I don’t think McDonald’s values anybody, including their consumer base, but there are other food service establishments that definitely reciprocate what the employee puts in. They’re becoming increasingly rare, but they still exist. As far as it being meaningful, while it’s not literal rocket science, people who love food service are the reason why every time we order food it doesn’t take an hour to get a plate of inedible slop.

Even though it was just one meal, it was exhausting! We started at 7 am and ended at 4 pm. We always took meals up to the big guys and dolls upstairs and most of the time they had meetings that we had to cater too. Anyone who thinks working in a fast food joint, a restaurant or a cafeteria is easy is wrong. We didn’t have the conveniences they have now. I worked there during the summers when I was still in school and during holidays. I made $1.35 an hour, enough to make my car payment for my little blue bug. I absolutely hated it, but I learned responsibility, the art of working hard, and respect for my bosses. That’s what is missing in most youth these days.

As a worker of McDonald's for two years, this job is SO, SO much harder than they are making it look. I have been yelled at, called the most foul names people can call a person, had drinks and other things thrown at me, spit on multiple times, had my life threatened, and oh so much more. If you truly want the McDonald's worker experience, try it for a month and you'll see why I find this laughable attempt so sad.

I worked at a lunch cafeteria that was in the basement of the bank in the 70’s here in SoCal, and we served lunch to the employees and others in and around the bank buildings. Even though it was just one meal, it was exhausting! We started at 7 am and ended at 4 pm. We always took meals up to the big guys and dolls upstairs and most of the time they had meetings that we had to cater too. Anyone who thinks working in a fast food joint, a restaurant or a cafeteria is easy is wrong. We didn’t have the conveniences they have now. I worked there during the summers when I was still in school and during holidays. I made $1.35 an hour, enough to make my car payment for my little blue bug. I absolutely hated it, but I learned responsibility, the art of working hard, and respect for my bosses. That’s what is missing in most youth these days.

As a worker of McDonald's for two years, this job is SO, SO much harder than they are making it look. I have been yelled at, called the most foul names people can call a person, had drinks and other things thrown at me, spit on multiple times, had my life threatened, and oh so much more. If you truly want the McDonald's worker experience, try it for a month and you'll see why I find this laughable attempt so sad.
