To correct the fact; Cocos Malay language is not a former of Bahasa Indonesia. Cocos Malay is root from Malay language, same like Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malaysia/Melayu in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei roots from Malay language which is lingua franca of Malay archipelago. However each countries/regions develop their own Malay dialects and even every villages, towns, cities, states in Malaysia, Southern Thailand, Southern Philippines, Malay Champ in Cambodia & Vietnam, Malay Myanmar, Singapore, Brunei, Malay Sri Lanka, Malay South Africa, Suriname and Indonesia have their own Malay dialects included in Cocos Keeling Island and Christmas Island in Australia.

It is where they dump all those people pretending to be refugees, jumping queue to find job in Australia. Using South East Asia as transit, thank God Australia close their border. No more arab, iranians, afghani on streets in Malaysia & Indonesia, waiting for boat to "better life" in Australia.
They want to end up in places like Australia & Canada to reap the social benefits. Pretending to be running away from war, what war??

Cocos Malay is NOT a form of Bahasa Indonesia. It is a form of Bahasa Melayu or Malay language. Bahasa Indonesia itself is a form or a dialect that has its roots in the Malay language. The fact is, the Cocos Malays population are mostly found in Malaysia, and then only Cocos Island. You would never say New Zealand English is a form of 'Australian language', wouldn't you?

too many cultures. It can't be a melting pot if they're distinct cultures. The human settlement of Christmas Island had its origins in 1887, when a small party of British explorers made their way through dense jungle and collected rock specimens of almost pure phosphate of lime. The discovery of phosphate guided the island's destiny for the next century
