Great video! I still don't ever plan on playing this stage again in my life lol, but the overall quality of this video plus the useful tips will greatly benefit those that do decide to take this challenge on!
Oh forgot to add that the titles of the stages, the overall flow of what you covered, the volume, etc. really stood out to me! Your video creation skills are getting mad good! 👍
I just beat it last night, all you need is the correct gear 😅 I had a practice run on 0 mayhem before I solo mayhem 11. I’m a simple fadeaway Fl4k build, and had to swap to gamma burst with red fang during the crystal stage.
Unpopular opinion but guardian takedown is great and quite fun after they added the jump pads to the awful jump sections. The only real problem is the drop rate for dedicated drops and the sheer amount of time it takes to complete, with most averaging TGT around 15 - 30 mins which is something most players are to impatient for.
Guardian Takedown even from release when it was way more difficult has been my favorite of the two takedowns. While MTD is far more accesible with much more use as a quick way to test out builds and such, the challenge, design, and bosses are far more engaging despite the immunity phases which many people hate, but I love the emphasis on patterns and movement over straight combat. Some of my favorite content in Borderlands overall.
@@arachnica_ I think both of the takedowns are really good - Maliwan is kinda chill when I just wanna have fun and Guardian is a good challenge and I feel good when I beat it
The dedicated drop rates are the worst. My partner and I have completed the GT hundreds of times, and only gotten 3 Lightspeeds and two Globtrottrs ever. It's crazy how rare those items seem to be.
Do you have any other guides explaining different activities a player can do within the game. BL3 has so much content, but I am not sure what all does the game has to offer in terms of content, in-game activities, etc
I've really only got these two takedown guides as far as activity-specific guide videos, but I do have a video where I do a raid boss rush where I go through and kill everything considered a raid boss back to back, which also pretty much covers a majority of the endgame activities. But that does spoil a lot of the bosses, so here's a list! Proving Grounds/Trials are sort of takedown-esque. They're much shorter, being 3 small mobbing sections and a final boss. They provide better rewards for completing the optional parts of their respective quests, mostly just being completion in a certain amount of time. The final reward chest is a really good source of world drop class mods and relics, as this is most of the time what they give. Every Trial has a True mode similar to the takedowns which can be enabled at the pedestal in front of each of them. The mobbing in True mode stays the same however the final boss is given a raid-boss style health pool and offers additional drops. Takedowns, of course, being Maliwan and Guardian. I assume given you've seen this video, they don't need much of an explanation. Circles of Slaughter are arenas where you fight through waves of mobs. If you've played the past games, you might initially be turned off by these since they really sucked, however in BL3 they've been improved DRASTICALLY and are really fun to fight through and can be a great source of world drops, the Slaughtershaft with a shlooter being especially good. Each also has a final boss at the end which each has specific drops. There's 3 of these, the Cistern of Slaughter, Slaughterstar 3000, and the Slaughtershaft. There's 3 events that can be enabled from the title screen, being Bloody Harvest, Broken Hearts Day, and Revenge of the Cartels. Each of these also come with a couple objectives to complete which will unlock various rewards, able to be accessed by a tab in the inventory screen. Broken Hearts Day isn't anything too spectacular but does have a couple drops and cosmetics. Bloody Harvest and Cartels has quests given by Maurice that will allow you to take on Heck and Villa Ultraviolet, which are both pretty much another form of Takedown. Arms Race is sort of a love it or hate it activity. Personally, I absolutely love it. You're thrown into an arena with absolutely none of your gear and have to fight enemies, gearing up as you go while a circle closes in. The pitch of it is literally just PvE battle royale, and it does that pretty well. There's also gear unique to Arms Race that you can get by finding it as a world drop during a run or by going to specific loot chests that can have the item you're looking for in it. Any items you want to keep though have to be extracted at specific extraction points located on the map. And finally is Vault Cards, which is pretty much a battle pass. There's 3 of them and you can freely swap between them to earn XP in that specific card just by doing the usual things that earn you normal XP. As you earn XP, you can obtain keys that can be spent to unlock the various weapons and cosmetics available in each pass. They also all have daily and weekly objectives which grant more XP. And that's at least everything I can think of currently. Also I highly recommend this website www.lootlemon.com/ as it's a fantastic resource for planning builds and learning about items.
Low gravity + Melee enemies with insane knockback + Insta-death pitfalls.... so much fucking fun. Add to that the over 9001 insta-kill phases of the first boss... Yeah I hate this thing, honestly. Worst Borderlands content across all games.
I hated Arms Race. I considered it the worst thing I've ever experienced in any video game ever (and I've been around since the Atari 2600 days). That was until I encountered the Guardian Takedown. This is without a doubt the single most poorly designed, worst thing that's ever been put out into the world. The rest of BL3 is, for the most part, great (Arms Race excluded). I loved all the DLC packs, took down Hemovorous solo, did the trials, all on mayhem 11, but this isn't fun in any way shape or form. It's not about skill or build at all, it's about working around wonky mechanics. You're basically FORCED to play multiplayer here (which I absolutely despise, thanks hackers), and even with my end game ready FL4K, Red Fang, blah blah blah, I still can't clear that first crystal section. Beyond bad design, Gearbox.
Unfortunately he didn't explain how to beat the first crystals stage. I still haven't found a video that explains how to stop the auto death. I can't figure it out for the life of me but there's some kind of secret he's not telling us. If you play this on easy without Mayhem mode you still won't get past the first crystals stage as you randomly just die in the middle of fighting even if you have your shields and health. Still trying to find a RUclipsr that will explain it but I have yet to hear anyone address it. I think I'll just chalk it up to this game being the poorest designed in the franchise.
I did mention exactly this (5:13). The random death is caused by the crystals exploding and means you took too long to get over to them. You need to find a way to charge each crystal faster by keeping guardians off of it better or by killing them faster, otherwise you're gonna have to multi-task them which really isn't ideal, but can be a solution. Keep an eye on the other two while you're charging one. If at any point they start to get close to empty while you're still on the first, then you're gonna need to try and charge them back up. If you're multitasking all 3 though, you might as well reset as that's incredibly difficult to do solo. Even 2 at a time is somewhat difficult solo, but can be done. Once you get the hang of charging them, though, it's a breeze to do in subsequent runs. If you're playing anyone other than Amara, I highly recommend looking into a pet build to draw aggro off the crystal and if you are Amara, then tactical use of phasegrasp can also help a hell of a lot.

That thing was a life changer lol. I've used it in every run since.

sandhawk is also good, but it chews ammo like crazy.
Good for mass mob takedowns or getting out of FFYL.
Just get a shock and corrosive one.
Can't forget Fl4k practically being able to ignore the crystal sections with red fang.

So there's no point in running true takedown mode unless you want a more challenging run? Do you even get more experience for killing enemies?
Nope, at least not to my knowledge. It is 100% just a pure challenge mode.
