Fun fact: Sanji’s voice for the 4kids dub was gonna be more like his voice from the regular dub, but the voice actor was told by the producers to do a goofy voice for some reason and he just complied with the request.
I know people love pointing out the lollypop but I think its worse what they renamed all of Sanjis attack's to, his kicks are called the equivalent of "hamburger cheeseburger big mac whopper".
I think everyone tends to forget that the problem with this dub was right there in the production company's name. They dubbed the show FOR KIDS, especially for broadcast network Saturday Mornings that had the highest meddling from network censors possible. Also, this was at a time when CN was pulling/editing Tom and Jerry cartoons where any of the characters were smoking. I blame those bad "Truth" commercials that falsely stated that Jim Henson got money from the tobacco industry because a human biker in the background of a sleazy bar was smoking in The Muppet Movie.
I'm going to get hate for this, but I don't think that the lollipop is really that bad. I don't understand why people say a cigarette is cool and a lollipop isn't? Have you seen Kojack? He made lollipops cool
