One of my good buddies who is now an SF officer trained for close to 6 months for this competition along with another Soldier who was a previous winner. They didn't make it out of the first day. He said it's the hardest thing physically he's ever done and still says that even after he went through the SF pipeline. Hats off to each competitor, this is a hard event!
I'm loving these videos as a Brit, they give a great glimpse into the US military and just how well drilled, professional, and determined you guys are. I'd never join the military myself, but seeing how hard these guys push themselves is inspiring. On a side note, I'd love to see how our SAS/SBS guys do in something like this. Much love from across the pond!
SAS are some world class soldiers!! I was in the 75th Ranger Regiment Bravo Company 3rd Battalion and did a couple missions with SAS. They are damn good fighting men!! But I honestly believe Ranger Regiment are just as good if not better in certain areas

I was in the US Army, not a Ranger but I was Air Defense Artillery and I worked with these guys. Interesting story, I was in Hooters in Tampa watching the Jets play the Steelers during the AFC Championship game I think in 2011. Anyway, I am a die hard Jets fan and some guy was across from me in the bar rooting for the Steelers. The whole night he and I were jawing at each other in a somewhat friendly manner but honestly, if we got into a fight I didn't like my chances. Anyway the night ended, the Jets lost and when I arrived at work the next day and we were to be meeting with some US Army Rangers to do some field testing on some new equipment. We headed to the range and the Ranger that was assigned to me for these tests was the guy from the bar the night before. We laughed about it and that night we all went out to the same bar and drank together. This time, a bit more friendlier to one another! As I said, if we had gotten into a fight I didn't like my chances.
I wish I could have had the oppurtunity to go to ranger school and then comepete in this. Salute to thesde guys, this is def not easy even if you are in amazing shape.
A JO and enlisted guy competing as a team makes me genuinely happy. Seems like spec war and aviation are the 2 communities where technical skill/competence are valued over rank.
Man, did a similar type competition when I was in the service, though nowhere near this much, but anything requiring you pull yourself up became brutal the further in on the course. I could identify with the part @6:45 where the tired arm strength makes you unsure when trying to navigate that type of obstacle. Ah, good times though.
The 75th should be the most high speed team considering their continual active status. They probably would get some heat for losing especially since I'm pretty sure they got put in special active status. Respect to all the units and teams that participates in this event, takes a special breed to even finish let alone win/dominate.

These are not all “army rangers” who compete in this competition. To those who aren’t in the military this may seem like a distinction without a difference but these are Ranger qualified soldiers, meaning they completed the Ranger School and earned a Ranger tab, they are not necessarily in the 75th Ranger Regiment, aka Rangers. I know the video briefly covers this, but the video title is misleading. A lot of retired guys with ranger tabs allow themselves to be called “Rangers” without correcting people, and for those of us that were in regiment, it’s a little annoying.
Being best Ranger or having a competition is nice to have, but in the end when it comes down to a military operation or hell getting shot at and having artillery explode around you, teamwork gets you back home alive. Having the best equipment, body armor, and vehicles out there is wonderful, but without teamwork and performing your duties, you might not be going home.
You can't do a bunch of pt before this. You need to build your endurance and quit a few days before this. Let everything heal and you won't get muscle failure
Best of luck young man!! Piece of advice?? No matter how hard it gets or how hungry and tired you are just don't quit. The Ranger Cadre don't expect everyone to do everything perfect. They just want to see you try your best and not give up. If they see you giving it everything you have and you refuse to give up you should be just fine!!

In 2011 I moved on from ranger batt and made it into CAG/Delta Force, helping end WW3.
