Alright thanks to the comments i’m reacting to Chaka Khan today! Damn I did not know that was her 😭🤦🏽♂️ and I like calling E L O ,,, ELO cause it has a ring to it 😂. I’m just like that. My brain is scrambled hahah
@@BlackPegasusRaps Through the Fire! Thank me later 😏
Jeff Lynne ELO
You should checkout "Good Vibrations" by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch!! This was a Hit!
Mark Wahlberg is the singer! It was released in 1991! I think you will really enjoy it. This was back in the days when he was just starting out as a new artist. If you haven't heard the song Mark Wahlberg hiphop/raps in it, he's really a great artist/talent
@@BlackPegasusRaps do you love what you feel Rufus ft Chaka Khan, what you gonna do for me, love me still, I m every woman yes Whitney did it a remake of Chaka, Fools paradise etc
you really need to get in the way back machine with Winwood and check him out when he was in highschool... the Spencer Davis Group "Gimme Some Lovin'"
the evolution musically for Winwood is just amazing....one of the most talented musicians of all time.
Chaka Khan is perfection.. her voice added so much to this song.
You should listen to some Chaka Khan … Sweet Thing she sang this with Rufus
No, Pegasus. That's not Tina Turner. That's the one and only Chaka Khan singing backup vocals. By the way, this song went all the way to hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the summer of 1986. This song is a definitely banger indeed!!!
@@patriciatigheyes....and Through the Fire"!
NOPE. 😏, Chaka Khan.
Hi Robert, another great reaction! I love how you look at the greater story in the music which, like love itself, can unite us and heal us if we let it.
About your audio problem, try to see if it’s one vs both channels. Run a 10k square wave through it and look for nasties in the scope display. But you probably know troubleshooting well after all those years on the road…
Be well!
"Back in the High Life Again" is one of his best. Absolutely beautiful.
LOVE that song
James Taylor helped on that
and "The Finer Things"
I'm using the Warren Zevon version at my funeral.
"Roll with it "----is another HIT!!
my favorite for sure
Steve Winwood said that higher love = spiritual love.
Steve Winwood is inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame- he was a backup session player for major stars touring England when he was as young as 10, he was the lead singer and keyboardist for Spencer Davis Group at 16 and knocked the Beatles out of #1 on the charts at 17, when guitar god Eric Clapton heard him sing and play keyboards he said - I heard a pimply teenager who sounded like Ray Charles and had to be in a band with him- so they had a 1 album collaboration with Blind Faith, he had his own band Traffic and then in the 80s went solo with tracks like this one- he is only 76 and still performing with his own world music style
Beautiful! Thank YOU
My favorite bit of Traffic trivia is, the first time they flew in to San Francisco the Grateful Dead picked them up at the airport.
He’s a legendary writer, singer, keyboard, guitar, etc…. Talent extraordinaire
Steve Winwood is a legend!
He really should hear "Gimme Some Lovin' " from the" Spencer Davis Group!
Steve Winwood is a musical GIANT. Played with Traffic,Blind Faith, Dave Mason, The Spencer Davis Group,....and a brilliant solo career!!! You SIMPLY MUST hear Can't Find My Way Home. Whichever version is awesome. I love ❤️ the acoustic when he's just at home, noodling on the guitar, with that immortal voice. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
The acoustic version of Can't Find My Way Home is REALLY incredible.
Low Spark of High Heeled Boys is a great one too!
@@jkmarshall3553 Absolutely!
Chaka Khan and Steve Windwood made thus masterpiece ❤
In the mid 60's, as a teenager, Stevie Winwood was the lead singer of the Spencer Davis Group, who had a few number one hits. He sang his heart out, especially in "I'm a Man", also great classics are "Gimme some Lovin'" (which came to second fame with the movie The Blues Brothers) and "Keep on Running".
hell! I didn;t know that! And that's my era.
Don’t forget he was in Traffic and Blind Faith.
Keep on Running was written and sung by a Jamaican, Jackie Edwards.
