Yes. It´s him. Brezhnev was chief political commissar of the 4th Ukrainian Front, which entered Prague in May 1945, after the German surrender. He was close friend of Nikita Khrushchev, who had supported Brezhnev's career since the prewar years.

What did the nazis do? Oh, you mean how they stabbed their soviet buddies in the back? Forget that! Instead pay attention to how the soviets forgot that, this parade (see below link) was on 1 May, 1941, and their special friends who were attending parade as “very special guests”, by that time already invaded several countries in Europe! Yet, USSR did not care much and had their friends from Berlin invited to visit and attend the parade in Moscow. Btw, this footage is in Russian language, so, enjoy the history lesson, which you’ve been deprived for decades by soviet authorities, who also kept you in the strictest information vacuum! I shall remind you, that the soviet and German nazi generals had a common victory parade in the city of Brest, after they both invaded Poland, one from the east and the other one from the west. Attendees of the Wehrmacht and Red Army parade were, from the soviet side: Brigadier, Semyon Krivoshein, and from German side: Major General, Heinz Guderian and Mauritz von Wiktorin. Would you like to see? ‘Cause I don’t think soviet authorities would’ve included this in their version of “history book”. Let me know.

Have you all noticed those cool US made Willis and Sudabaker trucks? :) Or British and American tanks? USSR had almost nothing when war started. That’s why Germans waltzed circa 2000 km within Russia in only few weeks! ONLY after US-provided Lend & Lease program kicked-in the tide started to reverse. L&L included almost $12 billion ($200 billion adjusted) worth of help, including tanks, various military transport, which Russians had almost none (they moved artillery using horses!), machine guns like Thompson (so called Tommy Gun) which Russians called PP-SHA, mobile factories (which Ford reassembled in different USSR territories), foodstuff and clothing, including US and British made boots (which my grandpa wore so proudly). Pretty much everything that USSR needed for fighting back the mighty Wehrmacht. Well, the events that occurred also played huge role and helped USSR. Like how Brits didn’t give up and fought back successfully, even bombing the German towns. Overall, Hitler’s own stupid decision to ignore his generals and attack Britain while still not finished with USSR. All these factors combined have played the major role for USSR fighting back Wehrmacht successfully and eventually winning the war against their former buddies, German nazis! Remember, Stalin and Hitler were in bed, until both attacked Poland. One from the East and the other from the West. They actually paraded together in Polish city of Brest! You can find archival photos of top German and Russian generals accepting victory parades in Poland. Eventually Hitler backstabbed Stalin and WW2 ignited in full force!
The Soviet Union received a contribution of US$11.3 billion from the United States. In current values, that means 180 billion. Between 1941 and 1945, the Soviet Union received the following equipment: 400,000 jeeps and trucks 14,000 planes 8,000 tractors 13,000 tanks 1.5 million blankets 15 million pairs of military boots 107,000 tons of cotton 2.7 million tons of oil products 4.5 million tons of food And if the Soviets had not received this help, what would the outcome of Barbarossa have been? Thank you for your comment.
@@warpedia Less than 30% of the lend-lease (not help) made it to the USSR, it all went to Britain. greenpeace8238 is right. Production in the USSR was abysmal compared to Lend-Lease. The result would be the same, the Banner of Victory over the Reichstag
@@soyuz5824 What you mean “less than 30%…”? Britain and USSR had separate L&L funds allocated for them. USSR received around $13 billion (circa $280 billion adjusted), Britain received just a bit more. That’s it. It took decades for USSR to repay back and mind you, the US agreed after Soviets (and later Russia) pleaded that they would pay only fraction of it! Around $600 million. Russia finished paying it in mid 2000’s.
