Wow, the holy grail of rare Police songs being played live, other than Secret Journey. Thanks, Dom, for reminding Sting that this song exists! Question is, will he keep it in the set list! Glad he’s mixing things up though!
@@EricDeggans1 The film you’re talking about is “Brimstone and Treacle,” which he filmed while he was in The Police. The Police recorded “I Burn For You” for the soundtrack. (Look it up.) Yes, he wrote the song in 1974, but The Police recorded it in 1981. Therefore, it is a Police song.
@@yobculture he didn’t write it for the police. And first version on the soundtrack isn’t by them. So it’s not really a Police song. More like the police covered a Sting song.
It's an old song that was first officially recorded by The Police for the Brimstone and Treacle movie in 1982. There is a demo however by Last Exit that has surfaced on RUclips from the 70s of this song. Yes, I think the head mic is not doing him favours, but he has lost much of his range in the last few years. I'm not sure if a regular mic is going to help him. Everything he does sounds anaemic in these dropped keys.
This is a more intime trio sort of unplugged, you cannot just compare it with the past. It Is obvious that bring on the night version of any track on that record Is the best release of that track
@xanaxddu71 I don't know music, and I compared them. I didn't like the trio version. Actually, IMHO, Sting didn't do anything that I liked since the soul cages.
Super j'adore ❤️❤️❤️
I was 16 when this was first released and I couldn't get enough. Brimstone & Treacle was an interesting movie.

This isn’t a Police song. It’s a tune he wrote for a film that he appeared in many years ago.

class!
Great song ,the best version is from the Bring on the night movie IMO….…also Sting c’mon with the headset mic…can i get fries and a coke with that…..
without taking any credit away from the drummer...but the best interpreter of this song on drums is the legendary Omar Hakim!!!

The best version of this song is on the Symphonicities album. I agree that he needs to go back to the wired mic.

Lost the magic.
Lost the magic?! 🤔
@jbeleni yes. Compared to the version on Bring on the Night, this version says nothing.
@@marcelogomes2870 Agreed 100%
