Just placed an order on the Varjo Aero, will be most interesting to try it out! Since I couldn't find any base stations in stock locally and with Varjo adding $100+ on the normal price, I decided to order from SteamVR directly and their Valve Index Base Stations. Got it confirmed from Varjo these will work fine with the Aero. Since these were much cheaper than getting the base stations from Varjo, I decided to get two. Better be safe than sorry! I also treated myself with a pair of Valve Index Controllers to be able to enjoy not only MSFS but also some other titles such as Half-Life: Alyx. So, with this I should be well prepared for the fall and winter 🙂
@ fantastic, would love your feedback once you’ve tried it out 👍

@@SimHangerFS Will try to remember, very much looking forward to trying it out! The thing with VR as we all know is how it's very hard to tell people what it's like. Both VR in general when comparing to 2D but also the clarity comparing different headsets etc. You really do need to try it out yourself.
Another great video Mark, you’ve certainly convinced me, so I will be replacing my reverb g2. I don’t fly any other way than in VR these days. Like you I will have to do some serious saving up.
Nice video. I'll stick to my G2 for now but I really hope this will push the technology in the right direction. Can't wait to play MSFS with best graphics settings in a heaset like this.
I Really appreciate your content, thank you. I admire your attention, care and professionalism. Great stuff. Hope many RUclips can learn from your Style.
Once I woke up from my faint at hearing the price, I burst into bitter tears. With the Australia tax that means around AUD4,000.00. My wife wouldn't just murder me. She'd disassemble me into individual sub-atomic particles. 😭
Hi Mark ok now I know I did not get a base station no one on RUclips did mention anything about base station. coming from Reverb G2 to the Arjo did not know I should buy a base station for the headset to work. This might need to be added in future education videos. Cheers
Wonder if they have a program to test this device before making the final decision. I came from 1st and now working with 2nd generation VR with Pimax. I want to make sure this “3rd”. Generation in reality is real and covering the expectations this time.
A fantastic review - many thanks Mark! I'm very happy with how the Quest 2 software/runtime recently improved and thanks to MSFS Sim Update 6 and my rtx3080 I can now enjoy FS with a 1.7 super-sampled resolution and it's awesome. However THIS ONE keeps me dreaming of more.... Similar to you, I'll have to wait and save to afford it, hopefully I get there mid-2022!
About time you got your hands on one Mark. Enjoyed your review and have sold my G2 to my son already. My Aero shoud arrive sometime Q1 next year and I cannot wait. Hopefully you will get time to post some more content soon before you have to give it back.
My graphics cards normally last me 5 years. Both oculus headset I’ve owned CV1 and Rift S didn’t even last over 2 years with very moderate use and that’s my biggest concern. I don’t want to pay so much for something that may potentially fail after a year or 2. The second one is tracking? I mean for this price the headset doesn’t even have its own camera tracking? I have no place for external trackers and I don’t want them either, so this is another dealbreaker. I guess I’m gonna stick with reverb for now.
Yeah VR is developing rapidly, glasses are pretty outdated quickly. This is a positive development, but indeed 2500 euro is a lot of money knowing that in two years there probably are better headsets. But yeah I am an extreme VR enthusiast, still considering it....
Another great review Mark ..thanks 👍😀 Almost (but not quite) as enthusiastic as Steve! 😂. Certainly looks like a fantastic piece of kit and its something to consider yes but im afraid, like yourself ..ive to save up or sell something 😂
Brilliant Mark, loved your feedback and it's good to get different people's views. One question when you said Varjo is 'working on this right now' 13:25, were you talking about Varjo's support for MSFS or just the OpenVR/Steam integration in general. Thanks, Mark!
The G2 is perfectly fine (for me) since I only paid $450 on sale. There are to many negatives with the Varjo for the money: High price, low FOV, no included tracking, LCD screen, no OpenXR support-just promises. The Varjo needs to have built in camera with hand tracking, higher FOV, OLED screen, at a minimum. I know it is not feasible for a company this size to do it.
Thank you very much for your review ! I’ve ordered the headset, but it’s still 3-4 months away. So probably and hopefully when you will order your one, we’ll get it simultaneously)
I think it is great. Your comparison to graphic cards prices was perfect. It is the cost of getting the best today. I ordered mine as soon as it went on sale.
It looks like an amazing product, well fleshed out. Very happy to see that there are companies developing on the high end side of the market as well besides those focussing on the portability of VR with standalones (which is important for improving VR acceptence as well btw). I will very likely get an Aero myself, it would be nice if the GPU pricing would calm down a tad so that buying a suitable GPU vor the Aero is slightly less ridiculous.
Great video as always! While tempting to buy one, years in tech have taught me not to (always) overspend on the first of a generation. Micro Led will make its way to more manufacturers and the prices will drop as the selection of devices grows. I'm going to give it 6 months to see what the VR world is brewing as a result of this amazing product 😊
Great video as always. I envy you, Steve and Seb who all have this Verjo Aero. I'm convinced now for the 3rd time I need this Varjo Aero in my life ASAP. But like you I don't have that amount of money to spend today and on top of that all I need to replace my AMD GPU with and RTX 3090 or better + base station. I only use VR in MSFS2020 so is it possible getting it to work without the controllers? Just one base station and I'm ok?
I have ordered one of these and i have 6900xt. There is some good evidence that it does work with AMD graphics cards. I'll wait to get my pimax 8kx purchase price off of the pimax Reality 12k qled and get the aero 35ppd AND up to 240° fov simultaneously with the 12k and so much more (best of both aspheric and fresnel lenses combined, wireless, standalone, hands/lips/eyes/ body tracking, index like audio etc.. more than satisfied with the 8kx in the interim, especially with sharpening added with the free fsr mod with no impact on performance which work with dcs and il-2 and many other games.. the 12k promises to offer so much more for the price than the aero.. with the 8kx discount I'll get the 12k for around only $1000..a real bargain for what is promised and the wait will be worth it to me- don't feel the need to get the aero at its price tag just for a year or less and then need to sell it for the 12k as I don't want to compromise on fov and also having a 2080ti I'd rather invest first in a better gpu
No linux drivers, use index controllers for best effect, it comes with in ear plugs and mic, very affordable if you are a business or buy it instead of triple projectors for your flight sim pit. It's a business HMD which consumers can buy too.

