  • In this video I speak with my friend and colleague Neysa Young about the job of Pattern Maker. Neysa and I worked together at Gap Inc. in the pattern making department and then again as pattern making instructors at the California College of the Arts.
Pattern making is the process by which one creates a "Blueprint" of the 3 dimensional garment. It can be done using traditional techniques working flat on paper or 3 dimensionally by placing fabric on a dress form.
I hope you enjoy this informative conversation with Neysa and Myself.
    Until Next time, happy Fashion!

It was lovely listening to Neysa. I met her at Linda Lewis way back in December 1989 where I worked freelance for a month. I left for a full-time job and then met up with Neysa again in April 1996 at Gap. Patternmaking is a wonderful career and a skill that one can be proud of. I spent 40 years in it and loved it every day.
