign, you have so many ships, and can build more at will, so I guess it's no big deal to send a few home to re-arm.
Awesome, been longing for another episode for a while now! Remember that you can increase aircraft speed, in that first engagement it would have been nice to make it to a better angle, even if you need to decrease the torpedo bomber speed before you drop! :) PS. I wonder if it might be time to call the campaign a win and maybe do a American campaign?
@@Wolfpack345 I usually drop them from the line formation at close to full speed and they seem to hit. Line formation in general works extremely well when dropping torpedoes, for me at least.

Yamato and Musashi: 39km away from target
also Yamato and Musashi: **Target is in Gun range**
according to Wikipedia, the 46 cm/45 Type 94 naval gun has a maximum firing range 42 km (26 mi) at 45° elevation
