      @@Shadowleecher There was a lot of hype with Lewis Hamilton in the British media, and he still did exceedingly well in his first few years (and thereafter), and there was also a lot of hype for Max Verstappen, since he was the youngest ever and had an entertaining racing style. I don't think hype kills talents. Some drivers who were hyped up were just very unlucky, not poor drivers, like Kubica, who only had half a season with a championship capable car, or Leclerc, who has shown that he can go toe to toe with Max but him and the team just make too many errors, likewise with JPM. I'm sure AKA will be a very good driver, make it to Formula One and will put on entertaining performances from time to time, but whether he wins a championship will be down to what career choices.

    • @Shadowleecher
      @Shadowleecher Год назад +1

      @@potatogirlcultist19 Just because some hyped drivers succeeded doesn't justify labeling every young talent. Comparing Antonelli to established stars ignores the individual journey. Hype adds pressure; not everyone copes. Mentioning unlucky cases doesn't dismiss the potential harm of premature labels. Hype doesn't guarantee success; it risks hindering a young driver's development. Look at Mick Schumacher.

    I think what makes his jump to Prema in F2 even more exciting is that he is almost certainly going to be teammates with Ollie Bearman, and having arguably the two biggest talents in the feeder series in the same team (and a top team at that) is hopefully going to give us an insane season! Imagine, FDA driver vs Mercedes junior driver, Italian vs Brit, fighting it out for the title.

    Talking about all these new prodigies and their rapid rise, really drives home just how insane Max was. I mean, at a younger age than Antonelli now is, he was already outscoring a much older and more experienced Sainz in F1.
    Anyway, it is about time the Italians get a good driver in F1. I'm not Italian, but I somehow want them to have one.

      And now it looks like the one Italian generational talent ended up in the hands of Toto of all people. And with Toto looking after him, Mercedes' resources and potential mentors such as Lewis, Bono and crew, I don't see Andrea leaving the Mercedes ecosystem anytime soon.

I've looked it up, and the only World Champions who came close to being Italian were Niki Lauda, born to an Italian mother in Vienna, Austria, but never held Italian nationality, and Mario Andretti, born in Motovun, Croatia (which was part of Italy at the time of his birth in 1940), who was granted Italian citizenship in 2019. I truly hope Antonelli will become world champion one day! Italy deserves it! The challenge lies in the pressure he will face at home when things get tough! The fact F2 are having those new reg cars does not give an advantage to those being in the series already for a season or 2. It's a more even playingfield. A rookie would have a bigger chance to win that he otherwise would.

    I find him quite overrated considering there are lots of other drivers out there who's done the same as him yet they don't get the same recognition. I also don't see him finishing Top 5 in F2 next year. Drivers like Bearman, Martins, Hauger and Maloney have the upper hand on him for sure considering they've got the experience on their side as well as the same talent.

    I just hope him jumping the ladder doesn't bite back. Yeah, it can work (as Verstappen showed), but it can also be seriously detrimental if the jump doesn't work. It's quite prevalent in NASCAR especially, with young drivers getting rushed from the XFINITY series (basically NASCAR F2) into Cup as there's no restrictions, only for Cup to not pan out and their careers effectively stall out because 'you're only as good as your last race'.

    Kimi started karting at the age of 7... Max started karting at the age of 4. That's 3 years of a child's life in which they still pick up new things like a sponge completely lost for Kimi.
    I'd love for him to become the one who can beat Max his records but that's a tall order. While he might be good, he will need more time to re-acquire the 3 years lost compared to Max. Which leaves him less time at his peak once in F1, if he makes it to F1 that is. After all, I don't see the current drives quiting anytimes soon. So unless someone is kicked out, there won't be a seat.

    If he really is the talent everyone thinks he is, he will have a super license by the end of the year. And he will not be in F2 for 3 years. Mercedes will fast-track him into Williams to make sure that Mclaren or Red Bull don't poach him.
    That would suck for Vesti because that guy is really good as well.
