I have worked with a awesome kiddo with Rett Syndrome for 13 years. I have worked with kids of all abilities starting as a mother's helper at age 11 and then volunteered at a camp for special needs for most of high school which led to my job as a one to one aide and in home caretaker. After years of working and going to school, I am close to getting my masters degree. With all that going on, I look forward to this vlog every day. I love the way Abbie is captured in the videos and how your family is so willing to educate and share. Thank you, for all the laughs and great advice!

As hard as the last few days has been with my autistic 6 year old girlie, there is always a silver lining and it is all about how we react to our situations. How lucky are we to raise these beautiful angels. You are all an inspiration world wide. So many people are using your experiences to help their own family. You’re all amazing. If those are the little rubber bands or the plasticky ones you can buy by the hundreds, it's easy cut them to take them out without pulling on Abbies head. You can seperate one or two of the loops away from her hair, and clip with a pair of small scissors or nail clippers. Then you can easily unwind the hair tie from around the bunch of hair instead of pulling it out. It takes seconds. And if neccessary, the cut hair ties can be removed in the bath before washing hair. My mom used to use those to do all these intricate hair styles on my sister and I, and cutting the hair ties made it easier on us. I think if she hadn't I would have fought against having my hair done as my head has always been super sensitive.

Iv been watching your videos for about a month now and i loveeeeee watching them. I have never heard of non verbal autism before now. But it has definitely open my eyes on everything. Yall are the best parents out there. Abbie is one very beautiful and special young girl. My daughter is turning 14 in June and she has been watching vidoes with me. Theres some we get emotional with just because it makes us so happy seeing how happy abbie gets sometimes :) you are a huge inspiration and we love yall so much. Parenting done right!! I am a caregiver who works in a group home with individuals with various developmental disabilities such as autism and it's literally the best. Sure there's those stressful difficulties but overall going to work is the awesome. It's an amazing job I get to go hang out with amazing individuals and do fun things all day. Your videos make me so happy!!!! I work with an individual who reminds me so much of Abbie, makes me smile!! You guys are so amazing and an inspiration. Keep up with these videos that show the amazing support you give Abbie everyday it makes such a big difference.

Thank you for the psa announcement. I worked retail and customer service for over 12 years before I gave it up to raise my son. And when people get mad at the cashier or customer service people it makes me mad. They don’t get paid enough to take that junk. And your come to Jesus moment is exactly what they need. I love it. You open so many eyes. My 3 year old is has autism and I have two nephews that have autism as well they are all high functioning but they have the same things gone on just not as serious as ABBY she is beautiful and amazing you all are my hero’s.
As the parent of a child (actually he’s now a teen) who would wake up in the middle of the night I was hoping for your methods for getting Abbie to go back to bed. For us it was impossible because going to the bathroom was overstimulating (because of gastric issues or sickness) and the process of getting him to even go to sleep in the first place was always a battle because he’s innately restless and a sensory seeker. It hasn’t changed much now that he’s 15. I know that you all are in a good place with regards to the use of medication to induce bedtime and have a great routine as far as using the bathroom (most of the time) but could possibly share with us how you were eventually able to get her to sleep through the night and even go back to bed when she wakes up to use the bathroom?

I like isopure cookies and cream blended with a few strawberries , a few drops of Stevita vanilla ,and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. If I want extra vanilla flavor I use unsweetened Califa Farms vanilla almond milk instead of water.
My husband and I work together and sometimes from home as well....there are times we have “mid-mornings meetings” when the kids are at school....because sometimes it’s the only chance we get to be alone! Lol!

That’s what I do. It takes several minutes to cut them out and Abbie gets more and more angry the longer it takes.
