Welcome to hidden MMR that devs insist on shoving into their game at one point or another. And all the casual or even just relatively unskilled gold or plat and below don't notice. Makes it take forever to rank because if you start low and you're good, then suddenly you're gold but matched with diamonds or weak masters etc. Yet still have to climb thru gold.

I just checked my stats in ranked and season 17 ranked: 400 games, 14 top 1, 59 top 5 i got plat III season 18 ranked: 400 games, 20 top 1, 79 top 5 im only silver I im never been trying this hard on apex i already played more ranked games than last season but its so hard to get points i just did a top 1 and got 170pts
This hidden skill rating in ranked matchmaking makes absolutely 0 sense. They’re pretty much giving you a rating and matching you accordingly regardless of your actual “ranked level/tier”. It might as well be pubs. The whole point of having a “rank” is to see where you stand against others of that rank… there should not be a second hidden rating, it nullifies the whole system.
The supposed "fix" was to just implement sbmm into ranked and make ur rank worthless. The lobbies you get put into are based on ur sbmm and not ur rank so idk what the point of your rank is.

After reset ranked system is not playable without premade lobbies. There is a lot of randoms which are acting like NPC's. It's terrible how ranked experience go down (at least in my opinion). Yesterday finally i met 2 random guys, where we win 3 games in row and lobby was not so bad also with Masters and Preds. After this 3 games i get another randoms which were new to game XDD So please be aware of playing this game like that. I don't even complain anymore this is Respawn Enterteiment - don't care.

It is beginning of season, it’s always like this. I reached gold lobbies last week and according to playerbase I was top 1.8% of concurrent ranked players. If you are top 2%, you will play against strong players obviously, regardless of what rank we are at. As the season goes, the top players will climb to diamond and master, and the gold lobbies will feel more and more like a real gold lobby. Everyone is cramped up between gold 1 and rookie 4, so gold is diamond/master level right now. To give perspective, Mande finished his provisional matches with a silver 2 rank. So like the rest of us, he has to climb through gold.
Listen i drop 10 kills as silver 2 with a win and only got around 252 points like i was so mad and lowkey lost motivation to push aggro half of the game

I've been Gold 1 for a bit. teammates are either competent vets or don't know what left click is. It feels better than last season where everything was free, but not what ranked should be. queue times have been really bad after 11pm, too. 7 minutes last night for one match that ended almost instantly after my teammates went down.

just an fyi. for a myriad of reasons, gold+ is the top 6% of the overall ranked player base. maybe a reason why its been taking so long for a lot of previous dia/master/pred players to climb out of it. for reference plat+ is the TOP 1.5% of the game. absolutely nuts. Edit: I was in gold when I typed this and am now in plat+. it took mere days to get to gold and weeks to climb out. idk if this is a good thing for a ranked system since i've never seen a rank like gold take that long in any other game. but i think this is actually ok? gold/plat is normally the avg and above avg ranks but with a BR shouldn't it be the lowest ranks where the avg player base is? rookie 4 through silver 1 make up 90% of the player base in ranked, but maybe thats not a bad thing?
@@anthonyvega155 basically its like the same as s17's ranked system except theres a higher entry cost and overall less points for placement but kills and other bonuses like the "skill" bonus award higher points now and its 1000rp to go from gold 4 to gold 3 however when you get to diamond there is an even higher entry cost. so its basically s17 with less placement points, more kill points and other bonus points with higher entry cost but hidden mmr overrides your rank so you could be in braknze but be put in pred lobbies if your mmr ks super high
I doubt the RP/LP/whatever even matters. Respawn said that if your hidden MMR is higher than your LP then you will get matched using MMR. This begs the question - why are there two ratings to begin with and why is one of them hidden? It's just convoluted and dumb as hell. Just hire a math prof. instead of whatever diversity hire is working on ranked right now and let them figure out a system that isn't cringe. Hell, it's not just ranked that is screwed. I had a real good day (or got matched with bots) while playing with friends a while ago and apparently boosted my unraked MMR through the roof. Glad I uninstalled this terrible game. I wish we could all just stop playing games that do dumb things repeatedly so maybe companies will begin to ACTUALLY fix them. Its upsetting seeing the game get worse and worse every season, my favorite season was season 8 when I started playing and I hear the game was even better before then. Sadly this game keeps getting worse and I havent hardly played since season 8. Very sadly its every competitive game company doing this stupid shit and ruining gaming, I hardly play games anymore because they are all just terrible and all about running peoples pockets rather than making actual fun games. Saddest of all, making a fun competitive game is actually quite simple with a good foundation (which most of these games nowadays have great potential actually) and even I could tell you exactly how to make a good ranked system, a good matchmaking system and best of all a good game, but instead lets just ruin games for more money oh well.
