Leviathan's breath does have intrinsic volatile. They talked about it on a previous TWAB. Also, one thing to note about Levi's Breath is that getting lunafaction boots or a rally barricade bumps its DPS considerably, since the reload takes a large amount of time
@@lou_o3282I'm not sure if this is just me or how the game works now, but every time I've got an exotic equipped with the catalyst source having been sunset, doing something like a Nightfall or raid, or even Crucible, drops that weapon's catalyst for me.
Remember in the RoN raid there is a raid mod called "precise jolts" this increases Tlord DPS something like +20% if you're hitting a decent # of precision shots.
As a late levi breath user who picked it up after the catalyst got archer's tempo I am happy that it's getting the regconition it deserves . One thing I do wanna mention is that while levi breath does have intrinsic volatile on perfect draw , this season has volatile flow , so if you have volatile rounds on you , you don't actually need to do perfect draws of the bow to get volatile , this means you can pre charge the bow like a regular bow , it really helps on higher tier champion based content where you don't want to be exposed for too long like spamming tlord into an overload , as you can precharge the weapon then peak and quickly return to cover after your shot . Dps wise the bow is extremely reliant on archer's tempo proccing . It is very valid to give up volatile on the first shot (volatile is not amazing for dps anyways) to pre prep the arrow so you don't have that really slow first shot . Works wonders against bosses where you pretty much know when and where dmg starts , like explicator in the new raid or oryx etc ...
2 other things of note: Leviathans breath applies extremely high stun (the boss was stun locked and never moved from its starting position). Thunderlord regens your super extremely quickly. It's possible to drop 2 supers during 1 damage phase.
Thunderlord against nezarec also has the bonus of not being as punishing for missing shots/crits as other options considering how he moves with his attacks, missing a rocket vs nezarec means a lot more than missing a couple of bullets from thunderlord, even if you have to reset the rate of fire increase
Ease of use does not make a damage method better. Rockets kill faster. If you can't hit the boss standing right in front of you it is a skill issue. Same with blowing yourself/teammates up, just don't strafe during damage. The Root of Nightmares bosses being so weak have blown the damage "meta" out of proportion since almost anything can one phase with proper setup.
@@serendus whether or not it makes it better is debatable. I think the correct term is consistent. If you miss a chunk of damage because a rocket misses, which, if 6 people are shooting rockets and one misses, that would be inconsistent damage compared to 6 people using thunderlord and one misses a few bullets.
A huuuuge thing contributing to Levi's breath DPS is reload speed, being in a Luna well or behind a rally berricade will substantially increase the amount of arrows you can fire and the rate yoy can fire them with the catalyst upm so if push comes to shove and there's no Luna or rally, put on a void loader perk, it'll help tenfold
It was mentioned in a TWAB last season that it would get intrinsic Volatile. But like some of the other exotic weapon upgrades this season, it does not have it updated in the description of the weapon.
Leviathan's breath paired with hunter's oathkeeper gauntlet is a guaranteed perfect draw every draw which you can draw and hold forever. Also the oathkeepers increase the draw speed of every bow by 30ms, a detail that still stand but bungie removed that tiny bit of info

Late response, but a thing I love about levi's over thunderlord, is that in all use content, it seems ammo bricks drop a lot more often for it compared to other heavy weapons, its not often that I run into an ammo struggle with it so long as ad's are around to die. pair with a secondary that has lead for gold, ammo economy is constantly sustained. Plus built in volatile, and very high stagger on so many champions/bosses, it's hard for me to ever take it off
Oathkeeper with levi's breath speed's up the draw time alot too, it doesn't mention it on oathkeeper's but it's a werid synergy that's there where outside of providing the AE benefit and the never letting go of the bow draw it also speeds up draw time as well. Well not just on Levi's breath but any bow it's just more noticeable with that one.
something else to note about leviathans breath vs rocket launchers is the MUCH better ammo economy. A small brick will give Levi Breath about 3-4 arrows, but will only give a RL one rocket. It also is self sufficient - no need for a teammate with gally; and the volatile it applies can be triggered by other teammates. Finally: this damage testing includes witherhoard damage in all of the other weapons, which is especially worth noting for cataclysmic, where witherhoard ammo is mandatory for B+S to proc. Witherhoard has very commendable damage, so it is absolutely worth noting this when calculating "total damage" of one weapon.
