That keyboard sound, mixing with slight echo on the vocals, perfect production…
For me it’s all about that keyboard sound…

Great artist and great song....he must have been so in love with his wife when he wrote the song,I wonder why feelings change and love dies....probably also Billy Joel wondered why....and I do understand he didn't feel like singing that song....anyway we must thank his ex wife for being the inspiration of this wonderful song, thank you for this reaction Jelani😉👍

He has said he wrote it because he couldn’t afford a gift for some holiday or birthday and when he gave it to her she asked if she got the publishing rights too. He said that kind of took the bloom off the song. He and the band didn’t want it on the album. Linda Ronstadt, Phoebe Snow and his producer Phil Ramone convinced him. Good thing they were persuasive. Lol

Isn't that something that some of the greatest songs ever to be released almost didn't happen due lack of enthusiasm for them? Another example of this was Marvin Gaye's What's Goin On. Berry Gordy the owner of Motown Records hated the song and thought it would ruin his career but Marvin put his foot down and refused to record anything else unless Motown released the song. And the rest is history!

Thanks for the reaction to my favorite artist. I would love to hear you react to more Billy Joel. “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant” is a masterpiece similar in form to Bohemian Rhapsody. He has a very deep and eclectic catalog with many hits, but I believe his album cuts are some of his best work. Someone mentioned above that “And so it Goes” is a great deep cut. It is one of the few songs that Billy says he wouldn’t change a thing on. Please check out more Billy Joel.

I love River of Dreams, Honesty, Piano Man, She's Always a Woman, etc. However, my favorite Billy Joel song is a bit of a deep track. "And So It Goes" is just a very simple, but heart-wrenching song. Read the lyrics. Very powerful.
