This song has an Opeth feel to it that I quite adore.
Rhythm guitar is quite similar to some of their newer stuff.

Katatonia is in business before Opeth and Akerfeldt actually recorded brave murder day vocals (except for 'day') because Jonas was having problems with his throat.
I lost my cousin last month to PTSD. Army Vet. Tours in the MIddle East. Commited suicide. Left behind a wife and 2 boys, 6 and 2 yrs. old. He was 30 years old. His wife is a wreck. I can't even imagine what that's like. Enjoy this song and give Angie, Mason and Hunter your thoughts and prayers. Thank you Katatonia for a wonderful song and an even more wonderful video, as sad as it is. THANK YOU. It helps us heal.
CBM after my own ptsd I never thought that someone even my family will grief, but few new moments in my life gave me a new hope - 2 jobs, theatre- making shows in new cities gave me hope for the future. And now I can proudly say - don't want to go back to war, to anti-terroristic operation in west Ukraine. Stay united and strong. We care, there's a lots of great thing out there, just don' lock yourself.

Interesting how the lyrics hint an apocalyptic disaster; shifting earth hence earthquake, clouds (of dust?) at our feet and the sun being turned into a jewel (diamond), that happens to stars after they explode and die. Our sun one day will do so too

Can someone please tell me what the piano melody at 1:55 reminds me of? It is exactly the same as some other song, which is also played on a piano with a female vocalist i think. Pretty sure it has been used in some movie trailers or something. I was thinking aurora, but i am not sure.

At the very beginning, when the piano starts to ascend back upward, on the 4th note there is a change in the tone of the piano. I wonder if this is simply from pressing the keys lighter? It seems too much of a "shift" ;) in tone from just a change in velocity/pressure on the keys...

I was excited when I heard that Katatonia has a new music video, and I like Shifts... but I was disappointed about this video. I was hoping to see the band in it.
Is it as simple as her husband went to war and died and now she's all alone and suffering? Or am I missing something?

headknocker2020, that’s cool you enjoy the album. Unfortunately, for me, I just couldn’t get into it like I normally would for Katatonia. I just didn’t think it made much sense to incorporate more progressive elements. I also couldn’t connect with some of the songs.
She needs some nitrile or latex gloves for that kind of work. Her employers should provide them.

Stop comparing Katatonia and Opeth, both are great bands, the difference is that Katatonia still keep the emotion and honesty, Opeth had become a mainstream band using the same formula in the last albums. Of course I love Opeth, but maybe until WATERSHED. By the way, Katatonia and ANATHEMA, best examples of evolution without selling their souls.

Well this does remind of Damnation meets Heritage a bit, with a classical Katatonia twist.
I don't think it's anything bad, those references are quite subtle though.

When you realize what this song is saying it hits so much harder. I am aware the video gives a good hint but still this song along with all of their songs are amazing 👏 my favorite band by far. I loved opeth up until they changed their style but I can say that katatonia has by far been my favorite band since I can recall and they've never let me down they've only gotten better. I am dying to hear the new album. Please if there is a God let me meet them before I die.