What would be the best way to get the catalyst done now that wrathborn are gone? @sxcculent I had completely forgotten that the acolyte is a wrathborn, guess I'll test that out and see what the progress gain is. At shuro chi, I would get 3% per run for killing absolutely everything. If this one enemy can make it a little bit quicker then I'll just kill him and his bloodline over and over lol. Thank you for the reminder
I've been using this bow for a few seasons, mostly just so I can get an unstoppable weapon in my heavy slot for lost sectors and stuff. It's a really great bow.
I think the sad thing is Ehroar missed that Leviathan's Breath benefits from the artifact mod Void Weapon Channeling. Giving it a damage boost that stacks up to 25% for just getting a void weapon kill.
There’s a bug with void weapon channeling rn which not only causes it to override Void Surge mods, but it also when void channeling runs out but you still have armor charges, you won’t be getting the damage boost from void surge. Just use 3x void surge for 22% damage.
An important factor to remember for thunderlord is that it only gets better the longer damage phases last, this is quite evident with encounters like the Templar in VoG or the War Priest in King's Fall. If you can get the entire capacity of the weapon into the boss, the amount of damage you accrue is just ridiculous. It's also more forgiving too, if you miss a crit with a linear you lose a massive chunk of damage, meanwhile with Thunderlord, if it's astronomical aim assist doesn't help enough, you can still walk it back on, only dealing a few non-precision hits and go back to hitting those higher damage numbers. I convinced my clan for one run of King's Fall to try and damage bosses with just thunderlord (We did have a Div-b*tch though, but he was more than happy to do it). The results we didn't talk about much, we didn't have the breath for it we were laughing too hard.
Honestly I just like when something other than rockets and linears are meta, (even tho yes the rockets are still the best) it’s nice that there are other options
Rockets are better dps but not everything is about raw dps. Harder content often requires multiple dps phases. So having a large reserve of ammo that can clear adds and deal substantial boss damage is definitely a solid choice
Levi Breath carried me through solo legendary campaign and made is EASY AF. This thing hits 3 times and does kinda crazy damage. But it STUN LOCKS huge bosses including Calus at the end of the campaign on legendary.
There are a few guns I'm really curious about - the new and improved (and non-nerfed) Queenbreaker, and the new Deterministic Chaos - and the Heir Apparent. The Heir has 200 rounds in the mag at 900 rpm, and if you can finagle a fast reload when it runs dry it might not suck, like using the Strand class where a grenade toss reloads.
Levi's Breath also stunlocks bosses. Every shot staggers them and by the next shot it they won't be done with the animation so you hit them again and the boss cannot fire back.
I been using leviathans breath this season trying to get the catalyst and man it is kicking ass after getting the catalyst. I don’t think I’m letting this down
You can melt taniks with thunderlord. Run 3 arc surges, a divinity and debuff with tether. You can almost get him to final stand during the 1st part of dps and can almost kill him before he teleports during final stand.
I think a lot of people don't consider how nice the LB travel time is. It's like a hit scan rocket. Getting kills for the catalyst in dares and you can just cross map majors from crazy distances. No way a rocket actually hits from those distances with travel time.
How is Thunderlord reloading so fast in the Boss DPS clip? Whenever I hit all my shots with Thunderlord, I end up having to reload because I run out of rounds in the mag.
lets not forget that running thunderlord or leviathan's means that not only is it easier to still do very good damage, you also dont have to run warlock and even if you do, you now have a choice of whatever exotic armor you want, instead of just the chestpiece for fusion spam.
