I need to get up on my arch to remove a couple old antennas as well. For now I'm keeping the last generation Furuno radar, but I have the same TV antenna, and another little guy up there that needs to come down...just gotta figure out how to get up there! LOL...the canvas does not come down easily...
I had to precariously perch myself on the helm seat, balancing one foot in the dash 😬 Oh man, you should have seen me struggling to get the top zipped back up when I was done! Don't care about it, as we're replacing it all, but want to keep the rain out for when it's launched. Hope you can do a video of yourself up on yours! Would look forward to seeing that 👍
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo You know I will! It's on my list for next weekend...not sure if I'll get to it, but hoping to! Yeah, you definitely want that old canvas in place until the new one is installed!
Paul I have enjoyed watching your videos for years. I have owned the same 1995 370 DA since 2004 and have rebuilt about 75% of it. My three kids grew up on the boat. Recently I have been casually shopping for a larger Sea Ray but your enthusiasm for your new beautiful 370 DA has helped me realize how much I still love my boat. Can’t wait to see what you get into on projects. I have had the motors and the generator out of mine, have replaced the AC units and all the interior and exterior soft goods. Thinking about doing the interior carpet soon. I will wait to see how it goes for you.
Why does everyone always say they'll see how I make out with my projects before attempting it themselves? I'm starting to feel like a bit of a guinea pig here LOL ;-)
You seem to know a lot more about it than I do. Doesn’t help that I am not the most tech savvy guy in the world so I rely on guys like you that have a lot more knowledge in that world. If you ever want to know anything about trucking then I am the guy to ask. LOL
I will be curious to see what you install for electronics. I have a 1991 Sea Ray 440 and it’s equipped with all it’s original equipment. I want to update it but am totally confused with what to buy. I want some updated navigation as I would like to cruise the Trent this summer and I will be driving the boat to New Brunswick in the fall as I am retiring soon and will be moving to NB. Every video I watch talks more about fishing which I don’t do with my boat.
Yes, in my research for my new Garmin plotter, I also found the videos are mostly focusing on fishing. The sonar capabilities are important to me at all, as I didn't even get a transducer when I purchased mine. Will have a standalone Garmin finder so I don't clutter up the plotter screen. The finder will be used as a depth finder, so I can see depths + bottom contours. Will be fit hing ALL of the Ray equipment currently on the boat. I'll be posting a video soon to talk more about what the new setup is going to look like. . .
Good luck routing the Garmin network cable into the arch. There was no way I could get the cable with connector into my arch. Fortunately, Garmin makes a replacement kit so I cut the connector off, routed the cable, and reattached a new connector. I did have to buy a specialty tool to crimp the new connector. That was the only way to get the cable into the arch...sans the connector.
Thanks for the head's up. I had watched a Garmin radar installation video where the owner had to shorten his cables to fit on a smaller boat (ruclips.net/video/nUFd3KEzm2g/видео.html). In my case, I'm hoping that I'll be able to draw the new cables through the arch by using the old Ray ones as a fish tape. Given that I'm eliminating some of the other components (TV coax, Loran cable), plus the fact that this arch is larger than our 330 Dancer, there just might be enough space to route things without making any cuts. Although I'm not against cutting and splicing, I always prefer preserving the factory ends. Got lots of space to loom up any excess cable. . .
It’s a nice boat you have there. Miss Rabbitts and i was looking for a maxum 3700 scr or a 4100 scr but after we have seen your 370 DA we are now looking for one 😉 correctly we are in at maxum 2700 scr (1992)witch i made a radar arch too by myself. Bit of a diy project. But it looks awesome. Ps i faulty click on thumb down, SORRY 😞 Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰
As you probably know, we moved up from the 330 Sundancer and I am very impressed by how much bigger this 370 Sundancer is. The cabin, head and cockpit are so much more comfortable, especially with all the extra headroom I now have for my square head 🤓
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo Very close. So ironic too. We are selling our '98 SR 330 Dancer (exactly like your last one) and just bought a boat from Cross View Marina and now have to get it back to Kenosha, WI. You are such a great resource and the timing of your videos are perfect. We are getting ready to coordinate ground transport (makes me nervous) and it's like your video are custom to our boating lifestyle as well. REALLY appreciate that. I watched a bunch of your detailing videos yesterday. Thanks again, and have a great boating season!!!
Obviously the mounting holes for the new Garmin Radar are different than the one removed. What do you use to plug those old holes. I may be faced with this project also
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo I am missing something here. I watched the video where you installed the Garmin but did not see the plugging of the holes. No big deal as usual I am probably getting ahead of myself.
Are you not rushing things Paul? What happens if the sea trial comes out poorly. Obviously you are paid in full or they wouldn't be letting you take the boat apart but if an engine blows etc you could be stuck with something you weren't counting on.
When I bought my Silverton 41C I had that same radar antenna on it. They mounted it on the front of the bridge and it looked awful. I upgraded all the electronics with Garmin and now have the enclosed radar antenna and it looks so much better.
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo I love the newer Garmin radar, chart plotters etc., but watching those big openarays going around makes you feel like a real ship capt.. lol
I’ll watch closely when you do the wiring on the new Garmin. I mentioned in my last video that our boat came with newer electronics that were never wired. I think I might be able to do the pull through method with the old wires as well. Hope that works flawlessly as you like to say.
Wondering how much you use radar. Could you elaborate? Do you do a lot of night ventures? I’d love to have radar to play with but just can’t justify the cost.
The Raymarine on the last boat worked, but it was slow to warm up and didn't have a very appealing view or interface, so didn't really use it much. But after watching some videos on the Garmin system, I think I'll be using that radar more on the new boat. It just looks so much more responsive and intuitive.
I remember in an earlier video where Paul told us the boat is paid for with a portion of the price being held in escrow until the sea trial. Given his knowledge of Searay boats and his own due diligence I think he's safe to remove the radar aparatus. He could always put it back on in the unlikely event the sale gets quashed.
we bought our boat in feb last year and completed sale before sea trial. people usually leave 10-20k in escrow account held by broker if any further repairs ar needed but sale is final already
That 11 meter is pretty nice
Missed it, but I'm sure you're right. Forgive me, but I only see the Sea Rays 😉
Great video once again
Appreciate that!

Upgrade electronics to Garmin and install day/night vision camera on the radar
Mad, if I had all the money to do everything I'm told that I should do, I'd never have to work again ;-)

And even better when there's brand new equipment coming 😁
Paul, was this boat stored at Cross View Marina in Sandusky, OH by chance?
Close. Son Rise Marina.

We had to drop the entire arch on our 340 DA transporting it from San Diego to San Francisco, can it be another foolish, unnecessary CA law?!
Sounds like a lot of seemingly unnecessary work for a boat of your size...
I'm confused. Has the sale been completed? I thought the sale was contingent on a sea trial. Are you allowed to make these physical changes?

Boat is 100% bought and paid for. It's ours to do with as we wish. Sea trail is only to confirm mechanicals that can't be tested on land.
Put it back?? I guess you missed this post on my Instagram Page; instagram.com/p/CbIb4zxrXY-/?

Yes, funds in escrow account for potentials upon sea trial but it is fully ours right now.
Wow, looks like you are all the way in the back of the garage. How many boats have to be moved to get you out?
Stay tuned for my next video. Not a problem at all👌
Holy smokes. Don’t burn all your vacation time there : get her home !!!
