If you are NOT using a computer with Windows 10 operating system to create the USB drive, right click on the downloaded tool and then select properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and then select the operating system of the computer that you are using to create the USB drive and then click the box to select it. It worked for me. Great video. I kept getting this same error, and after multiple videos and articles happened across this one, which was randomly suggested from another video. This is the only one that actually 'fixed' the issue and let me do an in-place upgrade, which has fixed a few problems. I can't thank you enough for this
For those of you who don’t have a usb to download this on, or don’t want to go that route, I did the exact same this man shows up until the @2:39, once it downloads open it up and click on the last file which is no longer present on my pc but it was a “setup” file. Launch that, and it will go through the process of the media creation tool, but it won’t crash. Also I closed all other programs and let the pc do it’s thing.
I still can't believe that Microsoft hasn't fixed their site giving you this option to download the ISO file without having to trick the website into believing you are running non-Windows OS.

It is impossible to download the ISO. When downloading the ISO even through Microsoft servers when trying to create the Bootable USB with RUFUS you get an UEFI Bootloader revoked warning. So Microsoft's official download's are no longer signed by Microsoft as trustworthy and can brick a PC if their UEFI is already updated to the one with the Revoke list
Double check and make sure you did everything right, pause and unoause the video if you have to. I just got done doing these steps myself on a Dell laptop from 2009. So far it's working. The status in Rufus is still completing.
I also had to download a version of Rufus from 2020 for it to work. Any newer one was not compatible with this laptop I'm using. Your problem could have to do with that too

The coolest thing they've created was Windows 7, Windows 10 and 11 has a lot of bugs, resources hogs and can't really be compared to windows 7. Probably due to new generation developers with no hard basics like the old school ones is the reason for this demisse and incompetency.
IIRC, you can fix the permissions by configuring certain settings in Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc). Only problem is that gpedit is only available in Win 10 Pro. (For Win 7, you would need Pro or Ultimate, and I'm not sure about Win 8 or 8.1). AFAICR, gpedit is not available in any "Home" versions of Windows. I also seem to remember that there's a NirSoft utility that will remove zone information from downloaded files, (this removes the "Unblock" button in the file properties notebook). This only works for files that have already been downloaded. To remove zone information from all future downloads, you have to use the Group Policy Editor. I usually do that when I first install an OS, (it's "set and forget"), but there's lots of info to be found if you want to Google something like "remove zone information gpedit win 10," for example. I'd give step-by-step instructions for it, if I could remember them, but it's years since I last did it, and I've never had another blocked file since. Just Google it, and you'll find out how to do it.
I can't use this Media Creation Tool because I keep getting asked for my Administrator Password. I wish there was some other way to find out on how to remove everything from my computer without having to provide an Administrator Password. Thus, the only thing I can do at this time, is take my computer back to the Computer Store that uploaded or downloaded Windows 10 Pro on my PC a couple of years ago, to see what the issue is internally.

I have used the tool in the past with no issues and created many bootable USBs.... Microsoft is like we don't care if your PC runs perfect the tool will not work for you but will work on any other OS...
