For new lucid dreamers, my advice is to not expect results quickly and to focus on reality checks. It's alright if you have a few off days where you forget, don't beat yourself up, just pick up where you left off and keep at it. Also, I find a good time to reality check is first thing in the morning as it will allow you to take full advantage of false awakenings which happen far more than you might recall.

@Moviesda Reality checks plus keeping a dream journal is all it takes.. If you're keen to have your first lucid dream, just do the reality checks as often as you can. Set a big number of alarms during the day and check every time they ring. Also check spontaneously without alarm, and think as often as you can about everything that surrounds you. Is it normal? Could it be a dream? The reality check that's working the best for me is pinching my nose and breathing through it.

I love the idea with the coins. Not only is it a good way to add consequences to your practice, but it's also a great way to train yourself to remain mindful throughout the day and make it a habit to do so. Everytime you feel the coins in your pocket, you will be reminded that you want to continue remaining vigilant. Very creative idea. The tip about adding the visual element to your DJ was also very helpful. I have tried drawing scenes from my dreams before, but gave up quickly because they all looked awful lol. I like the alternative of using pictures from magazines or adding the visual element in some other way that doesn't require drawing. Very refreshing video!

    5) I really need to start drawing my dreams more often, if only for myself … For some reason, I struggle with that a lot. It's like, I remember the dream, I remember many details, but when I try to draw them, it just doesn't seem to work. I'm beginning to suspect that the dimensions in my dreams are wonky, the locations never make sense. But I should try to at least draw my dream characters.
    4) Oh, good idea! I'll start to look for things I can incorporate when I write in my dream journal. I actually had a dream last night in which a few friends of mine and I watched Babylon 5 with James Bray, because he hadn't seen it yet. (Please, don't ask if I did a reality test…) I guess I should start looking for my Babylon 5 DVDs and/or ask James if he has seen it. Or maybe read his LD book.
    3) I have a few props in my bedroom, like a medallion or some fancy coins. And I've painted a series of little paintings in the hopes of using them as portkeys in my dreams. But the frustrating thing is, they show up in my dreams, but I don't get lucid! I'm just like: "Oh yeah, I've been meaning to use these in a lucid dream! I hope I'll have a dream with them soon."
    2) Great idea.
    1) After the first three lucid dreams, the fourth and fifth happened pretty quickly, but at the moment, nothing goes. I'm trying to work on my awareness, using your circle technique, among other things. I think that's what needs the most work.

Last night, I had my first real DILD based lucid dream, where I remembered who I was and where I could do anything.
Normally when I get a lucid dream, I don't remember any details about me, I don't know where I live or where I work, nothing in my normal dream I have alternative life, where I live in a house which is different at different times, I can't even remember anything.
This was the first time I remember everything, including where I am sleeping and it is a dream, I picked up a paper and I could feel it, I thought if it is just my imagination I wouldn't be able to feel the paper but I could feel it, I picked up a pen and I could feel it.
Then I tore the paper and I could hear it and feel it... wow... it was simply amazing.
Then I thought of flying, then I thought I better float (which is common for me to do when I'm in a dream).
I did that and got too excited and woke up.
What I realized is key to a lucid dream is to make sure you don't get excited, I get WILD but I have too much control in it and things are not really very automatic or random.
I like DILD but till now my DILD were, I can't remember who I am or where I am, in my this dream I knew I was sleeping on the bed but I didn't feel anything on the bed, I could only feel what the things in my dream.

I can confirm mindset without overdoing techniques is really important! For a while, I wasn't having DILDs, but lately I've been taking a break (not doing techniques) as I'm currently adjusting my circadian rhythm and I've been getting DILDs pretty much every other day recently. With my recent experiences, it seems like having the right mindset without putting in too much effort (after having put in effort before) seems to help, especially since I've been lucid dreaming accidentally throughout most of my life. I've probably been overdoing it a little before, so that could play a role in the results from taking a break.

I like what Daniel said in a recent livestream. He said that this is a subject you need to "relax into" and I think that's a great way of putting it. If you start out by simply trying to make your dreams be a bigger part of your life, the rest of the practice will fall into place

    • @zinsy23

@@connerlee6494 I agree! You'd be surprised what's possible when just relaxing and allowing it to occur not just with this, but life in general. • @RainisaurusRox
    @RainisaurusRox 10 месяцев назад +1

I have a question about the props. So I'm thinking of making my own Necronomicon. Forbidden words, rituals, knowledge.
The thing is I'm "using it in the waking life", I mean I will have to make it, write it, come up with all the stuff and I'll have to read it to memorise what's in it. Reading books in dreams and all. 😂
    Could it still work?
Thinking of inventing a lore, with it's own deamons and gods, dark powers and stuff.
Magical words that will summon different kind of things, open portals...
Everything written in a very mysterious way with warnings all over it
    "Only use in a dream"
"Never summon Lillith into your waking world"
Maybe I get other props and write about their functions in the book.
Thing is, I would use it in waķig life but won't say out the words loud or perform any rituals.
I'm so into this I'll try it out no matter what .😅
But would really like to hear your opinion on this, and maybe you have a tip or two?❤

    • @LucidDreamPortal
      @LucidDreamPortal 10 месяцев назад

      Hi RainisaurusRox!
Firstly, thank you so much for your kind support, it really means a lot!
I think what you're trying to do should work absolutely fine. It's always handy to keep props and waking life somewhat separate so that you don't build limiting expectations, but from what you've said it seems you've found a clever workaround for that.
The most important thing to bear in mind, is that dream control is almost always about confidence, expectation and belief - so as long as you genuinely believe the prop will work as you'd like in the dream world, then it absolutely will.
On that note, maybe don't call it a prop, and instead call it a "tool" this way, you're not using language that might limit your belief.
I hope that all makes sense!