The Steve Winwood rabbit hole is pretty deep. Go all the way back to the 60s and listen to him when he was young with the Spencer Davis Group. Find the song "Gimme Some Lovin" as one example. You may also recall he was playing the keyboard in the performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps for the George Harrison memorial concert (the one where Prince goes wild on the guitar at the end). He is still performing by the way - just had a concert at Madison Square Gardens.
Rabbit hole is truth
All is Love
He was so young when he was with the SDG
Steve is a musical GENIUS! Need to hear the song Roll With It. It’s so good. He is still touring.
Chaka khan is magnificent.
That’s the great Chaka Khan! Love her, love Steve Winwood and this song. It always puts me in a better mood!
So pleased you finally discovered Steve Winwood!
Steve Winwood is one of the few musical geniuses in the industry. A child prodigy, he started playing the piano at four, began playing with his father and brother in pubs at age eight. In his early teens he was backing some of the biggest American blues, rock artists in the industry when they toured in England. By 14 he and his brother formed The Spencer Davis Group. This was my introduction to him. Keep on Running in 1964, followed up by I’m a Man in 1966 which is one of my favorites. Steve is a multi instrumentalist, a prolific songwriter, has written for numerous artists, collaborated with a multitude of artists, is highly respected in the industry, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has a deep catalog of great songs. The list of achievements goes on…..
If I can recommend any song it would be Roll With It. Steve is the epitome of blue eyed soul (along with a few others).
His EPIC song is CAN'T FIND MY WAY HOME! One of the most covered songs in existence!❤❤❤
Chaka Khan is featured . Steve winwood another blue-eyed soul singer or maybe his eyes are brown I'm not sure. 😂 Great song! High Life is another goodie.
Chaka Khan, possibly the most beautiful singer ever.
“Back in the High life again” and “Valerie” are two of his best songs you should check out.
YES!!! Don’t you know what the night can do
Too!
VALERIE is one of my FAVORITES!
One of the great rock and roll voices of all time! He sang hits in the Spencer Davis Group, in Traffic, in the supergroup Blind Faith, and then as a solo artist.
This 80's version of Winwood is probably where most folks became familiar with him. But 20 years earlier, as a teenager, he saw success with the soulful Spencer Davis Group (I'm a Man, and Gimme Some Lovin"). In the 70's he moved on to Traffic (Low Spark of High Heeled Boys), and Blind Faith (Can't Find My Way Home). Through every turn, his distinctive voice was a constant and his second coming in the 80's was deservedly popular.
If you like this joint. You need to listen to "Roll with It". One of his best!
Steve Winwood is a legend!
Split Decision, Valerie, Don’t you know what the night can do, while you see a chance, and roll with it are all excellent songs worth listening too
I truly wish Stevie and the legendary Ms. Chaka Khan did more together! Their voices compliment each other SO amazingly! Like they were born to sing together!
Dude! That IS Ms. Chaka Khan!!! Perfection in an embodied voice. The two of them just rocked it!!
Stevie Winwood is a legend of the highest degree. In many bands already stated here. A brilliant musician. ♥️
One thing that makes Steve so incredible, is that his voice still sounds pretty much the same as it did way back in the mid 60s ❤
A great Steve Winwood song
High life again
Steve Winwood was in many groups and started at age 12 in early 1960’s. Everyone on radio thought he was Ray Charles. He is a musical genius!
That’s THEE Chaka Khan on backing vocals and THEE Niles Rogers of CHIC fame on the bass guitar.
Not bass -- regular 6-string guitar.
Listen to him I can't find my way home that is so true Steve Winwood
“ROLL WITH IT” was the next video that popped up! It’s 🔥! 😊
Steve Winwood was everywhere in the 1960s through 70s, and the 1980s. It's very likely you've heard his distinctive voice in hit songs from the groups in which he sang lead vocals, as well as the numerous hit songs from his very successful solo career, such as "While You See a Chance" from his album "Arc of a Diver" (1980), and "Valerie" from his album "Talking Back to the Night" (1982). His solo career reached a high point in 1986 with the album "Back In the High Life" featuring the US number one hit "Higher Love" (featuring Chaka Kahn on backing vocals and in the video) and "Back in the High Life Again"; a wonderful song which includes backing vocals by James Taylor and a prominent mandolin played by Winwood. In 1988, Winwood reached the top of the US singles chart again with his biggest solo hit "Roll With It." His album of the same title also topped the US albums chart.
