The songs based on a criminal case study of a fictional girl called purity who was buried alive.
Of course its used metaphorically to talk about the feeling of being trapped in your own body and mind unable to escape, with those dark emotions taking away your purity. Song is dark as fuck and easily my favourite ever slipknot song.
You're gonna love "Custer", and "Orphan". Newer tracks, but they hit soooo damn hard.

Fun fact, that intro is called “Frail Limbs Nursery,” which samples a piece of the video from the “case” then goes into Purity. Frail limbs nursery was not included on the rerelease even though purity was.

I still have the original version with these two songs (FLN/purity) on it. My first one got stolen and I was pissed cuz u couldn’t get it anymore, but around 2008 or so I found the original version randomly at a book store for $30 and got it. I didn’t even open it.
After learning what this song was actually written for, it’s quite the cloud when it plays. The coworkers don’t get it, but I watched the movie this song is about.
It’s hard to think about for sure.
Some people in this world truly deserve awful things.
Josh Brainard played guitar on most of this album but Jim plays on Purity and Me Inside. Josh left some time while they were in the middle of making this album
So glad to see Slipknot on the channel again!! Still need to do 'No Life' and 'Only One' both from the first album and are criminally underrated and do not get near the recognition they deserve.

Nah you're right. The girl in the story was buried alive. They were actually stopped from putting this song on their album because someone sued them thinking that Corey stole the story from them. The band wasn't able to put the song out until the disasterpiece DVD officially.
