- How to tie a constrictor knot, thats what I try to show in this video. The constrictor knot is a quick and easy way to tie slingshot bands. In this video im tying up some GZK green bands .58mm thick and 22 to 12mm tapers. Tying your own bands is very cost effective and will allow you to try infante lengths and tapers and I encourage you to do so. Thanks for watching

Great idea to use the paracord inner strands. I had a buddy who kept having his knot fail. Turns out he was tieing a clove hitch instead of the constrictor knot. It is key to go over that tag end before passing under the x. You did a great demo. That is a great jig. Have a great week brother. Stay safe and shoot straight 🇨🇦🥓🍺

This is one of your best shown band tieing videos my friend.
I've been using embroidery thread, about the same diameter and tons of colors to choose from. I add a little dot of Elmer's glue to the knot, don't know if it's super necessary but it makes me feel better about it!

Clove hitch is what we call that crossed knot across the ol' pond.

Hi there Chris... you know your stuff.. thats certain... now.. help out a fellow catapult guy... gzk is not available in south africa.. and with our poor exchange rate.. it is very very expensive to order online and get it here.. but what we do have available for not so expensive is theraband silver... 1.. wot do you think of it? 2.. do you know it's thickness? 3.. wot would you recommend it's band width.. would you recommend 22 to 12? Pls help.. and keep in mind i shoot 12mm marbles... you DONT want to know the price on one single 8mm steel bb here... if we say a pound for a rand.. one single 8mm bb is 2rand... would you shoot steel bb if one cost you 2pounds😂... so marbles work out 10 cents one.. thats 10 rand for 100... steel would be 2000rand for 100 and my house rent is 2000rand a month😂... dont ask me why our steel bb is so expensive.. i got no idee... but.. i do buy about 20 when i go rabbit hunting... but pigeons i take down with marbles... it normaly leaves them headless😂... thanks bro.. i would appreciate some help..

So glad I watched your vid Chris. I know the Clove Hitch and until your video I thought the Clove Hitch was a constrictor knot. I have to compliment you on the clear and concise way you explained it too. Top Man! QUESTION: What made you switch from the thin elastic string you used to use? I bought some and am finding it cuts through the band with use and the band fails at the pouch. Have tried not stretching the elastic thread too much all to no avail - is that why you moved to the parachord?

I would say yes as nylon is stronger than cotton

How long would your bands usually last, or how many shots roughly? i buy pre-made bands and they always break beside these knots.
Easy 700 rounds before mine fail but i use wrap n tuck. Constrictor knots can cut the bands as you have found.
@@boostedbliss07MK5 oh that's good, i get less than 100 shots from my bands. my lengths do be ok, there just badly tied i think. i'm going start making them
@@cruelpower1 gzk sent me free 0.58 latex and pouches with one of my orders so I watched Chris on this channel make some bands and I was off and running in no time. I had some premade bands from simpleshot and didn't like the non OTT way they setup the bands so I redid them. One bandset was new and the constrictor tie method had cut into the band already. I use band materiel to tie on the pouches and those have never come undone. I haven't had much luck with crystal string and have had to redo a few of those. Best of luck. You can do it!
Well I've now made two band sets :) cheers Chris for all the info ( she bangs now lol ) 20 mm to 12 mm for 9.5 , ......she fires 8 mm ballbearings sweet as you like as well , yay I'm happy now , no more shitty bands from Amazon :) or gkz bands at £4 a time
20 to 12 but what thickness for 9,5?
@@maurycyzych3129 I've. 72 gzk greenfor the 9.5 mm but have now got .62 gzk green for the 8 mm as they are far cheaper ballbearings to buy
