I like investing in close-end funds that pay monthly dividends. The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or when ever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like regular stock. That’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between $50k to $70k in dividend income
I agree! That's why it is advisable that you have to invest while you still have a regular job or earning a regular income, and do it constantly. Impressive video. I started a bit late (graduated from my doctorate program at age 30 in 2016 with 170k in school loan debt). Managed to pay off my debt by 2019 and currently have a house and 250k total in investments (combo of profit share, 401k and a brokerage account). I'm not very knowledgeable in investing, so I just have my investing currently in index funds mainly voo, but have been putting a lot into schd the past few months. I dunno if that's the optimal strategy, but psychologically it is very set it and forget it, and prevents me from obsessing over individual stock performance.

(Then more at 5:15 AM and another round at 5:30 AM). I simply can not physically get up near market open and be a functional person, especially w a family. 9 pm - 5 am is my 8 hours of rest. Well, I recommend you make a diversification plan because it's been harder to build a good financial portfolio since COVID. My colleague suggested I hire an advisor. Appreciate sharing this. Its alot of work for sure. I focus on mainly 1-2 items to trade. I cant imagine how difficult scanning that many stocks would be. Ever thought about scaling down the amount of things you look at. i dont know how you manage to find and follow a setup when your list has like 30 or more. would be difficult to jump in the best ones of the day when there is that many. Thats just for me at least. Keep up the great routine and dicipline.

Good point , seeing as an estimated 3-5% ( closer to 2-3% in Dec 21) of world population owns crypto. To grow to 1B in year would be amazing! However, with the current state of things , zthat growth might be low estimate the US/USD , continue to debase, etc have been and continue worsening.

You guys, it doesnt have to be as complicated as this guy, regardless of where you live. I live on the west coast & wake up in the morning being done trading before the market opens. Looking at one chart before bed. None of the stampede that equities is only capable of offering.
Damn. Just trade SPX options, wake up at 9, done by 12. No 50 stock long watchlists, i highly highly recommend trying it instead of the crazy long setups.
Suggestion from another west coast trader: 1. Wait to scan for gaps until after 5am, that's when a lot of gap runs start to happen. I wait until 6 to compile my gap list. 2. After sleeping and being immobile for many hours go for a 20 minute walk in the morning before starting your work day. That little bit of exercise and fresh air is great for the body and mind. And helps break up the time spent immobile (sleep time plus trading time is a long stretch of inactivity.) I boot my system then go for a walk.
Is there a trading platform I can use to buy and sell in one order? For example, currently, if I want to buy and sell quickly, I have to go through each command separately and it takes time. Often times, by the time I click on "sell" and input my price, the profits are already gone. I'd like to basically enter a buy option at a price and then a sell option at another price once the buy executes. Is this a thing?
Hey James, nice setup there. I switched from scalping equities for a few years to futures almost the last two years now. I'll never go back to equities...Have you ever traded futures at all? Keeps it simple, no populating watchlists, no hopping from stock to stock, all I trade now is either Nasdaq or S&P contracts. Leverage is very high, initial margins are low and day trade rates are even lower. And given the time I can scalp Sunday nights when they open up if I want. Great video.

I like investing in close-end funds that pay monthly dividends. The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or when ever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like regular stock. That’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between $50k to $70k in dividend income
I agree! That's why it is advisable that you have to invest while you still have a regular job or earning a regular income, and do it constantly. You still need to have something that will keep you going even if you're investing. Good financial planning and money allocation is the key. Impressive video. I started a bit late (graduated from my doctorate program at age 30 in 2016 with 170k in school loan debt). Managed to pay off my debt by 2019 and currently have a house and 250k total in investments (combo of profit share, 401k and a brokerage account). I'm not very knowledgeable in investing, so I just have my investing currently in index funds mainly voo, but have been putting a lot into schd the past few months. I dunno if that's the optimal strategy, but psychologically it is very set it and forget it, and prevents me from obsessing over individual stock performance.

We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. I'm also a West Coast trader. Nice to see you get started at 4:30 AM. I settled on 5 AM wake up time because that seems to be when lots of news first starts hitting. (Then more at 5:15 AM and another round at 5:30 AM). I simply can not physically get up near market open and be a functional person, especially w a family. 9 pm - 5 am is my 8 hours of rest.
All those screens seem like overkill to me, but I wouldn't mind having at least one big screen and a really solid computer👍

It looks like one window with just one header bar. I have multiple individual charts that I have to link, so that they all show the same symbol.

Well, I recommend you make a diversification plan because it's been harder to build a good financial portfolio since COVID. My colleague suggested I hire an advisor. Appreciate sharing this. Its alot of work for sure. I focus on mainly 1-2 items to trade. I cant imagine how difficult scanning that many stocks would be. Ever thought about scaling down the amount of things you look at. i dont know how you manage to find and follow a setup when your list has like 30 or more. would be difficult to jump in the best ones of the day when there is that many. Good point , seeing as an estimated 3-5% ( closer to 2-3% in Dec 21) of world population owns crypto. To grow to 1B in year would be amazing! However, with the current state of things , zthat growth might be low estimate the US/USD , continue to debase, etc have been and continue worsening.

You guys, it doesnt have to be as complicated as this guy, regardless of where you live. I live on the west coast & wake up in the morning being done trading before the market opens. Looking at one chart before bed. None of the stampede that equities is only capable of offering.

Damn. Just trade SPX options, wake up at 9, done by 12. No 50 stock long watchlists, i highly highly recommend trying it instead of the crazy long setups.

Suggestion from another west coast trader: 1. Wait to scan for gaps until after 5am, that's when a lot of gap runs start to happen. I wait until 6 to compile my gap list. 2. After sleeping and being immobile for many hours go for a 20 minute walk in the morning before starting your work day. That little bit of exercise and fresh air is great for the body and mind. And helps break up the time spent immobile (sleep time plus trading time is a long stretch of inactivity.) I boot my system then go for a walk.

Is there a trading platform I can use to buy and sell in one order? For example, currently, if I want to buy and sell quickly, I have to go through each command separately and it takes time. Often times, by the time I click on "sell" and input my price, the profits are already gone. I'd like to basically enter a buy option at a price and then a sell option at another price once the buy executes. Is this a thing?
Hey James, nice setup there. I switched from scalping equities for a few years to futures almost the last two years now. I'll never go back to equities...Have you ever traded futures at all? Keeps it simple, no populating watchlists, no hopping from stock to stock, all I trade now is either Nasdaq or S&P contracts. Leverage is very high, initial margins are low and day trade rates are even lower. And given the time I can scalp Sunday nights when they open up if I want. Great video.

Great to see your setup and routine! Impressive! Just to make it clear to anyone who may be starting out on their trading journey, I got profitable back in the day on a crappy desk and laptop with two average pc monitor screens so while the routine is super important (disciplined routine) you dont need a mega dollar setup to become profitable. note/ I trade currencies and indices, but the principles remain identical.

instead of looking multiple time frame charts, Follow one single time frame charts.
Like in India I follow only Daily/weekly charts to check what's the mega trend and after that trade in 5 minutes charts only.
Daily and weekly charts analysis can be done after markets are over.

Oh man! 4:30. That's wild. I wake up at 6:10. LOL I mostly only trade the SPY. No need for all that prep. Just get my daily bias the night before and quickly scan pre-market to see if the bias holds and boom. Off we go.

That's a lot of work for not even beating the benchmark. But as long as you're having fun doing it, why not.