What has made me lucid in dreams before is the presence of fear and me generally not having nightmares, so I question dreams that invoke fear. I then often become aware of my power as the dreamer and shift things, confront the fear and dissolve it. Sometimes its hard when fear sneaks in through the back door and pretends to be another feeling or reason why its legit. When I`m already in the middle of playing the victim in a dream, its harder to snap out of it than it is when it just starts. Always question fear, awake and asleep.

BTW many times I have nightmares I become aware that I'm dreaming but I just find me myself powerless (or in the best cases barely having control over the dreams and the best I can do is do everything again to try to "win" this time.
A great problem is that I have the same problem in my waking life. I was diagnosed some illnesses some time ago she my life changed overnight and I just can't do much to change that she obviously that's a big part of the constant nightmares.
Before when I dreamt being chased by zombies it in silent hill, usually I found power to change things cause in my waking life wasn't so powerless but now that I live full of frustration I can't get things working.
Obviously I should talk this in therapy but you'd will be appreciated

A normal introduction today? A normal one?! RC time!
I used to actually sketch small bits from my dreams back when I first got into lucid dreaming (early 2019). I would like to say it lasted a good while, but, it only lasted 3 days for both drawing and writing down my dreams. I think that it was due to the "rule" where I had to sketch and that coupled with high school, it basically killed that attempt at a dream journal (also, might have just been lazy, bad habits are hard to break). I should probably draw my dreams more, but, I have realized in the dreams I have written down, I do describe the scene pretty well. It's a decent substitute, but, drawing may help even better.
I do integrate my dreams into waking life, if only the "tip of the iceberg". I do often reach out to my friends if they are in my dreams (or if they are dreams that stick out to me) and sometimes we have discussions about them. As for clothing, I would rather not walk around anywhere in cosplay unless I knew I was alone. To remedy this, I do have hair ties that are different colors and whenever I am a different person in my dreams and I wake up "in character", I do put in their corresponding hair tie in (since I am typically the same different people in my dreams).
Consequences require a lot of self control in order to work. I do forget to do reality checks at one of my biggest dream signs, so, a system may be needed to fix this, but, it requires work. I know as a fact that I get hyper focused on something for a few days and when I slip up (cough cough, dream journaling), I'm no longer focused on it. If I did implement a system, I don't know how long it would last due to me thinking that a day of skipping it won't do anything bad (though I know it's not the case). A reward system may be better.
Thanks for the helpful video! I do need to make/get some props as I found that tip very fun! The last tip I need to implement ASAP since I've been zoning out a lot more recently. Also, was it a trap since you said that we should reflect more on our thoughts/the world and most times I do a moderate dive into my own opinions in these comments?

I have certain dream signs, but don't recognize them until I wake up from the dream. When I wake up and review the dream in my mind, I think "oh yeah, that was one of the signs that I was in a dream." I have had a couple of lucid dreams in which I changed what was happening to an outcome I desired, but I can't do it on a regular basis. 🤔

reporting here...after a dry spell from may to now i had a lucid dream (only a few seconds when i was basically between the dream and being fully awake) and at least my mind worked as it should for once since i recognized that i was in a dream through a monologue in the dream when i was annoyed at something it went along these lines "i wouldn't have to bear all of this if i was in a dream (then the realization comes) OH WAIT I AM SLEEPING I AM INA DREAM" then a few moments later with just enough to barely think what to do i have to wake up because it was a metter of seconds before being fully awake

im not down with punishing myself and forcing a sense of duty upon myself; a lot of research shows punishment and reward prevents deep motivation and endless anecdotal evidence shows how social emotional growth is inhibited from the likes. But I like the idea of neutral consequences that create a physical confirmation of the days practice, especially combined with the bedside talisman tip

Hey daniel, I keep having these fake lucid dreams where I realize I'm dreaming but don't get lucid. I've had 14 of them in one year, the last one was 2 days ago. What should I do?

What helps me see if I’m dreaming is I’ll look at something with letters or numbers look away and if I look back and it’s changed I’m dreaming. And for whatever reason when I smoke weed I can’t dream period.

I WISH my brain responded to rewards and consequences with lucid dreams. The only consistent factor for me is lots of sleep and especially sleeping in a couple of hours later than I usually do.

I got a tip. Keep in mind that I have never had a lucid dream before. First focus on mastering semi-lucid dreams. Dreams your consciousness is there but you don’t fully understand that it is a dream. Once you master that, you can try lucid dreaming.

After about a month of trying, I had my first lucid dream last night. All planning went out the window. I immediately thought I was in a dream, since things seemed kind of dreamy or surreal. Without realizing it, I had come up with a novel reality check on the spot. I had a piece of paper in my hand. I stared at the paper and there was a faint red oval at the top left, like a typing cursor. I was able to make a stick man appear in the cursor, as if I typed it. I didn't have any dream control, but I wasn't concerned about it, and mostly just explored the dream. I tried flying, and was able to do it, but it took a lot of energy and concentration to maintain, and I couldn't sustain it for more than a few seconds. I tried flying again, being pulled by some motorcycle handlebars, which I was revving through different gears to maintain flight. It was pretty effective, but still took a lot of concentration. It was a very cool experience. Vivid, but also laid back. Seemed to last about 20 minutes, which was much more than I was expecting. Thanks for all your videos. They helped a lot!

Why would you want to avoid looking in the mirrors? Have you been listening to those channels and websites that spread the misinformation that mirrors are "bad" in lucid dreams? There aren't at all. If you see anyone saying that, you know your can immediately ignore anything else they say, as they don't understand the subject at all, and are foolish enough to share myths.
