Chicago fan here, you're not off about the vibes being awful. I find myself watching every game from a standpoint of "is this young player improving", "did Bedsy get a point", etc. We're in that stage right now where the only way we get "right now" talent while our young studs develop is by signing players from free agency. The players we signed last year seem to know they're not here for the long haul and are very hot/cold and don't seem to be interested in building the team into anything because why would they? I imagine most of them will be dealt at the deadline if we're able. Our goaltending is wildly inconsistent with Mrazek being one of the most on or off goalies I remember watching personally, Soderblom has made strides BY MILES from where he was last year but when we give up 30-40 high danger shots a game like how much can he really do. Seth Jones is a problem that we seem to be stuck with because who is going to take that contract. It's a mess right now. The kids we have in Rockford are all very promising so far. Nazar has been meeting my expectations, Korchinski is ready but we need to offload a veteren for him to come up. Don't think any fan I know is really expecting good or hopeful things for at least another 2-3 years. Bedard can only do so much by himself.
The winter classic is spent. This iteration was an abomination. Can’t wait until every hockey media source has moved past it. Can we please do more exciting teams if it’s going to consume sports media for two weeks? Thanks peeps