Steve Winwood was born in Birmingham, England in 1948, and was already a semi-professional musician, playing keyboards and guitar, while still at school. He's a multi-instrumentalist, but he rose to prominance in the 1960s due to his distinctive, soulful, high tenor voice. As lead vocalist with "The Spencer Davis Group", he had two chart-topping singles in the UK by the time he was 18 years old; "Keep on Running" and "Somebody Help Me". The band's breackthrough hits in the US were "Gimme Some Lovin'" and "I'm a Man." All these songs are high energy classics!
In April 1967, Windwood left "The Spencer Davis Group" and the formed the band "Traffic" with drummer Jim Capaldi, guitarist Dave Mason, and multi-instrumentalist Chris Wood. Traffic has long been noted as one of the major British psychedelic groups, whose music also borrowed from jazz and folk influences as well as rock and pop. Hit songs included "Paper Sun" and "Dear Mr. Fantasy."
A brief hiatus from Traffic saw Winwood join forces with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grechin to form the short-lived, English rock supergroup "Blind Faith", who released a chart-topping album containing the hit song "Can't Find My Way Home." When this group disbanded in late 1969, Winwood returned to Traffic until they disbanded in 1974. Great songs by Traffic from this period include "Empty Pages" and "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys."
Throughout his subsequent solo career, Steve Winwood has been much respected on both sides of the Atlantic as a vocalist, all-round musician, and regular collaborator with or session player for other artists.
Among the best love songs written!!!
OMG STEVE WINWOOD WAS A TEENAGER BACK IN THE MID 1960'S WHEN HE WAS LEAD VOCALIST FOR THE SPENCER DAVIS GROUP AND IN 67 THEY KNOCKED THE BEATLES FROM THE NUMBER1 SLOT WITH GIMMIE SOME LOVIN , BY 68 HE WAS LEADING THE BAND TRAFFIC . HE WAS A SESSION MUSICIAN AT 10 FLIPPIN YEARS OLD ...OMG AMAZING CAREER, PLAYED WITH CLAPTIN ALSO.
Low Spark of the High Heeled Boys!!!!! Stevie at his best!!!! Great song....
Hell yes! Steve Winwood is a friggin legend ❤ I'd highly recommend his epic song Valerie xxx
"Roll with it"..... best song by Winwood. Will make your play list!
You need to watch 15 year old Steve winwood singing nobody knows when you’re down and out. Hard to believe he was 15 years old and so talented. Also his video “roll With it” is great.
Everything about this is 80s - music, hair, dress, sound. Lots of radio play.
Arc of a Diver is a phenomenal album. Winwood can play about any instrument you can throw at him.
No music today can touch the 80s. It was musical bliss, it was a vibe. It was a time that will never be repeated.
Chaka Khan - Tell Me Something Good.😊
The opposite of love isn’t hate it is fear. Hate comes from fear. Love is the highest form of energy. Fear is the lowest form of energy🙏🏽☺️💖
High school graduation memories!
A voice like no other
Back in the high life, Valerie, roll with it are ones to check out!
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite vocalists. He was a child prodigy. He wrote Gimme Some Lovin' as a kid. His voice at 13 sounded like Ray Charles. Amazing!
Steve Winwood has been in superstar groups since the 60's - Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith and of course his extensive solo career.
Roll with it baby is awesome!!
This song is what we need today!!
Whaaat WHAT!!!
Beautiful song. Takes me back to being a kid listening to American top 40 on Sundays in the car with my folks
From his days with Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and as a solo superstar Winwood is a musical genius. He played piano on his dad's group when he was eight years old with his back to the audience. He was just filling in for a missing band member! Try Blind Faith, he wrote many songs and sang like a 70-year-old man when he was 15. You'll never forget him.