Levi's is smacking this season. Used it the whole legendary campaign. The twab said it the got the volatile change at perfect draw and 20% damage boost to champions.
what a time to be alive where Levi AND Thunderlord are actually good at DPS. The thing about Levi is it does like +30% against Champs so it’s specifically a Champ-killer. It will be meta in GMs finally.
thunderlord has been my favorite exotic since d1, it may not have been meta in much but its always been good imo, especially after the rework and catalyst
I will say that Levis can do amazing stagger to bosses (you can stunlock Persys and he never gets close to you). However out of solo play that can be a huge issue as it makes your team trying to hit crits a nightmare unless you have a Div
I have been using this all season to finish the masterwork. I am using it with solar titan. I have noticed the void blast at the end. Will working on the catalyst hitting adds with precision hits would proc that volatile blast and take out adds next to it-causing me to have less things to kill to get masterwork done-I assume extraneous kills don’t count. I have always liked this bow but it’s draw time was a negative and it’s low ammo quiver amount. Hopefully after getting it masterworked it’ll be really good! Only have 8% more to go.
it does have intrinsic volatile rounds. it seems to not have a set proc time as it has gone off just about whenever it wants after you shoot. sometimes a second after sometimes 2 seconds after. not very consistent which is kinda annoying.
I think other than using lunafaction or titan barricade? Oathkeeper will also pump up the damage since it always gonna give u perfect draw(I think) so will always give the volatile, and I think oathkeeper also give about like I think 2frame(don’t remember where I heard tht from) quicker draw time so does help draw the bow quicker. So oathkeeper would be a good hunter exotic to use with leviathan breath with a void build, and with well lock with Luna or titan barricade
Levi's also destroys tormentors, unless I was missing something in the raid it 1 shots the shoulders. one arrow hits a shoulder and the blast destroys the other. Sadly when you shoot the chest the blast does less damage due to tormentors DR
The best part about Leviathan and Thunderlord is that you don't need to farm for them to get the perfect dps drop. You get one, you get the caty, you get 500 kills, and then you get to do damage
Something I noticed, but I thought I’d point it out cause it wasn’t mentioned. At the end of the Thunderlord clip on the dungeon boss (8:35), the buff list shows you have a x3 Arc Weapon Boost active, was that intentional? And if so then was the same respective weapon boost used for the other weapons as well?

I've been using this bow for a few seasons, mostly just so I can get an unstoppable weapon in my heavy slot for lost sectors and stuff. It's a really great bow.
the ult bar going up at the thunderlord rof is soo satisfying
pretty sure the perks state that precision fully drawn arrows cause volatile
I’m a thunderlord believer. This dude convinced the whole LFG to run it on rhulk lol. Easiest most stress free way to take an LFG to victory
Small thing to add for thunderlords and div... LOOK AT THAT SUPER BAR FILLING. holy shiiiiiiiiit!
Just use 3x void surge for 22% damage.
i would also like to mention that levis breath has aoe, so if you shoot it at the ground in a group of ads itll hit all of them around it
An important factor to remember for thunderlord is that it only gets better the longer damage phases last, this is quite evident with encounters like the Templar in VoG or the War Priest in King's Fall.
I've loved this thing since it's first big buff several seasons ago. Happy to see it's got even more going for it now.
Honestly I just like when something other than rockets and linears are meta, (even tho yes the rockets are still the best) it’s nice that there are other options
Perfect take.
Facts it gets pretty boring spamming nadrs
Rockets are better dps but not everything is about raw dps. Harder content often requires multiple dps phases. So having a large reserve of ammo that can clear adds and deal substantial boss damage is definitely a solid choice
leviathans breath doing volatile was repeatedly mentioned by bungie pre lightfall. the descriptions of all the updated exotics are bugged
Levi Breath carried me through solo legendary campaign and made is EASY AF.
This thing hits 3 times and does kinda crazy damage. But it STUN LOCKS huge bosses including Calus at the end of the campaign on legendary.
When are we getting the merciless video? Merciless is a monster this expansion I've been using it with hezen
Thunderlord is nasty this season. Love when we have good MGs, since Bungie has this obsession with making them trash.
it was in a twab that the added volitile to it
One important thing with Levi breath... the Boss get's pushed back. He doesnt shot.
Something to note on thunderlord it gave the entire super back from the consistent damage you did the whole phase.
One of my favorite heavys of all time. Good to see it getting some love
Every shot staggers them and by the next shot it they won't be done with the animation so you hit them again and the boss cannot fire back.
if breath has built in volatile, does this mean it pierces barriers as well as stuns unstops?