Hi . I have G2 now but how does varjo work with FS2020 ? I have fs2020 with Microsoft store. How does it interact with steam VR ? Do you need to buy msfs2020 in steam? I cant start msfs2020 from steam from my G2 ...
Thanks...
It works with both versions of MSFS! Check out my next video out later today for more detail.
Isn't it just a different marketing channel? I belive the sim itself is the same.
@@terhohalme yes, an u[grade in effect.
Will I need one or two base station?
One if seated, two recommended.

Bings XTRAL3, picks up a different hobby for now...
Thanks for the honest comments. I will bee saving along with others no doubt.
2000 Euros. No thanks. Happy with my G2
its ok saying its a game changer but at that price you may aswell have a price is no object aproach and then you are into even better vr headset terotory every one givingt his headset hype yet the price is allmost out of touch for many people so in reality its only a game changer for the rich at that point it may aswell not even be talked about is it 1500 usd better than the g2 thats the question and probably more than that if you add in the stations and the sound ?????
Fair comment. 👍
Does it work on the xbox? 🙂
Unfortunately no VR available on Xbox….at this stage.
Black Friday sale 990€
My poor future wallet 😰
😂
All this talk and not one single mention of the fov???
I discuss the fov in my follow up video ruclips.net/video/DoL64liDh8s/видео.html
Revolutionize reality with the exact same elements and patterns as before, how pretentiously idiotic and arrogant of their marketing.
Q: Linux support? Hand controllers? Audio headphones? Microphone? Affordable?
A: Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.
It doesn't even have headlights and you cannot use it under the water.
No linux drivers, use index controllers for best effect, it comes with in ear plugs and mic, very affordable if you are a business or buy it instead of triple projectors for your flight sim pit. It's a business HMD which consumers can buy too.
