    Ultrasonic cleaning really goes a long way to get those necks and pockets clean. Best thing I have found to aid in uniforming neck tension and primer seating. I know how you like to experiment Vaughn so if you wanna try something different, try a cup or even two cups of super clean like what you buy in the automotive detail section of Walmart. I am amazed by how much it dissolves carbon. Great video, even after 5 years 👍

    Agreed . Ultrasonic wet cleaning is the way to go .
    I can’t understand why more people haven’t switched to it .

    Just curious....what purpose does the salt provide? The only thing I can think of is MAYBE it may neutralize the pH of the solution since the vinegar is acidic. My limited knowledge of chemistry knows that a salt is produced when a strong acid and base is mixed. So...I'm not sure. Anyone else know?

    I've been watching your videos for a couple of weeks now, and have learned a lot. I shoot black powder cartridges, too, and I bet this combination of ingredients would work well on it, as well.
    Thanks!

      I've never tried it on Black Powder but I suspect it will work just as well. Do me a favor, give it a try and let me know!! Thanks for watching!

    If you use vinegar, it’s better to rinse the cases with baking soda to neutralize the effect vinegar acid which at the end destroys brass. Indeed, it breaks the chemical link between copper and zinc that makes brass.
    If you use citric acid instead, this will not break the alloy.

    Nice video. Try citric acid though. It'd be done even quicker. Two teaspoons per 25 pieces of brass. One cycle and you'll be done

      Interesting, that's the first I've heard of this! I'll give that a try and do an update on the video if I have any luck at all using it! I assume you use this as well.?

      Vaughn Precision it's what a lot of us reloaders do here in the UK. Check out my video on cleaning brass: ruclips.net/video/GHjSt5HogGs/видео.html

      Vaughn Precision add a pinch of lemi shine (citric acid) or just use lemon juice in place of vinegar. it works great even just shaking brass in a container and letting it set for an hour or two.

    If you deprime your brass before you clean, don’t you run the risk of damaging your dies? With dirty cases? Sorry newb reloaded here, don’t want to break my new dies:)

    • @vaughnprecision
      @vaughnprecision  6 лет назад +2

      Gavin Harrower I often use just a De-Priming die. This allows me to just knock the primers out so I can clean the brass before putting it in to my sizing dies. No, running them through dies won’t hurt anything as long as you keep the dies cleaned out often..!

    Have you ever used this same solution for cleaning your gun parts or only brass?

      Ron Rosenow I've used it for gun parts to. But I've had it damage the bluing on some parts. Anything stainless works great.
