Yeah! Got myself a pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT , and wanted to get everything organised and like a fresh setup right! But i accedently switched the cable from my ext soundcard and the pioneer, i thought i was going nuts after 3 days reading forums and shit , someone says this the other one was 100% positive like "yeah man i swear this will solve your probs and crazy shit" thank u dj god! Thank you, mine had an issue where I couldn't get the recording audio bar to show any process. Reset unit to factory setting, updated firmware, rebooted my MAC. Finally, I decided to check different cables, looks like although the unit was in working condition before with the cable plugged in, that wasn't the right cable. I used another cable and that fixed my recording audio problem.
This makes sense, I use an audio interface connector and I don’t have this freezing situation. When I used the cable that CAME WITH the device it would freeze on me

Yup. Got one second hand and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting audio out of the DDJ. I just tried it again with the USB from my GFI Specular Tempus and it now works perfectly.

Save brother! I'm used to setting up various setups and had previously had system issues not recognizing the controller due to the usb cable. But today a ddj-sb would not even turn on, there was no power, I changed the usb cable for another brand and started working. The type of usb cable, its length and quality is very important. Thanks for sharing!!

I have a brand new DDJ-1000 and used the USB cable that shipped from Pioneer. Still have the same issue, glad this worked for your specific controller but def not a universal fix

I just got the sb3 as well and I tried everything. I used the wire that came with it. I am noticing that I am not even getting anything coming through the channel on the control, but I can see it on the software when I am playing a song.

Allan Wade Allen thank you for the prompt response. On the computer I can see put on the controller nothing. I spent a lot of time just like you trying to reverse engineer the issue, then I opened virtual dj and everything worked. I came to the conclusion that serato pro/lite has a glitch in the programming somewhere. Which makes it seems that we have faulty equipment. It's definitely a software issues. Easiest fix ever? I've gotta go shopping to get another USB cable and this one was brand new anyway. I don't believe these things can be device specific.
Ordered 2 new usb cables from Amazon (gold plated) for like $5-6 / each. Also upgraded to High Sierra, 1.9 serato (first version that supports high sierra) and reinstalled the firmware (1.8) I think it is for the DDj-SR. Worked flawlessly for 4.5 hours at my gig this past weekend.

@@adubbproductions I'm thinking it was a combination of all of them, I def suggest getting a high quality SUB cable and storing it WITHOUT KINKS, but the way sound would get distorted and fade out it could have been a sound card issue with the controller and the firmware reinstall helped...
Happened to me during a club set ! Luckily there were two of us djing on the controller (DDJ SZ) . One side went out 1st.... Turned out to be a faulty wire ! Great post.
You are amazing, I looked everywhere for this answer! The thing that sucks is I don't have my original cable anymore. By any chance can you write what cable type is written on the cable wire. It usually says something like "USB High speed cable 2.0 28/awg/ip+28 awg/2c awm 30v..." this is what my current (non working cable0 has printed on it but I'm trying to find a replacement that might work that matches what the SR one has.

The best advise i could give you is to order one on amazon that looks like the one i had in the video. Another piece of advise. Don’t get the cheep one cause it most likely won’t work. Yup very possible. I usd to run into this problem with the old scratch live box back in the day. So I stopped using cheap usb because I learn they’re are different voltage in each usb. If the voltage is low it will power your device but not enough for audio.
All the cables up to USB 2.1 are wired in the same way. USB 3.x just have more wires. They are NOT device-specific. The only difference is their quality: the signal losses and noise immunity. Remember that USB is completely digital stuff. So you can not detect kind of gradual quality loss. It either works or doesn't in each particular moment. But your DDJ-SR is a compound USB device. It contains at least of the USB sound card, the USB MIDI interface and the USB HID device. And at the moment of initialization (when you plug the cable in or power-up the DDJ-SR) some of these parts may fail to initialize due to poor cable quality. In your particular case you got MIDI and HID initialized but sound card failed. That's why you can control the software from your DDJ-SR but can't hear a thing through it. So you were right saying the cable caused the problem. But it's not the model of the cable but the quality of it.
Thank you for this bro I really appreciate it. I just replaced a faulty Roland 505 with a new ddj 800. I used it for a gig over the weekend with no problem. I came home and reconnected everything and no audio driver?!? I seen your video but the cord I’m using is the factory cord. I grabbed the one out of the 505 bag , hooked it up and everything went normal. Maybe I burnt out the factory cord idk? But I will be ordering a couple of spares. Thanks again
I just bought a ddj sb3 and i have tried everything. From setting my speakers to default instead of the dj controller, to trimming the sound and nothing works. I dont have a RCA cable because the way my speakers work is that those connected to the bass right. I have sound when the controller is not connected. This problem occurs in both virtual dj and Serato dj. I have also installed the firmware

It's likely that the usb cable just needed to be re-seated. Alternatively, the cable is a standard usb type 2.0 A to B. Your cable could be bad and the other one you grabbed was a good one.
You know where I could find a correct cable for a DDJ-SZ2. Rescued it from the pawn shop and I got no cables or owner manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Most love.