HE IS 💯🔥
One of my all time favorite songs!
Love Chaka Kahn!
💥What the night can do
💥Roll with it
💥Valerie
He's a musical genius! Check out "While You See a Chance"...it goes on the forever play list!
The singers songwriters he did session work with was crazy. Such a talent
Nice reaction sir. His HIGHER LOVE is a spiritual love. Give me, give me good loving.
You've stumbled on a musical genius with a deep background. Delve deep and "Just Roll With It Baby". You'll be glad you did!
Oh yeah, that's sweet Chaka Khan with him in the video. She happened to be next door at the time. He asked her to join him. So glad she accepted!
I loved this album so much. Takes me back to 86, 87, 88. Great music back then. ❤
This song came from his 1986 album *Back in the High Life*. From the Spencer Davis Group in the middle 1960s to Blind Faith, Traffic, and his solo career, Winwood's rabbit hole is very deep. Check out some of his other hits: from Spencer Davis Group, "I'm A Man" and "Gimme Some Lovin'"; from Blind Faith (1969), "Can't Find My Way Home"; from Traffic, "Glad/Freedom Rider" and "The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys"; and from his solo career, "While You See A Chance", "Spanish Dancer" (both from his album *Arc of A Diver* in 1980); "Valerie" and "Still in the Game" (both from his 1982 album *Talking Back to the Night*); "Split Decision" and "Freedom Overspill" (from *Back in the High Life*), and others.
Love _Arc of A Diver_ got it on original vinyl along with _Back In The High Life_
_Night Train_ is such a JAM!
I love "Roll with Me Baby"...great video.
His “Back In The Highlife” record is one of the best records of the 80’s. (Cover to cover)
Absolutely one of my favorites either way!
Bro, you are scratching at the edge of what is possibly the deepest rabbit hole in rock and roll. Enjoy!
My Steve Winwood favorites, Blind Faith, "Can't Find My Way Home" and Traffic, "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys".
"Dear Mr. Fantasy" is a great song too!
So lucky to have seen him in concert too lol.
History does not change. It repeats.
This may be my favorite song of all time. Everything about it is perfect. I love the 80s vibe, his voice is tremendous, the lyrics are tremendous, the drums, the background vocals, the horns, everything.
You may have heard the hook from the Whitney Houston cover.
Steve Winwood was always a favorite voice for me. I had forgotten about how wild this video was. Funky and Fine!!! Great reaction. Yes, I heard the distortion. Turned the song into "Give me a Higher Screech" !!!😱 Glad it wasn't in my phone though. Later Dude.....😊
This reminds me of being little going on holiday in the back of my dad's car , he would play this on loop . Seen him live in the Bridgwater Hall , manchester uk with my dad before he passed and it always makes me think of my dad xx
Check out Arc of a Diver. Also he was with Traffic. They had lots of great songs. The super group, Blind Faith. His first hit was with The Spencer Davis Band. He was 13 at the time. Astounding voice.
Love, love, love Steve Winwood. "Higher Love" is a favorite of mine. Check out my second fav - "Valerie". But really, any of Steve's songs are fantastic. As others have said, it's not Tina Turner in the video, it's Chaka Khan.
Someone mentioned ROLL WITH IT - Definitely check that out - it’s a banger!!
Steve Winwood was 16 years old when he played for Spencer Davis Group, and they had a hit called Give Me Some Lovin.
My husband and I saw him in concert many years ago and his daughter sang Chaka Khan’s part, she did a great job. He’s incredibly talented, he’s been performing since he was about ten years old. He can play numerous instruments, he’s especially proficient on keyboards, piano and Hammond B3 organ for instance, and is also an excellent guitar player. Check out Roll With It, Gimme Some Lovin’, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Dear Mr. Fantasy, Can’t Find My Way Back Home, I’m a Man, Valerie, all are great!
