When I went on Hex for the first time in 2006, I can remember that there was a water effect in the Octagon scene and there was staff wearing builder uniform in the Vault. Very atmospheric.
Yes, I remember that too. Also, sometimes, as you went up the stairs to leave the Octagon and then turned left to go towards the vault, staff sometimes used to hide and jump out at you!
I had no idea this was an actual ride until we were seated and the guides exited the vault. I can honestly say that i thought there was something wrong with the ride and that we were going to get tipped out of our seats! A very well thought out ride that to this day I still refuse to ride again
I work on the Haunting at Drayton Manor and its very much like this...even the control panel is the same!! lol but we have nicer screens for the cameras :)
wow! alton towers need to host another event like this and bring back the ultimate sleepover they had in 2014! theyd earn a killing. id deffo pay for those. loved this video. Also themepark worldwides own lee wood! wow!
@knwurselfjizz nice...im planning on trying to get a job at a themepark need to move closer to one tbh im in leeds atm and closest is flamingo land or light water valley :(.....might be coming down to drayton tommorow or alton towers we havnt decided which yet haha
No u do go fully upside down. They have strong fans blowing from the top to stop people’s hair from hanging down and to keep people’s glasses on. Then there’s a special glue on the seats that stops you from falling out of the seat and dying.
If you look at the middle of the photo of the derelict octagon at 9.27 above the main steps, does anyone else see the image of a female in the grass? Could it be the witch that cast the Hex curse?
Still a masterpiece of engineering, shame it's ALWAYS FKN CLOSED NOWADAYS!!!!! Always listed as open on the site, but always closed when you get there, absolutely infuriating as my favourite ride at Alton Towers. UK theme parks are abandoning too many quality "immersive experience" type rides in favour of braindead thrillseeking adrenaline junkies.

Glad you like them : )
Cool How Did You Get In There!?

That was you being silly.
this is so interesting but i think the tour guide needs to do a bit more research on the rides before hand
sorry to any drayton fans. i live 5 mins from thorpe and i would happily get up early just to go to alton towers
instaBlaster...
There's a lot more details to appreciate with the lights on really
Yeah, definitely. It's interesting to look at some of the original surviving architecture/brickwork also :)
@@AltonTowersMemories most definitely!
i LOVE THIS PLACE JUST AS MUCH AS I LOVE PIE AND RAINBOWS

fascinating, id love to see some more of these, what was he saying about the "suspicious package"?
Did you ever get round to uploading any more? It would be greatly appreciated.
is that a tour guide ?
My confusion of this ride has ended.
Laura Worsley mine hasn't
Lee Mesure Ok what are you confused about and I’ll try and explain.
Is there a BTS of Toyland Tours?
I've operated the one at Six Flags Great Adventure. Lots of fun to operate, and you're completely out of guests' view.
In 1980 I was at St Johns at Alton and we we were the lucky first to ride the Corkscrew. £2.50 to get in then.
mag num £33 now ahah
£64 on the door. £32 online
Hex will be back.

Another fantastic video! Do you have any more from other rides at the park?
@knwurselfjizz i belive its same desighners vekoma? whats it like working at drayton?
I had a panic attack in the second room in here when I was 10, they had to let me out the fire exit. Jesus.
That tour guide is shocking! Do your homework man...

I used to work on hex 😊
fuckin awesome
I always wonder do you actually go upside down on hex?
No you don't. You just tilt slightly.

BEN SHAW Why are you telling lies? It’s an opticle illusion. The room spins upside down but the seats never go upside down. They just move slightly.
@@danielledewitt1 Whoosh..
@@danielledewitt1 I think it already whooshed right over your head mate.
@bensonguitar Its good mate :) cant really complain, no stress. so yeah its wkd

Simon Trundle Possibly. I know the very tree talked about exists.
