As a UK fan, you guys are 100% correct in your take on the current coach and situation at Kentucky. We want to win College games. Very few fans watch or care about the NBA.
@@tommygunn2867 Speak for yourself. I could care less about the NBA. The NBA is not a true basketball league. Where you cant play defense. It is all about offense. The NBA appeals very little to many many many UK fans.
It will take a first season to see what he does as a coach….. then it will be easier for him to get guys to play at Kentucky…. It will be exciting to see a coach at Kentucky actually drawing up plays and running different things in offense and defense…. It’s been a LONG TIME…. Not just Man to Man and go make something happen guys 😂because your Athletic .
I was 11 years old when The Incredibles won the 1995-96 National Championship and to me those players and that Rick Pitino team were like Gods. They did an exhibition game tour throughout the state to play in front of the fans that couldn't come watch in Lexington and my dad took me to see them play at Paducah Tilghman High School. I had a Final Four baseball cap on and I was going nuts in the stands totally in awe of seeing these incredible players up close in person. Mark Pope was the team captain and he was over the moon excited to interact and connect with the fans. Late in the game when he got substituted out, he got an ovation, and he pointed into the stands "You with the hat!". I promise you this is a true story. He called me down to the court and he substituted me for him INTO THE GAME. I was literally in a basketball game with my idols Walter McCarty and Jeff Shepherd. I had a turnover but after a couple of possessions they let me have my moment and they got me open with the ball to get a shot off. I was too flustered to function. I heaved up a 15 footer and right as I was watching it fall 2 feet short of the rim thinking it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of my life Tony Delk came flying through the air and turned my airball into a perfect alley-oop for a huge dunk. The gym went nuts. After the game all the fans got to meet the players and everyone was talking about how well they handled themselves and made themselves available. But Mark Pope was different. He went out of his way to spend more time with everyone and there were moments when it seemed like he was more excited to meet them versus the other way around. He didn't just give a signature and move on he was having extended conversations with people and when all the other players had left he was still going. It was his senior year and it really showed how it meant so much to him. So for me now to see the passion and excitement that he has to be at Kentucky - when he talks about how much he loves UK and how he bleeds blue it's honestly a crazy experience for me because 27 years ago I met him in person and experienced first hand that HE IS THE SAME person. I was there. It's not an act for him, this is really who he is. Suffice it to say that now that he is the coach it hasn't been hard for him to make a believer out of me. I think his offense can really work here and it builds off of what he learned from Rick Pitino for a style of play that UK fans will recognize and love. I cannot say enough good things about how he has handled himself so far. I am SO EXCITED to see this team hit the floor and show us good ball movement and shooting. LET'S GO!
Think nearly every UK fan wants these kids who play for us to have successful careers after they take off the jersey. What we tired of was something Pope noted in his introductory remarks. We were tired of kids who felt they were doing UK the privilege of wearing the jersey instead of being respectful of the opportunity to wear the jersey. Mutual success is the goal. What it had turned to is “take, take, take” and lolligag it thru a season with continual promises of how it will be better tomorrow only to fail again tomorrow. We had enough of that.
Desperation hire 10000%. There top 5 candidates all said hell no. Not who fans or admin wanted. With that said, he may end up being the right hire in a couple of years if he can build a good roster. Honestly tho he has never won a tournement game or really had great success anywhere he went. Very average coach as far as record and accolades. Think he may do ok tho.

Not really true. BBN loves our guys that are in the NBA and take pride in how many of our guys are there. We want both not just one or the other

Kentucky will compete with anyone for sure. As Barkley would say, I guarantee!!
I also could care less about the NBA. Only player I care about in the NBA is Anthony Davis if you can guess why@@tommygunn2867
Hearing the FO68 guys wax poetic about the Kentucky Coach is going to take some getting used to!
2-3:00 Spot on Jeff! Well said.

U right men fans don't want ear cal lies
Justin Edwards declared for the draft, Rob went to the draft, and Reed will most likely follow them.
He hasn't won over all UK fans. UK hiring Pope has made me despise the program

@@wtk6069that would be awesome
@@wtk6069hey I would be ok with that lol
Wait until they lose a few games.
And it will happen, they are going to suck. Pope wont last 3 years at UK
Don't take much to convince BBN, we ate up Cal's bullshit for 15 years..
The first 10 were pretty good though.
@@alostcause4035better than pretty good.