Great song from my childhood
Steve Winwood. Legendary - he began with the Spencer Davis Group back in the mid-60s, a fifteen year old with a voice like Ray Charles. After that he founded Traffic, was a member of Blind Faith, and then a soloist. An incredible catalogue. Check out "Gimme Some Loving" (SDG), "Dear Mr Fantasy" (Traffic), "Can't Find My Way Home" (Blind Faith), and both "Night Train" and "Spanish Dancer" (solo).
Steve Winwood was a musical prodigy.
There's a clip on YT of him performing "NOBODY KNOWS YOU WHEN YOU'RE DOWN AND OUT" - at 15 years old.
His album "ARC OF A DIVER" (released in 1980...) is an absolute masterpiece - and, being a multi instrumentalist, he played every instrument used on the album.
Banger! Loved this in middle school. Totally recorded it on some sort of mixtape, right after 'Midnight Blue' by Lou Gramm.
Ty for reaction! CHAKA! 😊
Roll with it, great tune!
Steve Winwood has had that amazing sound since he was a kid. Check out "Can't Find My Way Home". If you're lucky, you'll find a version where he's doing it with Eric Clapton on guitar.
When he was 16 years old he sang "Gimme Some Lovin" fir the Spencer Davis Group (a huge banger).
And this whole album is brilliant, well deserving of all the Grammys. You gitta check out "Back in the High Life"
Always loved this guy....check out Valerie.
Keep the oldies coming BP❤️❤️❤️❤️👵🏼 Gmaw
Huey Lewis and the News
Another popular band of that era.
Hip to be Square
Power of Love
Heart of Rock and Roll
Cruisin’
And my favorite, “Feeling Alright.”
Now you need to listen to Roll With It, very funky!
My favourite songs by Stevie are when he was a teenager back in the 60s, he was in The Spencer Davis Group. "Keep On Runnin" "Gimme Some Lovin" & "Im A Man.
Btw, thats Chaka Khan singing with Stevie. 🎼👌🎵
Should do " Gimme Some Lovin' " By The Spencer Davis Group when Steve Winwood was only 17 years old
Saw him on the 15th. 38 years later and he still sounds amazing!
I love this song (1986) and I love Steve Winwood’s voice! Chaka Khan (in the video, not Tina Turner) coming in on the vocals just takes the whole thing up a notch! Producer/musician Nile Rogers is also playing guitar in the band!❤❤
Yeah!
Winwood was in several bands, starting at the age of 14. The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Ginger Baker's Air Force, Eric Clapton and the Powerhouse & went solo in 1977.
Good to see Tom as the Guest. 🎉 that must be a cool swtchup
Steve Winwood is my favorite musical artist. I like his Traffic era music. Dr. Mr. Fantasy, Low Spark Of Highheel Boys, Empty Pages, Freedom Rider, Many A Mile To Freedom. Btw, that is Chaka Kahn & Nile Rogers from Chic on guitar
He's a great artist and even better live. You should try to find his Back in the High Life live.
The other guy in that video was Jason Bonham, son of John Bonham, who was in Led Zeppelin. He died & The Eagles just sort of took him under their wings & gave him father's that he not only needed, but personally knew his father!! ❤
My favorite Steve Winwood song is Can't Find My Way Home, the acoustic version.
Goodness, where to begin. Steve became a professional musician at 14 with the band Spencer Davis Group. Went on to create two super groups Blind Faith and Traffic. This song is from his solo career. Not Tina, Chaka Khan. A real legend in the world of music.
Little Stevie back in the day, youngster at Woodstock.
This is such a great song. Winwood was a vocalist for an Eric Clapton project I can't remember.
Blind Faith with Ginger Baker and Ric Grech.
Steve Winwood is a very talented British Singer/ Songwriter who has been showing his talents since 1964. A great Keyboards Player and Guitarist with a unique voice. He has played with some great Groups such as The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith with Eric Clapton. He has a long list of notable music tracks!
Steve was in a band called "Spencer Davis Group" as a teenager and then bands called "Traffic" and "Blind Faith" . Check out "Gimme Some Lovin", "I'm a Man" and Can't Find My Way Home". Eric Clapton was also in Blind Faith.