my problem is i cant get the turntables hooked up in the serato pro software with my s9 mixer everything is activated and the audio section wont provide the setup section my last thing would be the wrong usb cable as well but which one should I get thanks your vid is very helpful
Only the manufacturer would kno the exact cable to get I am really not sure cause i just used all of mine till i got one to work. Which ended up being the one that came with the Ddjs.
Hey Buddy, I use a DDJ SX2. I too hadn't used it for some months and suddenly had this same issue. I bought a high end USB A - USB B cable from a reputable source and hooked it up. For one hour, the problem disapeared but then came back. Sound breaks for a mili second then comes back, or, channel indicates sound but the main output indicator is dead. Please help 🙏

It’s a usb printer cable. I’m not sure if that’s the exact name but my point is you can’t just get anyone for your control, it should be the one that came with your device. So you should contact the manufacturer to get the exact one if you don’t have it.
I have the Big Sur version on my MacBook Pro, and using the usb cable that came with my DDJ-800 I can’t get any audio to my power speakers. When I plug it into my windows computer I get audio with no problem. I also have the latest version of rekordbox, and the newest audio driver as well. What else could be the issue? It plays the music through the computer, but not my pa speakers.

Adam Ganzer I have the same issue. Just got a ddj-800 and it’s been awesome, I just went 5 hours messing around and having a blast. My sound system only worked when I plugged them into my laptop instead of the controller directly. I can live with that. However I tried 2 different headphones, both 3.5mm, and neither worked so I’m not sure what’s going on. Since I’m brand new I suck anyway but it’s be nice to learn with headphones. Let me know if you hear anything please!
@Ryan C Sorry for the late response, what my problem is, is that ive been sending my mixer audio to my computer and using an aux cord to my monitors. If you use the correct cords youd be using the MASTER out on your mixer to your speakers/monitors and that would let you hear through the headphones and your cue and everything else. I honestly don't know why I havent thought of this sooner. I goofed and never got the correct cables because as soon as i got my mixer I just wanted to play play play and i already had good speakers so i felt like it didnt matter but ive also been trying to mix solely by ear and not using a cue or headphone button at all

Thank you for this bro I really appreciate it. I just replaced a faulty Roland 505 with a new ddj 800. I used it for a gig over the weekend with no problem. I came home and reconnected everything and no audio driver?!? I seen your video but the cord I’m using is the factory cord. I grabbed the one out of the 505 bag , hooked it up and everything went normal. Maybe I burnt out the factory cord idk? But I will be ordering a couple of spares. Thanks again

I just bought a ddj sb3 and i have tried everything. From setting my speakers to default instead of the dj controller, to trimming the sound and nothing works. I dont have a RCA cable because the way my speakers work is that those connected to the bass right. I have sound when the controller is not connected. This problem occurs in both virtual dj and Serato dj. I have also installed the firmware
That sounds like a complex issue. I wish i had something to suggest unfortunately i don’t. You should contact pioneer. Send them an e mail.

It's likely that the usb cable just needed to be re-seated. Alternatively, the cable is a standard usb type 2.0 A to B. Your cable could be bad and the other one you grabbed was a good one.
noticed the USB that would not transmit audio had those noise filters on it. Like the old Denon rack mount controller cables

You know where I could find a correct cable for a DDJ-SZ2. Rescued it from the pawn shop and I got no cables or owner manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Most love.

my problem is i cant get the turntables hooked up in the serato pro software with my s9 mixer everything is activated and the audio section wont provide the setup section my last thing would be the wrong usb cable as well but which one should I get thanks your vid is very helpful
Only the manufacturer would kno the exact cable to get I am really not sure cause i just used all of mine till i got one to work. Which ended up being the one that came with the Ddjs.

Hey Buddy, I use a DDJ SX2. I too hadn't used it for some months and suddenly had this same issue. I bought a high end USB A - USB B cable from a reputable source and hooked it up. For one hour, the problem disapeared but then came back. Sound breaks for a mili second then comes back, or, channel indicates sound but the main output indicator is dead. Please help 🙏

It’s a usb printer cable. I’m not sure if that’s the exact name but my point is you can’t just get anyone for your control, it should be the one that came with your device. So you should contact the manufacturer to get the exact one if you don’t have it.

I have the Big Sur version on my MacBook Pro, and using the usb cable that came with my DDJ-800 I can’t get any audio to my power speakers. When I plug it into my windows computer I get audio with no problem. I also have the latest version of rekordbox, and the newest audio driver as well. What else could be the issue? It plays the music through the computer, but not my pa speakers.
That is definitely a compatibility issue.

Adam Ganzer I have the same issue. Just got a ddj-800 and it’s been awesome, I just went 5 hours messing around and having a blast. My sound system only worked when I plugged them into my laptop instead of the controller directly. I can live with that. However I tried 2 different headphones, both 3.5mm, and neither worked so I’m not sure what’s going on. Since I’m brand new I suck anyway but it’s be nice to learn with headphones. Let me know if you hear anything please!
@Ryan C Sorry for the late response, what my problem is, is that ive been sending my mixer audio to my computer and using an aux cord to my monitors. If you use the correct cords youd be using the MASTER out on your mixer to your speakers/monitors and that would let you hear through the headphones and your cue and everything else. I honestly don't know why I havent thought of this sooner. I goofed and never got the correct cables because as soon as i got my mixer I just wanted to play play play and i already had good speakers so i felt like it didnt matter but ive also been trying to mix solely by ear and not using a cue or headphone button at all
I have the cable that came with the controller but I have to use an adapter for my Mac. I wonder if that matters?
