This is the best review I’ve seen on RUclips. Well-prepared, to the point and very useful, accurate information. Thanks very much. Good luck with your channel!
Hahahaha oh man, I think the same thing! I'm putting everyone to sleep.I feel like I'm yelling In all my videos, so I tried to tone it down a bit, but probably went way to far in the other direction.
Awesome review! I've been looking at this gimbal for a few weeks now.... and your review has been the best by far! I'm looking for a great smooth gimbal for the iPhone 13 Pro Max and GoPro Hero10. I would like to be able to power either one on/off remotely. Is this gimbal capable of doing so? Also, I do want that buttery smooth action therefore, other than the G6 Max, what would be your suggestion for a step up? Thanks again, Great job!! 😊👍
Thank you! This gimbal can not power up your cameras. It can start and stop video and change some settings once the cameras have been powered up manually. I have not used any other mobile friendly gimbals. The newest DJI phone gimbal looks pretty cool, with the ability to follow the subject. The only thing, is I don't believe they include a mount that will all a GoPro to be attached to it. But, with the Hero 10's stabilization, I would almost say, you don't even need a gimbal with that camera.
@@austinlindsay Thank you for your help Austin! Start/Stop would be great in regards to control. I totally agree, the GoPro Hero10 does have awesome stabilization. My main purpose for a gimbal for the Hero10 is the use of ND filters. The in camera stabilization is mainly dependent on how much light hits the lens. Some reviews have indicated that jitter is introduced when using ND filters therefore, it best to turn stabilization off. Thanks again, appreciate your help. 😊👍
I have that exact same camera setup. I even have a cage on my camera and this gimbal flies it perfectly. If you start getting heavier lenses, the Ronin SC would be a great next step up from this if you have the money.
Great review - can you tell me how you access the Feiyu phone app so I can us the tracking feature? I have the Feiyu ON App but there doesn’t seem to be an option for it to control the phone's camera I seem only to be able to use the phone's camera app (Huawei P20). Thanks!
You’ll want to download the Feiyu tech app, then connect your phone to the gimbal via Bluetooth, then use the camera within the Feiyu tech app. That at least how I found the best results filming with my iPhone.
How you set up G6 Max gimbal with Gopro 8. I can do the balance but can not use function video/photo to control gopro. Can you advise me step by step. I can do that with Sony Rx100 Vii, iphone. but can not with Gopro. Also I can not update software from Feiyu on app. Can we do that from computer to gimbal?
Hey hey! The only way I know to update the G6 is to use the app. Also, I was looking in the app to try an help answer your question, but I'm not seeing that GoPro 8 is an option to connect. So, I'm wondering if FeiyuTech is not supporting that camera quite yet. The best advice I can give is contact their customer service and see if they will support the GoPro 8 in the future.
Great video! After I carefully balance my G6 Max then turn it on, the camera slowly tilts (drifts) to the left and stays there. If I correct it in the app, the camera stays level for only a few seconds then starts to drift again. Have you experienced this? Thanks again for this excellent video.
The first thing I'd check is to make sure it's evenly balanced on all the axis. it could be you're too heavy on one side. You can also try putting it on just HF mode and see if it helps. Sometimes if you're on the all follow mode, holding your hand at an angle can make the gimbal drift. Since it's technically following the minute angle of your hand or wrist. Also, it's a good idea to double check your firmware is up to date, just in case there are any bugs. Hope that helps.
@@austinlindsay Excellent suggestions. I never thought of updating the software. Brilliant! Seems to make a big difference. Thanks very much and keep up the good work.
I don’t have the answer to that question. I have not tested mine to the point of failure. Feiyu tech’s customer support may be able to better answer that. I have, at work, a 4 year old gimbal that is going strong, so I suspect this should last the same, but I expect longer.
There's a Feiyu ON app to download. You'll want to pair the gimbal and phone via bluetooth, then you use the built in camera within the Feiyu ON app, to take photos and videos.
