Everyone keeps acting salty and saying that the band itself is satanic but it's not. Ghost is always quick to say that they use satanic messages for the sake of irony. They want to reveal how ironic religion truly is. That's why, in most of their songs, if you take out the "Satanic vocabulary" (for lack of a better term), it could pass as a Christian song. The best example of this would be Cirice.

So many "cool" kids suddenly commenting how extremely "cringy" this is. The satanism is just Ghost's shtick, a satire of sorts, they don't take themselves seriously. So before posting a dumb comment, think about who is the "cringy" one here.

Since I’m seeing new people in the comments I thought I would let everyone know that Ghost aren’t real satanists ITS SATIRE their goal is to make fun of religion or to be “cringey” they love theater and their stage performance is amazing so please stop judging them from this one song and go check out others such as Square Hammer, Cirice, or Mummy Dust

Ghost isn't Satanic. If anything, they're subversive in their critique of Catholicism by telling the story of the Anti-Christ and other occult-ish things. Their critique isn't new either! People have been questioning organized religion for ages. It's a story people haven't heard or were too afraid to tell, with imagery (skull painting, evil priests, old school horror) and meanings that scare people. But honestly a society without critique like this will allow us to become prisoners of another's ideals. Also this song slaps and I'm a fucking Catholic, lol

Ghost isn't critiquing religion or Christianity at all. It's more like he thought "what if a satanist or maybe the devil himself, made a pop rock band? What would it sound like?" and this is the result. He isn't attacking religion, he's working within the Christian/Abrahamic mythology.

If you listen to the song double reversed you can hear a song about man being like lice and that invite you to hail satan.
What I like about Ghost is they have found a great median of great writing and simplicity keeping it catchy and very melodic.

Saw them 2 days ago in Amsterdam. Very memorable concert although i like the heavier stuff like this song more then their "Doom" songs. Highly recommended band to go to for a good show. :).
