I’m on the backside of 73 and I believe my first experience with TV was a westerner. Been hooked ever since. Growing up in Nevada horses, Gymkhanas, and open desert were common place. Taking horses out riding in the desert and camping out was such fun. Looking back I wish I would have realized it more back then. Even now I watch more reruns than the new special effects movies that dominate the screen. Unfortunately the western seems to be a thing of the past and if one gets made it’s usually junk grade C type. I even knew a girl named Sassy! And she was… thank you Sassy … Enjoyed your chat and story telling…
What I think is worth commenting on is to your point of things didn’t suddenly change in a 20 year period,or basically overnight. I’m a lot older , and I can attest than signifiant social changes occur over decades, with grey periods separating them. If a young fighting warrior was 16 in 1860 , he’s only going to be 36 in 1880, and still a young man and likely set in his way. Things don’t go extinct quickly, there’s always remaining pockets until that generation dies out. Excellent story telling.
As a person who was in LTR, but who is now after many years again in STR, and ending up late some nights, trying to be productive: thanks for being there Josh… and letting us know we’re not alone and that people like yourselves show we can all be in life, sustainably and enjoyably present, and still have some fun. “ we are not a glum lot”, so thanks for bringing with you some smiles and laughter, to your audience and to me, along with some fantastic history made interesting with your “perspectives…” on the past. - a FOB
Thanks Josh for your Love of the days of our American Heritage of history that shaped this country the wild and woolly west a page in time you carved out real lives that formed my interest and I thank you 🙏 ❤
Your definitely the most entertaining guy doing the Old West Justice .... even your bad jokes ARE GOOD ... keep Turing out content ... I’m forwarding your site to all the like minded friends of mine .. keep up the good work !!!
Holy smokes! It's a Christmas miracle. I can't think of anything more appetizing than 4 hour Wild West Extravaganza, except maybe a T-bone steak thick cut.
That was the most enjoyable monologue I have had the enormous pleasure of listening to. Your voice and presentation are excellent. Many thanks from England😊
Dude you’re awesome lmao. Absolutely loving your channel. Started with Jim Bridger and I got goosebumps with the Lonesome Dove video when I watching it this morning. This stuff is in our souls, you’re so embedded mentally (and maybe physically) in the knowledge and the history and it really shows.
Great content Josh enjoy your stories 💯 only distraction from these great stories is a single Pic, slide pics would be the cherry on top being it's a video. Good day to ya Potner
Thanks! No time to create a video. Even a ten minute slide, done right, takes several hours. Once I can afford it I'll be paying someone to create video though.
That fictional story you had in the beginning made me think of how weak mentally I am. LOl😂 I thought it was about a real man at first, until you told us otherwise. I was disappointed it wasn’t real. Your have a gift from mythology and stories for sure dude. Good luck. Keep that spirit and storytelling. I like how you said, “save one bullet for yourself, but we’re not doing that we’re too mean. “ (paraphrased) That’s a great line and a great philosophy for bad situations in life. Whatever they are. Good luck.
I served in the 2SCR from 2007-2010. The 2SCR is currently the only continuously serving Regiment from 1836 to now. Its cool to hear about some of the Regiment's History prior to my service. THANKS for that.👊🇺🇸
The 87 seconds of Doc and Johnny's fight, Almost made me crash this this morning!!! 😂😂😂 You are AWESOME at what you do Brotha, But that's gotta be some of your Best Work!!! Be Blessed Man!😎👍😂
I’ve been listening to a lot of your videos over the last few weeks. You do such an amazing job. Love the stories and your humor just makes it fantastic. Thank you!!!
Greetings from Dragoon Arizona Tombstone is nearby and I camp often at Cochises stronghold So glad I discovered your channel. Keep up the good work and I'll keep listening. Happy trails Josh
Thank you so much my guy. The intro where you imagine the battle with the Apache. I listened to 2x Josh. Well done partner. Also you been schooling me on some wild West facts I didn't know. Is amazing I wish my old man was around to hear these. We used to watch old Westerns one after another never say a word except the occasional " Damn" or " hell yeah" ended up being some of the best times I had with him. Now I'm able to share with my boys got them into it through your videos so your videos do more than you known , keep on keeping on, Shannon Bradley, Greenville SC

Keep up the hard work ..I told all buddies at work to check u out..really like the long videos...makes work go by faster and I love learning new stuff..and the little smart ass funny comments u throw in are Great 😃
I like listening to the podcast would like to see Josh do separate videos for each outlaw except only the narrative from the hearsay side the folklore version of each
The image used in this video is of a modern reenactor named Floyd Oydegaard in Northern California, taken circa late 1990s - early 2000s by a wetplate colodian artist named William Dunniway. Great character image of a modern reenactor who is a nice guy but this picture is often confused with being an original image of an 1800s era outlaw. Great monologue. Floyd's picture went with it nicely.
You should check out one of my ancestors.. Robert M Jones . He was a half blood Choctaw voted president of Choctaw, creek, Chickasaw tribes in the late 1800’s. Very interesting story .
In the early 90s I seen a dogman traveling with a young family of Saskwatch in north western Ontario. At Trowbridge falls in thunder bay. Now living in South Eastern Ontario in the Niagara region I wouldn't believe me now either but I k ow what we saw as young teenagers.
I'm only about 2 hours in so maybe you answer this later, but what is the picture you're using? Is that a real historical figure? If so who is it? Or if it's from a movie or show, what one? Thanks
@@WildWestExtravaganza well whoever it is looks awesome as an old west outlaw. It reminds me of in the 80s when they would have Randall Tex Cobb play a bad guy biker in so many movies
@@jimobrien84 I was wondering the same thing. Apparently the man in the photo is a reenactor named Floyd Douglass Peterson Øydegaard, the photo was taken in 1994. I was disappointed this was not a real outlaw, he looks perfect for the part.

The tough don't change but the gun technology does. Cap & ball Colt don't compare to a .45 PeaceMaker.🤔
