- We needed to move our Freeman 23 Marji Bee in Lechlade Marina due to regular residents craning in, but the manoeuvre was made all the more difficult due to the tight space and a keen wind. Did we manage it? Of course se did! Hopefully we'll soon be out on the River Thames enjoying ourselves.
All heading in the right direction, Will. Great seeing all four of you the other day. 👍🏼 🥰
Thanks Annie. We’ll be out together in the water before you know it I’m sure. Just ignore the rain in the forecast! 🙈😂
Olivier.
Thank you again for your kind words Olivier. Patience and preparation made it a success. We will have some footage of us going further than one pontoon to another pontoon soon I hope!
Any day on the water is a good day mate
You’re absolutely right. It’s all good for the mind and soul! 👍🏻😊
Good morning.
What a pleasure to see your boat out of this winter. It is true that the captain was anxious but make no mistake, we are all anxious and I can tell you that I am less phlegmatic than you.
Friendly JP (Freeman Cruisers Channel)
We’re getting there. I’m hoping that a bit of decent weather is just around the corner! 🤞🏻
It dosent matter how many points turn you make as long as you dont hit anything or go ground. Well done in a tight space with a stiff wind.
You’re right, and we didn’t touch anything else! Petra was up on the bow just in case we needed to fend off, but she wasn’t needed. Hopefully I’ll not need to do an 18 point turn again though! 🙈😂
With a shaft drive, you don't need to turn the rudder when going astern. Just leave it in the position you need for going ahead. Makes life easier!! You only have steerage when the prop is pushing water over the rudder!
With larger boats I would whole heartedly agree, however the lightweight nature, design , and large rudder of the Freeman does mean it makes a small difference when you are actually moving. Normally I’d keep the wheel stationary, but I needed all the help I could get here (you’ll notice I only started wheeling in reverse at the end! 😉)
Nice video Will, glad to see you using spring lines on the pontoon. They are common practice in coastal marinas but seem rare on inland berths
Thank you, and love the fact that little details like the spring lines are appreciated! 👍🏻 I’ll always take the option to use them if convenient cleats are available as it makes for a much more stable berth. Don’t really get the opportunity with bank mooring as we only have two mooring pins ☹️
@@riverthamesboating I notice the little things 🤦♂️
Obviously not appropriate for your walkways but, if you want an amazing wax for the rest of the topsides (and hull), try Meguires Premium Marine Wax. It was recommended to me this year and it’s absolutely amazing. Water just beads off it, even 2 months later. I may even start using it on our cars but @£30/bottle it is 3x the price of top automotive waxes 😬
Polishing and waxing is definitely on the list when the weather dries up a bit. Will consider the recommendation for sure once I’ve saved up! 👍🏻😂
Another great video, thank you. where did you get your USB socket panel from?
Thank you!
The USB sockets came from Amazon. I picked up a fair few of my wiring components from there. Here’s a link 😊

Hi mate. Recently found your channel and subbed. Enjoying your videos. I'm hoping to buy a cruiser soon for next year.
Struggling to find GRP channels on RUclips. Can you recommend any..? Particularly live aboards. Thanks
I don’t think there are many GRP cruiser channels. I guess as they are generally more of a leisure craft than a live-aboard option. With so many narrow boat live aboard, that’s why there’s so many channels for them; they get opportunities every day to film content whereas for us it’s only when we get out on the river!
Good luck with your search too 🤞🏻😉
