The way Chris describes what he knows in such a direct and un-biased tongue in cheek way is so refreshing and easy to digest, WW2 docs are so bland and formal and make it hard to understand why countries had their motivations for things but Chrissy just roasts everyone involved in a way that’s really sincere and honest and funny that makes it easy to follow along with xD

Im the granddaughter of a survivor of the bombing. She said it was the most beautiful sky she had ever seen. She also said after hiding in a cave for a year eating rats and what rice they could find cause nearly her whole family died from smaller bombs, once out of the caves she said the people looked like and smelled like rotting corpses but they still walked around... I think a lot of Americans are so convinced that when people break up they must be bitter enemies. That is not always the case. I know my ex-husband and I are actually still really good friends, and coparent our son seamlessly. Sometimes you have two good people they just don’t belong in a romantic relationship. I honestly think that is the case here. Just because they’re no longer a couple doesn’t mean they don’t love each other or they can’t get along.

I'm studying history, and honestly this is pretty on point for the conversation had in the classroom. The facts and the amazing guesses of motivation!
Close, but not completely on point. The idea that it was only the SS who hated the Jews is one of the convenient excuses that post-war Germany created, to wash their hands in innocence. Recent historic research has documented many incidents where the Wehrmacht also orchestrated atrocities against Jews, besides antisemitism was widespread in the German population. What's also not correct is Chris' assumption that history never changes. That's exactly the point I just made. Even today historians uncover unknown facts and anecdotes about WWII that at least partially change previous narratives. Same with any other historical period. Why that is? Very simple - History is NOT an exact science and NEVER WILL BE!