I been using leviathans breath this season trying to get the catalyst and man it is kicking ass after getting the catalyst. I don’t think I’m letting this down
Bungie added volatile as an intrinsic one or two seasons ago, I remember reading about it in a twab
Many were sleeping on Levi for a long time. It blew ME away when i got it and gave it few runs recently.
How was i missing on it????
I heard that if you use a rally barricade to max out the handling, it decreases the draw time and that also scales with archers tempo
Probably rally barricade increasing reload speed
Its the reload speed since thats a pretty big part of bows is the reload and draw
You can melt taniks with thunderlord. Run 3 arc surges, a divinity and debuff with tether. You can almost get him to final stand during the 1st part of dps and can almost kill him before he teleports during final stand.
I got the catalyst yesterday and used the bow. It feels good and is very strong but still it won’t surpass lament for me in regular content.
Something that I noticed while using Levi this season is that it does have a weird hidden damage that it does after all the damage numbers.
finally, my leviathan's breath get's acknowledged
lets not forget that running thunderlord or leviathan's means that not only is it easier to still do very good damage, you also dont have to run warlock and even if you do, you now have a choice of whatever exotic armor you want, instead of just the chestpiece for fusion spam.
theres nothing else even worth running on warlock
@@gone7131 there are some other pretty good builds on warlock they litterally just cant compete it terms of raw dps
@@BretMFNTaylor thats just not true starfire has healing now and ad clear theres no other build that can do what it can do
This is such a great season because of the fact that these 2 weapons are so meta. Seriously it’s awesome.
The div bubble helps thunderlord by double proccing the returned ammo effect making it so it never reloads
Do you have a video of this?
Levi's is smacking this season. Used it the whole legendary campaign. The twab said it the got the volatile change at perfect draw and 20% damage boost to champions.
It’s nice to know that as a warlock main, there will still be really good dps options once Starfire is nerfed into irrelevance next season.
I love how Leviathan's Breath hits so hard and in AoE but doesn't have the risk of you killing yourself with it.
I need to finish the catalyst. It takes so long. Just running Dares over and over seems to be the best way for me.
I’m glad you saw the Ehroar in your ways
what a time to be alive where Levi AND Thunderlord are actually good at DPS. The thing about Levi is it does like +30% against Champs so it’s specifically a Champ-killer. It will be meta in GMs finally.
Recent buff made perfect draws grant a volatile round to the arrow
It’s massively good now!
thunderlord has been my favorite exotic since d1, it may not have been meta in much but its always been good imo, especially after the rework and catalyst
Heir apparent is crazy slept on rn. I'm consistently out damaging thunderlord with heir
I will say that Levis can do amazing stagger to bosses (you can stunlock Persys and he never gets close to you). However out of solo play that can be a huge issue as it makes your team trying to hit crits a nightmare unless you have a Div
so we dont talk about how u completely stunlock the spire boss in spawn? thats bigger than any dps in a GM or underlevel in general.
@@GreaseShaman but you dont use waveframes for dps do you
I have been using this all season to finish the masterwork.
I really need to take leviathans for a spin.
Fun tip: This weapon can 3-tap Sedia in the Corrupted strike when heavyweight is on.
it does have intrinsic volatile rounds. it seems to not have a set proc time as it has gone off just about whenever it wants after you shoot. sometimes a second after sometimes 2 seconds after. not very consistent which is kinda annoying.
I've been rocking Levi's for a while. Love that thing.
Starfire Protocol is definitely a problem though, so expect that to be less effective in the near future.
Thunderlord is life. Thunderlord is DEATH.
The best part about Leviathan and Thunderlord is that you don't need to farm for them to get the perfect dps drop. You get one, you get the caty, you get 500 kills, and then you get to do damage
1500 for Leviathan's Breath
I’ve been talking about leviathans breath since the expansion launched and I’m so glad people are finally waking up to them
Did they make the catalyst any faster to grind out? Last i remember it requires 1200 kills or somethin around that margin since wrathborns are gone.
