    There's an "off-menu item" that stumps me as to why it's not "on the menu:" The Kahler rout. It's purely a CNC shaping option and a $10 charge. And it's been available since _at least_ the Nineties.

    Makes a lot of sense, and in many cases goes without saying. The only thing that has me scratching my head is that the whole point of going with a Warmoth is for the “endless” options, you can’t get from the big brands (and hopefully at a more affordable price). Short of that, the only part that still doesn’t make much sense to me is. The 4A flame maple selections. Or, on a neck a 4A baked maple option. From what I’ve seen those are still off menu. Short of that, I could definitely see where this could become a 3-headed monster in some cases.

    I completely agree with the examples you gave especially with different/higher end woods, and having painted headstocks. However, I’m still confused on why the single inlay at the 12th fret isn’t an “on menu” option. I’m assuming the inlays are cut with a cnc machine. The only thing that would be changed is the coding for how many inlays you want cut out, and I’m assuming that Warmoth already has the coding for that since they offer the inlay at the 12th fret as an “off menu” item.

    Great video as always Aaron. Thanks for going over this. I'm one of the people who asked about what was the universe of off menu stuff just to get an idea. Whenever I'm thinking of ordering a new neck with a mahogany shaft I always ask if they can get roasted mahogany for the neck shaft . So far the answer has been no, but maybe one day I'll be lucky.
    I have noticed that some woods have disappeared from custom body builds. Can I ask, Koa tops seem to have disappeared from Stratocaster builds. Are they unavailable in the quality that you need or have they just become too expensive to offer? Thanks

    My biggest question is why there are different wood options for different necks?

      I once tried to order a modern tiltback neck with a goncalco alves (I think? this was 30 years ago) shaft wood, and I was told they couldn't do it because the wood was too oily to glue the scarf joint. But a Strat neck doesn't have a scarf joint, so then it isn't a problem.

    Hey Aaron. Appreciate your task of being Warmoth public face! I'm located in Italy and have been in US for many years, First as a student at GIT in the late '80s and then as algorithm designer at Eventide in the 2000s. I am a guitarist by trade and got familiar with your amzing products in 1989, when there was no internet and Warmoth had a paper catalog in white and light blue. Love those days. I have 6 Warmoth guitars... which are 3 Strats, 2 Teles, 1 Jazzmaster and I'm about to order my seventh one, a very personalized Tele. You mention words like "customer experience", "sustainability", and others. Well, I tell you what... the "off menu" concept is a VERY BAD choice against any customer's experience as people feel like they don't have the full information available and need to know who knows which secret way to get something not disclosed BUT possible. Yes I understand that something can't be always available, like woods. Sure... but not everything off menu is in such category. You should think of a way to disclose what's available at a specific moment, create the template for that on the custom builder and make it go public when those specific things are available and hide them when they're not. Any decent web designer, even a kid, can do that very easily. Maybe add a dedicated page for the off menu stuff to disclose it . The offerings should be in clear and not hidden. Feels very bad like it is now. Here's a simple example.... and I believe this is one of the easiest things to implement. When building a body and choosing the wood for it... WHY the customer can't choose an "EXTRA LIGHT" slab? He can choose "ONE PIECE" (for swamp ash only) but no extra light. I had to wander thru the Showcase and understand you have EXTRA LIGHT under the BODY UPGRADES list... and I had to think about what you mean by that and the price. I came to the conclusion that by that you mean a body below 4 pounds and the extra cost is 40$... now why can't that be put in the custom builders with definition of "light" and price? You can also state "subject to availability - contact us for confirmation". A customer can create a personalized body and save it. That is a numbered document you can quickly review and confirm the availability of the extra choices or not... so the customer goes ahead and buys it. Why should I need to call and pay for intercontinental fees or email and wait for a couple of days? How hard is to simply store a project, submit it automatically to your folks and get a yes or no back in a reasonable quick time? Yes, I am aware of the dozens, hundreds and even thousands different details you may be able to offer or not and it can get very complicated very quickly... but hey, honestly it feels like Warmoth is kind of lazy in doing things that would much improve the customer experience, hiding behind thin paper.
    Another one? You won't ship mahogany to many EU countries. That's ridiculous. Everyday dozens of guitar companies, from small to big... ship mahogany guitars to EU countries. Gibson, PRS, Sire, Guild, Heritage, Ibanez, Yamaha, Taylor, Harley Benton and the list goes on forever! Even your competitor Musikraft ships mahogany and you guys used to too. Why this ain't happening anymore? 'Cuz you don't want to do little paperwork to ship mahogany? Once you have the document set for a country, you'll use it forever. It's not that hard at all. And think of mahogany furniture! That's TONs of it moving every day. Gotta keep up with this global thing going on... it's just a matter of will. I would have ordered at least 3 more guitars with mahogany and paduk IF you had let me... so you are losing money on this. Why should I call an US friend or relative and ask him/her to receive my Warmoth part and put it in the luggage when he/she will do the next flight to my country? Should we really do this "Prohibition Days" thing for a slab of ol' stinking wood? Talk to the boss and let him know these things are not good for Warmoth. Maybe it's time to make a bit of an effort and get off the everyday comfy habits of doing things... getting back to a more dynamic way. It surely won't hurt! Always remember this... the many people in US and world countries who love Warmoth, and they are many many many, would love you guys even more and appreciate your efforts in improving your biz with MORE biz with you. It's a two ways beneficial flow of actions/consequences. So please, make the right choices.
    Cheers from the mediterranean sea.... and always in a friendly way to the amazing Warmoth world!

    • @KainzMusic
      @KainzMusic 4 месяца назад

      You're literally scolding Warmoth for not bowing to your miniscule demands, that's hardly "friendly". Sounds like you just want to cry about something. I don't find anything at the Warmoth site on the International Shipping page that says anything is restricted, let alone mahogany. Wahhh.

    • @italoop7850
      @italoop7850 4 месяца назад

      @@KainzMusic Once your shipping data have been entered and you proceed to checkout and pay, the system shows a warning with this text: "Attention international customers: please ensure that your order does not contain organic materials which we are currently prohibited from shipping outside of the USA. These include Abalone, Mother of Pearl, Bone, Mahogany and Padouk. If your order does not contain these materials you may proceed with checkout. Shipments of these products within the USA are not affected." So, there it is. Warmoth has shipped mahogany everywhere for ages and it's only in the recent years that has stopped doing so. Every other company ships it. So it is possible. This is not bowing from a company. It's making customers happy and sell more guitar parts. A I said I'd have bought several other guitars if mahogany shipping was possible. And I'm STIL buying other woods parts. So, please stay away from this as you have no point here.
