What a powerful performance. So incredible how he only needs his voice and piano to encapsulate the raw emotion of the original song. I may enjoy this version as much as the original Who recording.
Every once and awhile when I'm gushing about music to people, especially if it has to do with pianos or covers, I always pull up this video and your Eminence Front one. I don't remember the first time I ever watched this, but it's literally never left my mind. There's something about how you've captured the essence of what it feels like to LISTEN to the song. To call it just a cover or rendition is an understatement. As a pianist growing up, it was videos like these that pushed me to try and make the piano sound not just like an instrument, but the music it represented. Props stew. I'll probably remember/watch it till I die.
That means more to me than you know. When I set out to recreate this masterpiece, I was very concerned with creating the power and spirit of the song as it was recorded by the entire band. I didn't just want to make a piano cover. I wanted to create, to the best of my ability, the "essence" of the original recording. That's not to say that I achieved it, but I wanted to come as close as I could. Thank you for recognizing that I had that goal in mind. And thank you for watching. And I'm glad you have enjoyed it.
Wait can u explain what you mean by that, do you mean the note that sounds like a bum note he was actually trying to play to sound like the guitar bend in the song? O
@@AlanAttack If anyone could catch it, it would be you, Alan. that was indeed the intent. But maybe it wasn't the best choice to attempt to replicate a string bend on a piano.
As someone who plays piano, I can tell you how hard it is to sing a song while playing it at the same time. Especially when you don't know the lyrics really well. Great job man!
I am seeing the Who in Boston for the 20th time in 35 years in March and Boston. I have been back watching this cover for years now. Ayy mclovin is a legend bro. But this is honestly one of the best covers that I’ve ever seen. You’re a man of the absolute sheer fucking determination.
Oh you very lucky and talented person, I sick with envy at seeing you play and sing it all. Grew up to The Who and saw them live so many times, their music especially certain songs such as Bab O'Riley marks various points in my life. Now coming up to 70 and bought my self a Yamaha Organ been teaching my self to play, is because before I die want to be able to create the music of my life as oppose just listen to it. i know I doubt I have the years left and energy to learn what you can do, which as others on here have said is pure magic because you can do it with out an arpeggiator.
The greatest obstacle, in my experience, is getting prematurely discouraged. I found that the most difficult pieces to learn eventually came, even though they came so so so much later than I expected. If you keep working at it, you can't help but achieve it.
You've commented several times. I think I owe you a debt of gratitude. Thanks for all the props. I'm getting ready to start making more videos after a bit of a break. any requests?

Dude take your ultra spazzy boney fingers and start playing for a living! Hurry now you're missing your calling! Where did this guy come from? All jokes aside great job playing and singing that song Bro. You are amazing.
Thanks a lot, but you really shouldn't be discouraged. I've never been able to figure out synthesizers. I want to, but they are just intimidating to me. I've put all my time into figuring out how to make my piano sound like one. :P
DUDE PLEASE DO HOW TO VIDS or like get one of those programs that write the sheet music as you play it. I'd pay a lot of money for this and your "They Way It Is" covers lol just saying. I love to play piano and I have a good ear, but it would take me a very, very long time to put in all the notes exactly like they sound in the original song as you've done here. All sheet music pieces I find for great piano songs like these are all crappy versions. Legit please do this hahahaha
Stewboz83, please realise you are talented at this and obviously the practice you've put in really shows. But you have an adeptness because you can coordinate both hands whilst arpeggiating which most people can't do. This is beyond belief. Hats off, sir. Incredible rendition of one of my all-time favorite songs. Thank you.
Even after all these years, this channel is my main inspiration for "The Who songs piano cover". And I hope someday to hear you perform Behind Blue Eyes with that amazing and charismatic way to play piano!
I wish to give you Stew a personal thank you....I have watched this video at least 100 times this year...I cannot live without it....you've inspired me to get back to music and pick up my Guitar/play my Piano because its a gift in life....and this is still my favourite music video of all time....Happy Christmas dude.
15 years and one of the best Videos ever seen...
15 years? my god.
PLEASE NEVER DELETE THIS AWSOME VIDEO!!!
You are very talented; brilliant rendition! THANK YOU! Two Thumbs up!
You, sir, are indescribably and wonderfully incredible. there is no other word for this other than amazing. I have never before heard such complexity and fulness on just one instrument! And to top it all off, you're singing at the same time!!!!! Plus its so nice to see someone else around my age who likes real music. Virtual standing ovation.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thought I'd make my pilgrimage before the new year...been an awful year, the worst of my life....but suddenly...Stewboz has made everything right...again.
Very very best. Thanks for show us your skils with your heart.
