When I was in high school I first heard a local band play his "Friends in Low Places" and immediately went out and bought the cassette tape! I've been a fan ever since. I was into hair metal back then and hated everything country. Now, 30 years later, the main genre I listen to is old country from the 50's to the 90's! I still love hair metal, rap, big band, progressive rock, crooners and a lot of others too though.
The reason Garth's videos are not readily available on RUclips is that he had a dispute with RUclips. Garth believes the writers of the songs are deserving of royalties like the artists get when their songs are played on RUclips. RUclips disagreed, and refused to pay songwriter royalties, so Garth pulled his catalog from RUclips. I admire his stance on the issue and his action. He believes that the songwriters are deserving of a share of the rewards of their work, and stands by that belief.
