Douglas Thompson is a Cammus rep and has an LP8. He mounted his on the underside of his wheel deck on his profile rig and it completely clears the space for the monitor to be RIGHT THERE at the wheel. I think the best thing about this wheelbase design is how flexible it is for mounting options. Because of the shape you won't bang your knees on the wheelbase if it's under-mounted. If the $299 USD price holds and North American distributors get it, I absolutely will be going with this. I've already got a custom aftermarket wheel setup for my TMX and want a wheelbase I can just move it to without much fuss.
You and I have something in common! Interoperability and making things fit with others is absolutely my goal on this channel. I looked up Douglas. His rig looks glorious! Wish I had the space for a dedicated rig honestly, this is absolutely the way I would go, with a monitor mounted in front of the wheelbase. If we can get Cammus to either confirm or develop a system that allows generic USB devices to be workable, that would be nails in the coffins of the rest of the manufacturers at this price point. - ES
If you join our Discord, we'll be able to give you more help. I've been doing 90 minute+ stints on the base for months now with zero issue, but the in-game sliders are not intuitive, so there may be something there, or there could be something sim dependant too. Either way, link to the discord is in the description, I'll keep an eye out for your message. - ES
Oh, there's nothing stopping you from using separate pedals with any of the wheels mentioned in this video. I hope that didn't come across in the video as such. Having separate pedals is a fairly standard setup, i'd be shocked if any of the wheelbases at this price point didn't have that compatibility. - ES
@@JohnD0h_ITit's that third party wheels can't/couldn't be directly adapted to the Moza QR, much like Fanatec and possibly Cammus (we still haven't heard back from them about it). As I said in the video, I had to speculate on the new wired QR since we don't have our hands on it, so theoretically that could have changed in the meantime, which we certainly hope is the case. If they had been at the SRE this weekend, I would have asked that question, as the amount of third party wheel manufacturers outnumbered the wheelbase manufacturers at least 2:1, and having that support would mean you could buy a Moza base and then whichever wheel (outside of Fanatec) that fits you perfectly. In an ecosystem that isn't as mature as, for example Fanatec's, it's critical that the options are made as wide as possible until Moza can build up their ecosystem to cater for the lesser used wheel types. And even then, having the option is never a bad thing. - ES
It does get hot for sure because it's passively cooled. At the end of a 90 minute stint of driving, it's between 40-50C, Hot, but not burning. Sorry for not including it in the video, it's one of a couple of points that will be in a follow up on the GTR wheel once the workload from SimRacingExpo has been completed. - ES
We got a deskclamp delivered within the bundle. Now, be aware that 8NM torque are a lower force than 25, but they are still not compatible with EVERY desk. If your desk can withstand the forces, Cammus delivers a way to put the LP8 ointo your desk for sure.
I tested the LP8 on the CS5 mount, and it was perfectly fine, but I have a solid worktop as my desk as I use it as a tinkering bench too. The reason it didn't stay there is because one of the things having a full rig has shown me is how the vibrations go through the rig to your butt, giving you a bit more immersion... which is made even better with this honestly.
Ha! So, there's a story to that. While our house is fairly spacious, we foster cats, our total is 7 in the house. They stay in the house as most of them have been neglected or not fully socialised, so that's part of our fostering. That means that all the bigger rooms are used for cats, so the box room, which was a youg girl's bedroom prior to our owning the house, is my office... And between work, sleep and sim-racing, I've not got round to *amending* the wallpaper yet. I hope it wasn't too distracting ;) - ES
Eike here, sorry this wasn't up to the usual standard. Serta has a much better voice for VO than me, I come more from live productions like commentary where clicking isn't as distracting due to the background noise. I'll work to do better in future videos. Cheers!

Good idea! Thanks for that! /sf
Hi, I've had an LP8 for a few days the base heats up very much after 30 minutes I can't get the Force fadbeck to work well can you help me?

What's stopping you from using the USB pedal set you want with Moza DD?

@@WromWrom So, what is the point about the MOZA ecosystem "problem"?

In another review they say that the base gets very hot, is that true?

@@WromWrom *whispers* you already told me that dear cousin of mine I was just messing with ya lol 😂
Fanatec qr1 is 49.99 euro atm
Thanks for the correction! I think this was my mess up on the script!
That's a super recent change, I wrote this about a week and a half ago or so and it was £100 then 😅
