Pro-Tip. Adding 25% greenish - green grapes, you do not need the pectin. Alternative, peal 4 granny smith apples and add the peals to the boil. No need for chemically processed pectin.
Can't remember where I read it but you can also use grape leaves for the pectin. Might want to google that just to make sure and see how much. Jesus bless
I'm so glad I came across this video. I use to make jelly and wine with my grandfather ( he passed away😢) I been sitting here for the past few days trying to remember how to make the jelly I remember parts but not everything. Thank you for this
I recently cleaned out my freezer and had a bunch of blueberries and raspberries that I cooked down an extracted the juice. can I use this same process to make jelly with that or is there an issue with that type of berry? there were no recipes on the pectin I had.?
If you can it properly and get a seal, it should last a few months easy. Store it in a cool dry place and it should be fine. Look for another video on how to can it and get the seal properly
It at least lasted a month, we’ve got a Lotta folks in our house so the stuff disappeared pretty quick. It probably wouldn’t last as long as the stuff you get from the store because there’s no preservatives in there. I hope this answers some of your questions
If you didn’t process then aka boil them for like 5-10 minutes after canning only up to 6 months. If you do boil them they’ll be good for up to a year from everything I e read on grape and strawberry jelly. I made my own strawberry jams and I’m on my last jar and it’s almost 3 months old and still has the same great consistency and taste and the first jar
my mom used to add a small amount of parafine to each jar, and they lasted several years and tasted freshly made. I found a few jars she made after she passed away they was 5 yrs old from date of them made, I opened one up and was so yummy. as long as the seal is not broke they will lasts several years
@@livefree6878 after she put the juice into the jars she added the parafine to the top of jelly, put lid on it and waited for each one to pop That tells you it was sealed then tightened lid down and stored.

She really need to state that they are different types of sure gel and if you follow her recipe you need to use the same box(pink) cause I use the yellow which calls foe way more sugar. You always don't do the sure gel the way she did for the yellow box.
I made this yesterday I followed your directions precisely they have been in the refrigerator for about seven and a half hours and have not jelled any ideas why? Is it because I messed it up or do they just need to be refrigerated longer Very disappointing
Same, we followed the directions from the video and the jelly didn't set either. On our second batch we used the directions on the box and it set perfectly over night. The directions from the video is for low sugar Sure Jell (pink box) if you use the original Sure Jell (yellow box) you will need to use more sugar. This is an important distinction that isn't made in the video.
If they are allergic to dairy that's all they can use, plant/veggie based. Granddaughter cab only use that. I have to use "butter" in her gluten free recipes and yeah. She's allergic to dairy AND has Celiac.
Say what???? My sure Jell says 5 cups of juice and 7 cups of sugar. I am finding that Sure Jell has different sugar amounts each year or who knows. Sounds like way too much sugar. Any thoughts anybody????
I tried last year and used 1/2 the amount asked for on the first batch... Didn't set and got thick syrup. Used the full amount on second match and got perfect jelly! Go figure

My grandma and mom did the same. Hot wax gently over the back of a spoon. Seals the jam in the jar 🫙. Flat & ring all done. Buuut who else’s mommas saved the wax ? Cut it to get it out wash with soap and water and in the bowl to add to next year’s jam 😂. My grandma had 11 kids my mom had 5. We didn’t waste Anything!
Wow!!!!! Spent an entire morning using this video as reference for making jelly. No where was it mentioned about pink box versus yellow box. Jelly did not set!!!!! What a disappointment. 😡

Wow! That’s interesting can’t wait to try that. Thanks for the tip. 👍
@@livefree6878 Ps, I'm using Catawba. Not sure if that makes a diff.
Sugar is also chemically processed. You can't avoid it; it's everywhere.
@@l33twarez74 You can make it without sugar if you use the apple peel for pectin. Or you can use raw organic cane sugar so not as processed.

That jelly deserves REAL Butter!
Insane, innit? :)

My very first time Canning ever, I love this video, thank you for my wonderful tasting grape jelly
Great video, you make it look simple and that jelly came out perfect
My grapes are ripe! Just the video I was looking for, thank you
I have 5 dogs. Can you cover them with cling wrap while they cool? I don’t want dog hair in my jelly.
Put the lids on immediately a you won't get anything in the jelly. :)

Invert the jars and they will seal w/o waterbath. So wish I knew how much juice you used, and thanks for taking your time to make the video!
Beautiful jelly! God bless
Awesome!❤👍🏾
Very informative.👌🏿Do you sell your grapes? Hard to find grapes with seeds.
Is the grape juice necessary for the jam or can I just use that as juice (two products made , jam & juice)
You can just juice the grapes and refrigerate to make fresh organic grape juice if that is what you are asking
Yummy!
👍
Question 🙋🏻♀️. Can you make this jam with store bought grapes 🍇? I was gifted a case and will never be able to eat that many before they go bad.
Yes you can
What if you don’t have a folly mill?
Smooth it through a grate/strainer in small batches and clear the solids?
Mash through a colander or wring through a cotton rag.
Is there any sugar added ?
Lovely!
I found this video very helpful . Can this grape jelly be frozen??

How long does the jelly last in the refrigerator?

I am harvesting grapes and eating the jam i made last August. Prepared and sterilized. Stored in the basement.

How many years does this hold?
awesome
Hi what’s the ratio when using Agave syrup
We clean the jar rim while the jelly is still hot and screw on the lid. No need for a water bath.

Exactly the answer I was looking for..thanks!
I followed you and my jam is runny. What did I do? Can I add something and reprocess?
Reboil and try again

Yes, that's crazy! There are other brands of pectin, and you can also use knox unflavored gelatin and not use any sugar at all, or at least way less.

@@malcolmfrench Thanks Buddy
There are low sugar varieties. She used the low sugar for hers. You have the regular variety of sure gel or certos, which requires more sugar to set.
Thank you! This looks TERRIFIC!
I don't have a mill how can I do this with out
This recipe does NOT work. Tried it 4 times
It's literally the recipe on the pectin package...
Is your Sure Jell pink box or yellow box? Huge difference.
i fuck with this. good stuff

Wo
All that work and then you use margarine and store bought bread.....smh

My grandma put wax on top, but I don't know what her method was?
Watch Gemini Homestead, 7-30-21. She tells how to use wax!!
Oh wow! I forgot about the wax! My grandmother did too! Its been a long time. We also made freezer jam. That was my favorite.
The wax is for saving the jelly long I’m pretty sure my mother used to Pot
