Nice idea and great execution. I have the same boat engine. It's love at first ride. Friends say that you can recognize me on the water by the sound of the engine)) it is not the same.
Another good addition i could use for my Grumman Sportboat! Perhaps you can run the cable through the top of the handle and avoid the tyrap if there is not too much tension. I did buy an extension handle for my 6hp Fisherman (same vintage) but traded the motor for a mint original 1940 Evinrude Sportsman that will likely not ever see taste any water. The guy who had the 2hp Sportsman was going to use as an every day motor and wanted me to tune it up and use on a 12 foot boat. Was an opportunity I couldnt pass on so proposed the trade to keep it from being destroyed and so he would have a reliable motor. Next summer will be in the lookout for another 6hp. The 4hp Weedless Evinrude I have turns my Grumman into a plow.
You are not going to believe it !!!!!!! In the package I’m resending you has a complete SHOTGUN shifter ( that’s what we call them up here ) ( one of many I have ) and then you come out with this video , freaking awesome !! LMAO to tears ! Like before I can’t send to a P.O. Box ! Enjoy bud
I have asked but is there any chance you can show the throttle linkage and how it attaches to the 9.9/15hp you have great videos on the tiller removal remote steer but don’t show how it’s linked to the throttle installing cable control Thank you for everything until now
@@BrandonsGarage that would be great I’ve removed and rebuilt carb & fuel pump as per your videos way back. Steering isn’t a problem just the throttle linkage for a cable, entry is great just how it’s linked 👍🏻
Unrelated to this videos content, but I a question regarding my 1980 evinrude 15hp...if one was to remove the Philips screw near the gear oil fill, and immediately screw it back in, would anything drop off inside the gear case, causing a rebuild?
Well, which one? There is one on the power head, somewhat at the base of the starter solenoid. There is sometime another from the lower pan to the steering arm.

Some guys mount an 6” aluminum tube on the underside of the handle and run the cable through there , really cleans it up nicely !
O shit, i need one of those kits!
That will help tremendously with the shifting because i have some back issues.

Oh dibs. I'm gonna fit them to all my oldies.
The people that do not like old outboardsare the same people willing to finance an outboard for 5 years.
Ain't that the truth.
Brando don’t know why I feel the need to tell you but as a British man looking for parts here is hard work but finally found a second hand kit 👍🏻👌🏻
Well good to hear!
I know it's more expensive with shipping, but can't you just order parts off ebay and get them shipped?

Yeah... I'll have to hunt down the throttle parts. Or just order new ones.

Nope. If it went back in you're fine.
@@BrandonsGarage thank you sir... cool page by the way... I'm a tinkerer too... I tinker with fish
I have one on my 12' jon boat.
How do you like it?
Where do the external ground bonding straps go on a 1988 90hp i am at a loss and this comment section is my cry for help

@@BrandonsGarage Where does the one go from the swivel bracket and the one from the steering arm. I think theres one from the trim sensor too?
Welp, my old '96 V4 112SP Evinrude won't run but at least my Johnson still works.
