Sure it plays into the overused "vaporwave aesthetic" theme, but you're ignoring the fact that many of the influences for vaporwave came from this style of animation...

This video is what introduced me to jack stauber, so if you hadn't made it I probably never would have encountered his video. I honesly thought this was an official music video because it fits the energy so well. I was obsessed with this when I first saw it and watched it repeatedly, hummed the song and associated these vaporwave visuals with it, with all the old software references and stuff.
I am really glad he let you use this song, I really really like what you made. I hope he lets you do more stuff like this if you feel creatively inspired to do more.

So somehow the girl's parents passed away. (1:12 shows 2 frames of pictures with black ribbon at the top; that's a Korean way of indicating if a person passed away)
And then she got adopted somewhere (maybe her relatives?)
She can't blend in, and her step-brother ends up killing her hamster and secretly throws the dead hamster away in trash.
She snaps, bashes the kid in, and starts her twisted life.
It also seems like she somehow got into school later on.
She met some good friends, but lost both of them (one of them fell to death, and the other seemed to have killed herself due to stress of being forced to become #1).

AWESOME ANIMATION! Style, color palette and especially timing are so nice!
This video changed my life. It introduced me to jack stauber, which got me into indie music. After becoming more open to lesser known artists, I soon got into Tally Hall and Lemon Demon. Lemon Demon ended up getting me into a fanbase (I wont specify what fanbase because its kinda embarressing) that defined my entire year. In turn I started using tumblr (yes, the hellsite) which suprisingly made me feel alot happier and less alone in these strange times. That fanbase ended up getting me into Will Wood as well, whos music is some of the best ive ever heard. All in all, thus video was the thing that started my decade. Thank you.

At 1:16 You can see it near the bottom right of the screen. A little grey animal, possibly a hamster and the orange splash that might be it's blood. If you look close you can see a hamster wheel, a little dripping hamster water bottle, and a little bowl. The frame right after it we see a mound of dirt, sunflower seeds, (or some other kind of seed) and a piece of wood. My guess is this frame is a grave for the dead animal. The mound is the buried body, the piece of wood is to mark the grave like a make-shift grave stone, and the seeds are what the animal or pet used to eat. Hamsters also do eat sunflower seeds, so they may be some sort of offering to the grave like how people leave flowers on graves.
The frame after that is the black haired girl standing over the blue haired kid with her fist balled up like that Arthur meme from awhile back. You can tell it's the black haired girl because she's wearing the same outfit she was when she found the dead hamster (black shorts, blue top, with white sleeves). Now because it reminds me so much of the Arthur meme, this might be her confronting the blue haired kid in an aggressive way for killing her hamster. The blue haired kid also doesn't look happy, so this doesn't seem like a friendly interaction.
Finally we see a pair of feet in the middle of walking. Then the black haired girl taking a hamster cage, like the one we saw before, over her head and throwing it. She either kills the blue haired kid's hamster as revenge for him killing her's, or maybe she was the one who killed her own hamster. I think it's safe to say she's killing the blue haired kid's hamster.
From what I can tell, it's really just her hitting said kid with her (now empty) hamster cage, assaulting him as revenge for the death of her hamster; it's unlikely he died, g given their respective ages and the make of the cage, but he probably would've been hospitalized.
@@ximduleeludmix5389 That's a good catch, but why would she carry her hamster cage to blue haired kid's house? That's why I thought the blue haired kid had his own hamster cage and she was throwing that to kill his hamster or hurt the kid.

@@RaeKobi that would make sense. That would also support the other guy's theory that she's throwing her empty hamster cage at him.
From what I’m getting of the video, the girl in the video after having had the traumatic event of her hamster getting killed by the kid and taking out her aggression in such a violent way, went down a very dark path in life probably becoming more of a ruffian and losing most of her friends as a result.
