  • The construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road represents a significant infrastructural project aimed at enhancing connectivity and economic development along Nigeria's coastline. Spanning over 700 kilometers, this road is envisioned to link major cities, ports, and economic hubs, facilitating smoother transportation of goods and people. Its completion is expected to boost trade, tourism, and regional integration, fostering socio-economic growth in the region. However, challenges such as funding, environmental impact, and land acquisition may need to be carefully addressed to ensure the project's success and long-term sustainability

Ozed, that's the best route they can go, if they go through the normal route there will be more demolitions, landmark and oniru would be gone regardless because Eko Atlantic will get there, if you noticed, the eko Atlantic has gotten to landmark already sef, and the government owns the coastline, 250m, landmark is just borrowing it, remember no permanent buildings are demolished except the jakande side, plus it's just oniru and landmark beachfront the road will pass before it intersects back to the normal route at lekki then the road will be expanded from the current four lanes to t lanes and space for train track, so the government was actually considerate, plus that place will still generate revenue for landmark cos according to the government spaces for recreational centres, hotels etc will be provided, landmark will basically have an hotel there and the value would elevate, the masses shouting are the ones with less foresight and information, plus the beach becomes free and not commercialised, less traffic on normal route and this road will be faster, it will also open up the South south states for tourism, places like Delta and Cross River

So yes it's the government fault. #2- how many other cases did past government took money under the table and approved building sites, knowing dame well this land is not to be built on. #3- when people start building on these land why didn't the government stop them. Some of these areas, entire small towns are built up. Not to mention water ways. The government is 100% to be blamed. I agree with the government for building this highway, but a project that was planned years ago that is so important for the country, should have been well guarded.

Though this road could have been designed as the first smart highway in Nigeria with all the interceptions/junctions having overhead bridges and underpass with roundabouts. I'm so sick of the Federal Government. Spending trillions on the construction of a coastal Road in a country with a perpetually collapsed power grid is ridiculous. Power is literally the most basic infrastructure. I will never be impressed with a Federal project that isn't power. The fact that Nigeria is still powerless points to a huge purposefully planned systematic problem.

You lack the understanding and foresight, but don't worry when the first phase is completed you will understand, and by the time it is finished you will all say God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This project alone solves the Lekki Epe expressway traffic gridlock, opens up Dangote refinery, Lagos Sea port, Lekki international Airport, Calabar port, Port Harcourt, Aba, Delta etc to the whole country. New resorts, beaches and tourist attractions will spring up all the way from Lekki peninsula to Ondo, Benin, Delta, South East, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states respectively. You can live in Lagos and be running a business in the other cities which within few hours you are back and forth.

@@mrnaija101 I have more foresight than you villager. I don't live in Nigeria so I can't be impressed by a fraudulent coastal road in a country that lacks electricity. Every project, amenity and infrastructure runs on electricity. A person that's been in 9ja their whole life wouldn't understand the importance of electricity. It's the basic, the foundation in which a country's economy is built upon. A country without electricity is in a state of emergency. Literally nothing else should matter to a country without electricity!!!

@@Bryan-eq6ntGod bless you big time, this project is a highly fraudulent one and people won't realise it until it is very late after 8 years. Electricity and security is very much important.. And the announced cost of this project is over padded big time but only few of us that studied quantity surveyor knows this..All that glitters aren't gold

@@effiomdennis9846 Most Nigerians aren't economically literate. That's why they fall for white elephant projects and propaganda. Every feudalistic socialist government does white elephant projects while stifling the free market because most of their constituents relate multi billion projects to growth, the government knows this and so they do it. They don't understand that without the most basic infrastructure (to ensure lower barriers to entry), a corrupt free environment and a lack of insecurity; it's impossible to grow an economy. The fact that our government is lackadaisical in their approach to power proves to me that they're only worried about making themselves look good for the next election.

To add to this point. You must think economics is film trick. North Korea has built fancy roads but their economy is falling. Do you know why ?. Because their government has stifled the free market. Those businesses you're talking about won't spring up because there's no electricity to power them and the government is scaring off investors by how sporadic they are. My dear, Nigeria is not the first Marxist state. The decline in our GDP is not magic

The completed part looks very ugly to my eyes. I am not happy with the way our projects are done. I want something ground-breaking and modern. Jeez!
