    Tip 13 and 38 didn’t make the edit here they are:
    13 - Purchase Travel Insurance
    38 - The hold on your debit/credit card will increase as you charge more to your shipboard account.

    • @stykman22
      @stykman22 5 лет назад +1

      On that note, do you typically purchase insurance through the cruise line or through a private company?

    The one tip I give quite often for women is to pack EVERYTHING you want to take with you and then go back the next day and try to eliminate half. My first cruise was 5 days and I literally packed for twice that amount of time. I brought so much stuff that I never touched. We always do caribbean cruises and it tends to be hot. Swimsuits, shorts and light tops.. flowy cool dresses... are about all you need, interchangeable outfits for dining and if you are spending hours worrying about hair and makeup, you are missing your cruise experience.

    TIP # 51 : BRING EXTRA PRESCRIPTON MEDS. We did a 6 day cruise that turned into 13 days.

      Tip #52, the security may discard your Rx medications that you buy in Mexico. I am talking about PRESCRIPTION DRUGS but narcotics, CBD or illegal drugs.

    A Lot of good points, a couple I hadn't thought of before. One tip you could add is 'Don't use the main elevators on embarkation day, find another set on the ship.'' I didn't know this before my first cruise, as I have mobility issues, I got quite stressed out waiting to use the elevators on embarkation day. Thinking that if it was going to be like tis all the time, I won't cope, I was starting to dread my decision to go on a cruise. I felt a lot better once I realised it was only a temporary problem. I love cruising and go as often as I can.

    I'd add a travel checklist to be sure you gave everything and don't duplicate. Mine has a box to check when I pack at home, and a second box to check when I pack to leave the ship. That way I don't leave chargers or other items behind.

    Tip from Michelle - do NOT assume there is a washer or dryer on a cruise. Royal Caribbean and possibly their sister ships have no guest laundry facilities, unless you count your bathroom sink. If your ship does have laundry facilities, be aware there are (reportedly) relatively frequent negative interactions with other passengers over the use of the facilities.

    • @jayrow5029
      @jayrow5029 5 лет назад +1

      Wow. I love 14 day, but find them a bit different experience than 7 or 10 day cruises. Pace yourself: A). If your itinerary is port intensive- don’t exhaust yourself. No need to see everything the first time. And my FAV time on the ship is a few hours when so many others are off it! ;-). B) I love fine dining and the DR experience- but about day 11, I realize I’d just like a quiet, simple meal, in my stateroom. Who thought I might need a break from such delicious, rich food? Having that happen to me repeatedly, now I just plan accordingly.
      Enjoy your trip! My next 14 day isn’t until early DEC - I’m a little bit envious.

    • @nancyharte8140
      @nancyharte8140 5 лет назад

      14 days-lucky you! Me and my family on the cruise are all obese. Try to lose a few pounds and do some walking if you’re able before the cruise-like 10 pounds. I called it my cruise cushion! It will make you better able to do activities. I found most things doable on the ship, just the need to squeeze between chairs and tables: not much different than on land. Lots of walking long distances on board and when getting on and off. Everyone was very nice and I found I was never embarrassed or shamed (except for by me!). Have a terrific time. 👍

      If you’re cruising through Carnival, you can deny your children the access to the credit card that is linked. If you give your child allowance, you can let them put their allowance on their sale and sign cards for fun drinks, candy, or build a bear, etc. Kids club is great because they can meet children their age! Also, Carnival plays recent movies out on the deck (or in the theater room if the ship doesn’t have a TV outside). Your 7 year old would love the Dr. Seuss breakfast! It’s $5 per person.

    If I see anyone touching the buffet food with their hands, they might walk off the ship with the nickname of "lefty".

    Hi Tony..i have a question about gratuities. i hear it's possible to pay cash direct to individuals assigned to you on board instead of having gratuities billed to your Sail and sign acct..is that possible? Please advise..Thanks

      It is. You have to work with customer service to remove the assigned gratuities. - Tony

    One you forgot that almost ruined my honeymoon (and first cruise) is DO NOT fly into the port city on sail away day. We originally had a flight that got us there several hours ahead of time, but that flight was canceled. We ended up arriving just in time to catch the last airport shuttle to the terminal. Fly in the day before.

    Tip number 7, no no no no no Do not charge devices overnight. 1) it's a fire hazard and 2) you will reduce the life of your devices if you repeatedly over charge them.

    • @OT3S
      @OT3S 5 лет назад

      Only if you charge your battery past 90% Which most people do anyway. Keeping it plugged in at 100% does absolutely no damage whatsoever to the battery.

    • @frankcarlone5130
      @frankcarlone5130 5 лет назад

      @@OT3S It absolutely does reduce it's life. Either way, still a fire hazard.