Great review and extremely informative. I'm upgrading from the FeiyuTech G6 Brushless to the FeiyuTech G6 Max because I'm looking for something that will accommodate both my GoPro Hero 7 and my cell phone to capture video footage. Plus having one with gimbal gear locks is needed when storing and traveling. Your video review helped tremendously! Which GoPro did you use in this review and secondly, with this being one year later are you still getting a lot of good use out of the G6 Max? Thanks again for your review.
Hey thank you! Yea, the motor locks are extremely useful. I used a Hero 5. But, it'll handle any gopro just fine. And, after a year. It's still just as awesome and as useful as day 1. :)
@@austinlindsay Your welcome! That's good to hear that it also has some longevity. I just got mine in last week. I'm sure it will enhance my video capabilities to the next level. I haven't used it in the field yet but I will on my next trip. Thanks again for your in depth review!
In inverted mode or underslung is the go pro upside down or the right way up? So many people are recommending the crane M2, I have no idea why because this is lighter and it can hold a lot more weight
I've not been able to get it to do a proper underslung mode. The motors don't have enough rotation in them for the handle to sit full vertical AND keep the camera stabilized during movement. You can get some amazing angles, (and the GoPro or whatever you have mounted) will stay upright. But from my testing I would say that this does not do underslung mode.
My Feiyutech G6Max suddenly won't power on. But if I connect to a power bank or on a wall charger it will power on, and it will turn off if ai disconnect from the power bank or wall charger. In short, it won't power on by itself using it's own battery on the gimbal. Is there any way I can fix this one? :(
It’s seeming like your internal battery might be defective in some way (Either not holding a charge, or not connected properly). If you’re still able, I’d try and send it back for a replacement.
Hey! I do still have the gimbal. I haven't used it since the summer, because it's been too cold to go out and shoot. Last update I got for the gimbal was minor tweaks, nothing major.
Nice review sir. @10:47 In your list of gripes to the manufacturer I think you should have included the lack of a replaceable battery as something significant. That's true for any piece of on-the-go camera/filming gear. You could have a long shoot, grab the wrong charger or for any number of reasons not have enough charge for any vital piece of gear... would you stop shooting to sit around and wait for the gimbal or other gear to charge? I carry extra batteries for all my gear so this aspect is a miss for me. What about when the built-in battery starts loosing it's capacity to hold charge over time.. throw away? That would suck.
Great point. I’m also a fan of removable rechargeable batteries. (Specially for the e-waste concern). The internal battery isn’t so much of a gripe for me personally as I wouldn’t put (or personally use) this in a film making setting. The payload and lack of follow focus options already remove it from many film making applications before the non-removable battery comes into play. I would put this into more of a vlogging or prosumer category. People who would use it in short bursts, who stop in places where charging can be done, or carry battery banks with them I could see benefiting most from this gimbal.
@@austinlindsay Fair counter point. The plus model still wins my favor over the max despite extra payload capacity of the max. The flexibility of a replaceable battery is too important. The other must have with these prosumer gimbals in my opinion/experience... extra SquareTrade warranty. Won't get a foreign gimbal without one.. nope.
@@SVTtaurus I did not know that the Plus had a replaceable battery. Knowing that, It's odd that they wouldn't have deigned the Max's handle in a similar way. I also agree. Warranties are quite handy to have, especially if you travel and use your equipment constantly.
Thank you! The GoPro is actually the easiest one to get balanced. Have you balanced anything on a gimbal like this before? If so it works the same as balancing anything else. Attach the GoPro to the mount, thread that on to the gimbal’s camera plate. Lock all the axes except for the tilt. Make small adjustments till you can tilt the camera in any position and it stays. Lock that axis. And repeat the process for the roll axis. Finally, lock all the Axes except the roll. Turn the gimbal so the handle is parallel to the ground. And adjust the roll arm till the roll can be positioned to any angle and it stays. And you’re done. It does take a while to get it at first. But once you get it, you never forget it.
