    I only wish I lived closer to you as I have learned MORE from you after joining a year ago than I have from the Neurologist who has been treating me since 2002. Thank you so much for your knowledge and especially for your "delivery" when explaining ALL things. May God bless you and guide you to continue to help so many. Thank you Dr Boster ❤

      Me too, I was actually arrested for a DWI a few years ago before I was diagnosed. I had maybe an hour of sleep each night, and I was working 10-12 hr days an hour and a half from my house. Basically, I was moving 13-15 hrs a day just for work and then caring for my livestock at home. SO, I got really angry one night and took a benadryl, woke up late, jumped into my clothes, and raced to work. I knew that I was speeding, but I didn't realize how badly. Anyway, speeding, benadryl, unknown MS, and I was pulled over, it WAS my fault because i was speeding.....I fought it for a year and a half, but I finally capitulated because I was missing work at least once a month for a 5 minute court appearance that was interfering in some obligations that I had.
      Now I have a drug conviction, I thought that when i pled guilty that it would show up as a medication, and it is really eating at me emotionally.

    I am so busy; I don't nap at all. If I need a rest, I will only allow myself 15 mins. to rest in my bed and elevate my legs as my couch is in a room where others reside. This allows my mind and body to reset before I move on to my next task which is usually making dinner. I am now into my 13th year of MS, and as I reflect, I needed more naps at the onset of the disease.
    Maybe, I learned to better manage my energy and tasks better. Listen to your body and plan the day accordingly.

    here's a curveball in sleep deprivation. I have been fighting a diagnosis but it had some fantastic parameters that nobody seemed to figure out. My intractable vomiting, all due to an undiagnosed metabolic acidosis where my electrolytes flushed from my system. Treating me with anti-emitting antihistamines kept me puking less but did nothing for rehydration or restoring my low potassium and magnesium and vitamin D while my calcium remained high due to accelerated calcium resorption outpaced bone formation . Meanwhile I have discovered my c2/c3 sloppy vertebrae is pinching, causing wild fluctuations in my BP and O2 levels. .Felt like brain damage

    I learned a lot from this video, but I'm handicapped and unable to safely get out of the bed myself, most days I'm left in my bed even though I'm awake because I can't get the help I need at the moment I need it. As for naps, I have to be in the bedroom to take them because that's where my cpap is and I'm in a powerchair that tilts back almost all day.

    Is it normal for MSers to be so fatigued no matter how much you sleep? What suggestions do you have for those on stimulants? I feel like it makes sleep more difficult for me. I cant even nap. Im on strongest dose of vyvanse just to get a few hrs of being able to function.
    Trying to work on these while waiting for my sleep test for possible central sleep apnea 😁

    I have only had sleep issue since going on a DMT/Ocrevus. Since the 1st half a month ago, have slept horrible with all parameters the same i.e dark, no tv/phone, same bed time 10pm/wake time 6am, no animals/kids, and no napping during the day. Is that a common complaint when starting Ocrevus? Or something else?

    I was once diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea, long before MS Dx. I lost over 80 lbs in weight and things improved. But now I’m being scheduled for a sleep study because they think that I might be fighting Central sleep apnea. That’s when the central nervous system decides to not let me breathe correctly. I’m trapping CO2, not exhaling completely. I was taking things for sleep that barely work and I wonder if they aren’t adding to the problem via poly pharmacy. Edible cannabis right before bed is finally getting me some sleep.

    Hi Doctor! I'm preparing for diagnosis, probably going to hospital in few months. I've got characteristic brain changes, but none of them are contrast - enhanced, and with my neurologist we excluded other illnesses such as borreliosis etc, BUT, I have been having only mild symptoms. One episode of drastic vertigo about 9 years ago and after that all symptoms are mainly: hand shaking, muscle spasticity and cramps, muscle strength weakness, pain and overwhelming fatigue. I'm wondering if this really can be MS, since I don't have any "spectacular" things, such as Lhermits, NO etc. Is there a chance that my MS is less "dramatic" than the stories we can see on the Internet? 🤔

  • @SarahRugheimer
    @SarahRugheimer 2 года назад

    I have a question Dr. B! I've known about sleep restriction, but I worry about implementing it because my feet symptoms (spasticity and pain) get so bad immediately with even one night of not getting enough hours of sleep. They go from feeling normal to horrible. So I've always worried that I would be doing permanent MS damage to them to do the 3-4 weeks of sleep training required. Is this true? Or is it not new damage and it's just suffering with some increased symptoms for awhile that will go back to my normal with good sleep later. Basically, I find that I need to be asleep for 7.5 hours to feel great, that usually takes me 9-10 hours of in bed time. But I'd rather have much higher efficiency and get that 7.5 hours in 8 hours of in bed time. If I sleep restrict to 8 hours, I'll probably be getting around 6 hours of sleep for a bit. And I worried that would lead to a relapse or pseudo-relapse. So I didn't know if it's better to slowly reduce the hours in bed from 10 to 9.5 to 9 to 8.5 to 8 for example or to do what all sleep CBT-I specialists say and sleep restrict first and slowly increase once your efficiency is high.

    Any tips on what to do when I consistently wake up at 4:30 AM instead of 6? I have already locked in my 10 PM bedtime. I stop drinking water between 5 & 7, except the mouthful I need for my DMT at 7. I don't think it's a need to urinate that wakes me, because I only feel the need to go after laying there trying to get back to sleep for 5 minutes. I will be starting to use a CPAP when it arrives for my sleep apnea. I'm hoping that helps. But, still looking for other ideas.
