    The Best Band Ever...

  • @almahperditae
    @almahperditae 3 года назад +5

Anathema is probably the best band of all time. You just can't find another band that make so great music, for so long, and so varied as them. Maybe Pink Floyd, but even Pink Floyd aren't as good as Anathema. There are two kinds of persons in the world, the ones that never eard of them, and the ones who know they are the best band in the world.
You have 20 or 30 songs by them better than this one, and this is a amazing song. But i believe they have two songs that are just two masterpieces: One Last Goodbye, and Lost Control. Each One of them is probably the best songs ever for their particular mood.
    "I hope you don't understand"

Basil having chosen this shows that he knows your taste in music as this band started in 1993 as a death/doom metal band, but transformed into a progressive/alternative/atmospheric rock group at the turn of the millennium. As a big fan of almost anything progressive/alternative rock/metal, I'm at 8.75 with the progression/evolution of this live performance.

Americans rarely know about Anathema, the likes of it and it's understandable because of the quality of songs that gets played in their station but they are missing on a great band like Anathema. Very few bands start as a Death/Doom metal band and progresses into a completely different sound not compromising on the musical standards and the quality of the lyrics.

Vincent is the lead singer. He has been the lead singer since Darren left the band in 1995. Danny has done some lead vocals on songs as "Are you there?" or "Sunlight", but in this one Vincent is the lead singer.

More songs from them which I would recommend are: The Beloved, Eternity (part 1) and Hope. All from the album Eternity, very diferent to this one.

Lead vocalist is Vincent all the time (except in the early days, when a different guy, Darren, was lead, but he left the band and Vinny took over as lead vocalist + rhythm guitar). Lee (the woman) sings some of the songs as lead. And Danny (lead guitarist) sings a handful of their songs (not in this concert), he does backing vocals. Jamie, the bassist, and Vincent are twins and Danny, the guitarist, is their older brother.

Np. Speaking of brothers in bands, did you try Greta Van Fleet? They're from Michigan. And they have something in common with Anathema - it is also made up of three brothers (and a friend). Two are identical twins, like the twins in Anathema, and their younger brother. One of the twins is the lead singer (Josh), his twin is the guitarist (Jake) and their brother is the bassist (Sam). And their friend is named Danny (drummer). Very different style of rock though, nothing like Anathema.
Anathema gives me Floyd vibes. With Greta van fleet, it is about the Zeppelin influences in the beginning. Both great bands.

Here are some older ones (where you can hear the Zeppelin influences): Safari song, Highway tune, Black smoke rising, When the curtain falls.
Here are some new ones, off the latest album: Heat above, Age of machine, Light my love, Broken bells, Caravel. All of them are great. Good, ol' fashioned rock n' roll.
The songs that have videoclips are: Highway tune, Heat above, Age of machine.
If you wanna try: Light my love or Broken bells, look for the Candlelight sessions version.
If you wanna listen to 'You're the one', look for the SNL performance.
All their live stuff is great.

Daniel Cavaghan on guitar, Vinny Cavaghan on lead, Lee Douglas on lead, Jamie Cavaghan on bass, John Douglas on drums and Daniel Cardoso on keyboards. Danny is the older brother to the twins Vinny and Jamie. Lee and John are brother and sister. They all grew up on the same street. Daniel Cardoso is from Portugal.

@@AmberandCharisseReact Thank you for replaying. In this day and age that is rare.
The Cavaghan brothers have had it really tough and they are all self-taught as are the Douglases. They all grew up in a very working-class background in Liverpool and had a vision. For them all to achieve this with all that life thrown at them is remarkable. I can only speak from experience as I knew them when they were teenagers as with the original members Darren White and Duncan Patterson. I am glad to say at the ripe old age of 58, I am still in touch with them all, except Danny Cav. I have never been a friend of Danny Cardoso, as I have moved a lot with my own career, but I have always kept in touch with Vinny, Jammie, Duncan, Darren, Lee and John. I was there when Anathema, My Dying Bride and Cradle Of Filth started the whole "Doom Metal" I feel very privileged to watch them grow as a band. :-) xxxxxxxxxx

Daniel is the lead vocalist you heard and saw, vincent is the one who did the backing vocals and Lee is the lady. Vincent also does lead vocals but not on this song. Unfortunately, Anathema is one of the victims as a band of covid19 as the band in 2020 made a statement that due to covid they went on a hiatus and had to persue other paths in life. Their on a permanent hiatus I'm afraid. Great band.

God, do you realize you’re listening to the most amazing band of all time? Guy on the right is clueless. He looks like someone pee’d in his cheerios the whole video. The girl on the left seems to appreciate it. This makes me sad you didn’t find them from the beginning like I did.
