    *NATURAL MOUNTAIN* HARVESTING! I love it collecting seeds and slowly fighting climate change planting one tree at a time :)

    I made a map of all the Japanese Maple locations in my local town and i went on a seed hunt mid November, also the local Botanical garden was kind enough to provide me with some Acer Japonicum along with larch and mugo pine seeds, i've never done this before but i am so excited for next spring. My grandchildren will be happy with the Bonsai trees that i will make lol.

    This was me early November 😂 good to see like minded individuals. I'm starting my bonsai journey from seed for financial reasons and I'm 3 or 4 years in so far. I've really enjoyed watching your videos and your garden.

      @@MomijiEn I'm in the midwest and I'm amazed at the genetic variation in seedlings. My first year sowing seedlings I got a dwarf bald cypress. My oldest seedling but no more than 5 inches tall. I definitely got bit by the bonsai bug 😂

    When do you separate your seedlings into their own pot?

    • @MomijiEn
      @MomijiEn  3 года назад

      It depends but I usually wait for a year or so.

    同じモミジでもアメリカで日本で違いがありますか?他の動画にはカリフォルニアジュニパーというのもありましたが、アメリカの樹種の特徴がとても気になります!

    • @MomijiEn
      @MomijiEn  3 года назад

      日本のもみじもたくさんありますが、アメリカやヨーロッパで作られた種類もたくさん出回っていて、葉の形や色に様々な特色がありそれがモミジの面白さでもあります。ジュニパーもアメリカ特有のものがいくつもありますが、(例:カリフォルニアジュニパー、シエラジュニパー、ロッキーマウンテンジュニパー)太い幹がうねりながら成長していく山採りが多く、葉性は大きめなので、盆栽には向いていないことが多く糸魚川真柏の葉に衣替えされることが多いですねー。

      @@MomijiEn アメリカでは日本と違って多様なモミジが出回ってるですね。
      ジュニパーに関しては、アメリカは山採りが沢山出来そうですね。しかしその山採りを糸魚川に衣替えをするとは!日本だけではなく海外でも糸魚川真柏が人気なのも納得です。
