Let me remind everyone that is is not the first Starliner failure. In fact, all 3 flights have failed in one capacity or another!

There have been serious issues, failures if you wish, with each of all 3 launches. But, it is true, is it not, that astronauts would have survived launch AND return on the first 2? And this trip they believe the return would be successful, just more risky than the alternative (SpaceX).

I can’t believe more people aren’t pissed off that we are ok with leaving 2 astronauts trapped in space for 8 months. 8days becomes 8 months, we can waste money researching the mating habits of mayfly’s, but can’t get these people home.

I'm upset with the results of the starliner mission as well. I think they should have cancelled it, or had better inspections after the first couple of helium leaks

110% it should not have ever been sent in the first place . makes me think that Boeing my have someone inside NASA to allow this to happen in the first place

Why is no one talking about the Boeing space suits that didn’t work and suddenly healed themselves and the engineers at Boeing don’t know what happened.

What I can't get my head around is the thruster problems, as a species we have been sending crewed space vehicles into orbit for over 60 years now they all had thrusters so why can't Boeing get it right now?! I'm not an engineer but surely this is spaceflight 101... 🤔

I just watched a video featuring aircraft of World War 2. One particular scientist that stood out to me was Eugen Sänger a rocket scientist who was never recruited by US or Russia.
I mention this because several months ago I had posted an idea of using a land based propulsion system utilizing a rail type system that would achieve the initial thrust and speed to achieve orbit. There for saving the fuel that would normally used reach orbit.
This same idea was studied by Eugen Sänger many years ago. And yet I was summarily riticuled and told this would never work. I still believe that this idea should be studied more. The advantages of a system like this would greatly speed the advancement our space program.
Eugen Sänger, the visionary behind the Silbervogel, (SilverBird). The aircraft was to have begun its mission propelled along a 3 km (2 mi) long rail track by a large rocket-powered sled to about 1,930 km/h (1,200 mph). Once airborne, it was to fire its own rocket engine and continue to climb into orbit. There by saving large amounts of fuel needed to reach orbit.

1200 mph doesn’t sound fast enough. Second stage of falcon, nine detached at a speed more than double that I think, and is beyond atmospheric drag

It should be clear to everyone by now that Boeing has an internal rot within its management system that cannot be covered up any longer the excellent efforts of the employees that actually do the hard labor.

    Abject Failure!

  • @karlp8484

The Boeing Starliner has had four seperate failures, the B737-MAX two crashes and a door plug blowout, the B787 had a fire which burned out one plane and the B777-X test planes have had two structural failures. Too many occurrences to be all coincidences, Boeing is out of control.

The Starliner will undock, fly perfectly, and land perfectly. Boeing recommended flying Butch and Suni home. NASA just prefers more mud slinging. 190 hours of He onboard. MUCH less heat and far fewer thruster activations are required for the return mission than were required for ascent and docking.

So far, Scamliner has not perfectly executed ANY of its flights. Quite the contrary. Your claim has no basis in fact.
What will REALLY happen with that flawed capsule remains to be seen.

It flew and docked perfectly. The computer perfectly compensated for TURNING OFF one thruster. It docked perfectly. 2 hot fires while docked worked perfectly. If there were any REAL problems, it COULDNT have docked perfectly under computer control. It will undock and return perfectly. Butch and Suni will miss out on a perfect return trip on Starliner! 190 hours of Helium on the service module! Only need 10!

Butch and Suni are ASTRONAUTS. That means they belong to NASA, NOT Boeing. Boeing owns the vehicle ONLY. On the Boeing-NASA back channels, they both were perfectly confident in flying Starliner for their return. Their decision was overruled by NASA.

WTF ? .... Starliner was a Test Vehicle on a Test Flight ... and Butch and Suni were Test Pilots .... Plus , Suni and Butch are seasoned ISS veterans who will fit right in ... they are Not freaking Prisoners in danger , needing Rescue LOL ! ... What pure Bot Bullshiit ! :-[
