      This has happened to countless mechanic channels under very similar circumstances. It seems to be an affront to moderators' egos that you made a useful video instead of a 20 paragraph reddit post with jumbled pictures at the top, worse UX than a vbulletin board DIY post from 20 years ago, where they have control over the life/death of your uncompensated efforts with a couple clicks. In their eyes you're not posting original research - you're trying to make a handful of bucks off the ad revenue. They really overestimate their importance and reach.
      It doesn't help that most of the products on their shelves are not the winners of these tests - they chose to become emotionally invested in them to be 'the best', without investing in any primary research and testing themselves. They've probably recommended inferior products before, or have relationships with the vendors of those products, and banning dissenters is a backwards way to save face.

    Man that is just crazy how many hours you put into all this for us Scott.. I so very much appreciate your time and I will be sending you some funds for your time man might be a few weeks till I get paid but I will be donating... But Thank you, Scott.. you're the man.. I watch you and "Pan the organizer" about the only 2 I listen to for products.. I trust you guys.. pan does get paid but he is at least honest about it.. The thing pan doesn't really do and You do.. he doesn't do longevity really.. he will do the chemical test but ya hardly ever see longevity test out of him.. as to where you do that... and to me, that's a lot more important.. the chemical thing is a maybe that will happen.. how long a product lasts is a lot more important to me, then if another chemical will kill the wax/ceramic or not.. just my opinion..

    Hey Scott. Love your videos.
    Re constructive criticism.
    The margin of error re sling seems quite large on these tests. Paper weights varrying by .07 seems minimal. But when you are looking at products that sling between .003 and .5g. It seems too me like recording the paper weights pre and post sling would be more accurate (altho monotous pay a shop hamd.too weight paper maybe?)
    Also re the dust testing. Some of the dust results really surprise me. I live in northern alberta. Being surrounded in farmland and lots of.oilfield traffic dragging mud onto the highways means dust accumulation is a big factor for me.
    I feel that the dust accumulation on many of these products is much different at speeds then they are while standing still. Maybe next time spin them up? And then deploy a predetermined weight of dust near the tire too see what sticks? I think ot would take some experimentation too find the most aggressive way too deploy the dust. But i dont feel that throwing random amounts of dust at the products in a random pattern is not the most accurate representation of things/testing methodology.
    CP perl for example seemed too be very attractive too dust in this test. Which does not line up with my testing up here?
    Awesome video as always and i know a pile of work went into both videos. Keep up the good work. I wish i had the time too do more testing like this myself

    Thank you Scott for such an extensive video! Chiming in on the Duplicolor Tire Paint, I have bought 4 cans of it and each had a different spray pattern or mixture. One can would not spray right unless you were shaking the can while spraying, even then it was like sprayed on orange peel. The first can I had was the only one that sprayed with a fine uniform coating requiring only 1 coat, the other 3 did not. So something is up with the nozzles and/or mixture. Might check out the Lonestar one if and when the Duplicolor wears off.

    Loved the video but the next time you do this type of video on rubber, can you let it sit over night? Normally we don’t wash our car 30 min after dressing the tires...maybe this would help the longevity of the shine..

    No ETHOS Tire Shine???
    After trying a dozen or more over the past few decades, that is the one I like the best and have settled on as my go-to.

    I've been using Adam's VRT for years but unfortunately the product isn't shelf stable over a year or two, especially in an unconditioned garage. The product separates and it doesn't seem possible to get it well-mixed again. I also would like a look closer to what the Lone Star provides. The VRT looks great at first, but as it wears off it looks uglier than pre-coating.

    When i used to detail cars at the Freidman Toyota in des moines, iowa back in 90/91, we had this blue tire dressing that smelled like vanilla. Ive never seen anything up and til today that could be used inside and out that lasted that long. Im interested dude, show us what ya got!👍

    Hi Scott. When I wash my cars, I always scrub my tires with a degreaser and then apply some kind of short lived tire dressing. If I use one of the dressings from your video that appears to last a while, should I still scrub it off and reapply every time I wash or should I just hose off the tires with water each time I wash until the dressing fails and then reapply?

    • @ScottHD
      @ScottHD  2 года назад

      Great question - in my experience, you wouldn't have to remove every time for ones like Lone Star or Dura dressing. The others, yes I would continue to prep as you have been doing
